Chapter 25

1  Samuel dieth.  2  David in Paran sendeth to Nabal.  10  Provoked by Nabal's churlishness, he mindeth to destroy him.  14  Abigail understanding thereof,  18  taketh a present,  23  and by her wisdom  32  pacifieth David.  36  Nabal hearing thereof dieth.  39  David taketh Abigail and Ahinoam to be his wives.  44  Michal is given to Phalti.

        25:1 ¶ And Samuel 8050 died; 4191 8799z and all 3605x the Israelites 3478 were gathered together, 6908 8735z and lamented 5594 8799z him, and buried 6912 8799z him in his house 1004 at Ramah. 7414 And David 1732 arose, 6965 8799z and went down 3381 8799z to 413x the wilderness 4057 of Paran. 6290

        25:2 And [there was] a man 376 in Maon, 4584 whose possessions 4639 [were] in Carmel; 3760 and the man 376 [was] very 3966 great, 1419 and he had three 7969 thousand 505 sheep, 6629 and a thousand 505 goats: 5795 and he was 1961x shearing 1494 8800z 853x his sheep 6629 in Carmel. 3760

        25:3 Now the name 8034 of the man 376 [was] Nabal; 5037 and the name 8034 of his wife 802 Abigail: 26 and [she was] a woman 802 of good 2896 understanding, 7922 and of a beautiful 3303 countenance: 8389 but the man 376 [was] churlish 7186 and evil 7451 in his doings; 4611 and he 1931x [was] of the house of Caleb. 3614y 3612x

        25:4 ¶ And David 1732 heard 8085 8799z in the wilderness 4057 that 3588x Nabal 5037 did shear 1494 8802z 853x his sheep. 6629

        25:5 And David 1732 sent out 7971 8799z ten 6235 young men, 5288 and David 1732 said 559 8799z unto the young men, 5288 Get you up 5927 8798z to Carmel, 3760 and go 935 8804z to 413x Nabal, 5037 and greet 7592 7965 8804z him in my name: 8034

        25:6 And thus 3541x shall ye say 559 8804z to him that liveth 2416 [in prosperity], Peace 7965 [be] both to thee, 859x and peace 7965 [be] to thine house, 1004 and peace 7965 [be] unto all 3605x that 834x thou hast.

        25:7 And now 6258x I have heard 8085 8804z that 3588x thou hast shearers: 1494 8802z now 6258x thy shepherds 7462 8802z which 834x were 1961x with 5973x us, we hurt 3637 8689z them not, 3808x neither 3808x was there ought 3972 missing 6485 8738z unto them, all 3605x the while 3117 they were 1961x in Carmel. 3760

        25:8 Ask 7592 8798z 853x thy young men, 5288 and they will shew 5046 8686z thee. Wherefore let the young men 5288 find 4672 8799z favour 2580 in thine eyes: 5869 for 3588x we come 935 8804z in 5921x a good 2896 day: 3117 give, 5414 8798z I pray thee, 4994x 853x whatsoever 834x cometh 4672 8799z to thine hand 3027 unto thy servants, 5650 and to thy son 1121 David. 1732

        25:9 And when David's 1732 young men 5288 came, 935 8799z they spake 1696 8762z to 413x Nabal 5037 according to all 3605x those 428x words 1697 in the name 8034 of David, 1732 and ceased. 5117 8799z

        25:10 ¶ And Nabal 5037 answered 6030 8799z 853x David's 1732 servants, 5650 and said, 559 8799z Who 4310x [is] David? 1732 and who 4310x [is] the son 1121 of Jesse? 3448 there be many 7231 8804z servants 5650 now a days 3117 that break away 6555 8693z every man 376 from 6440 4480x his master. 113

        25:11 Shall I then take 3947 8804z 853x my bread, 3899 and my water, 4325 and my flesh 2878 that 834x I have killed 2873 8804z for my shearers, 1494 8802z and give 5414 8804z [it] unto men, 582y 376x whom 834x I know 3045 8804z not 3808x whence 335x 4480x 2088x they 1992x [be]?

        25:12 So David's 1732 young men 5288 turned 2015 8799z their way, 1870 and went again, 7725 8799z and came 935 8799z and told 5046 8686z him all 3605x those 428x sayings. 1697

        25:13 And David 1732 said 559 8799z unto his men, 582y 376x Gird ye on 2296 8798z every man 376 853x his sword. 2719 And they girded on 2296 8799z every man 376 853x his sword; 2719 and David 1732 also 1571x girded on 2296 8799z 853x his sword: 2719 and there went up 5927 8799z after 310 David 1732 about four 702 hundred 3967 men; 376 and two hundred 3967 abode 3427 8804z by 5921x the stuff. 3627

        25:14 ¶ But one 259 5288x of the young men 5288 4480x told 5046 8689z Abigail, 26 Nabal's 5037 wife, 802 saying, 559 8800z Behold, 2009x David 1732 sent 7971 8804z messengers 4397 out of the wilderness 4057 4480x to salute 1288 8763z 853x our master; 113 and he railed 5860 8799z on them.

        25:15 But the men 582y 376x [were] very 3966 good 2896 unto us, and we were not 3808x hurt, 3637 8717z neither 3808x missed 6485 8804z we any thing, 3972 as long as 3117 3605x we were conversant 1980 8694z with 854x them, when we were 1961x in the fields: 7704

        25:16 They were 1961x a wall 2346 unto 5921x us both 1571x by night 3915 and 1571x day, 3119 all 3605x the while 3117 we were 1961x with 5973x them keeping 7462 8802z the sheep. 6629

        25:17 Now 6258x therefore know 3045 8798z and consider 7200 8798z what 4100x thou wilt do; 6213 8799z for 3588x evil 7451 is determined 3615 8804z against 413x our master, 113 and against 5921x all 3605x his household: 1004 for he 1931x [is such] a son 1121 of Belial, 1100 that [a man] cannot speak 1696 8763z 4480x to 413x him.

        25:18 ¶ Then Abigail 26 made haste, 4116 8762z and took 3947 8799z two hundred 3967 loaves, 3899 and two 8147 bottles 5035 of wine, 3196 and five 2568 sheep 6629 ready dressed, 6213 8803z and five 2568 measures 5429 of parched 7039 [corn], and an hundred 3967 clusters of raisins, 6778 and two hundred 3967 cakes 1690y of figs, 1690x and laid 7760 8799z [them] on 5921x asses. 2543

        25:19 And she said 559 8799z unto her servants, 5288 Go on 5674 8798z before 6440 me; behold, 2005x I come 935 8802z after 310 you. But she told 5046 8689z not 3808x her husband 376 Nabal. 5037

        25:20 And it was 1961x [so, as] she 1931x rode 7392 8802z on 5921x the ass, 2543 that she came down 3381 8802z by the covert 5643 of the hill, 2022 and, behold, 2009x David 1732 and his men 582y 376x came down 3381 8802z against 7125 8800z her; and she met 6298 8799z them.

        25:21 Now David 1732 had said, 559 8804z Surely 389x in vain 8267 have I kept 8104 8804z 853x all 3605x that 834x this 2088 [fellow] hath in the wilderness, 4057 so that nothing 3972 3808x was missed 6485 8738z of all 4480x 3605x that 834x [pertained] unto him: and he hath requited 7725 8686z me evil 7451 for 8478x good. 2896

        25:22 So 3541 and more 3254 8686z also 3541x do 6213 8799z God 430 unto the enemies 341 8802z of David, 1732 if 518x I leave 7604 8686z of all 4480x 3605x that 834x [pertain] to him by 5704 the morning 1242y light 216y 1242x any that pisseth 8366 8688z against the wall. 7023

        25:23 And when Abigail 26 saw 7200 8799z 853x David, 1732 she hasted, 4116 8762z and lighted 3381x off 3381y 8799z 4480x 5921x the ass, 2543 and fell 5307 8799z before 639 David 1732 on 5921x her face, 6440 and bowed 7812y 8691z herself 7812x to the ground, 776

        25:24 And fell 5307 8799z at 5921x his feet, 7272 and said, 559 8799z Upon me, 589x my lord, 113 [upon] me [let this] iniquity 5771 [be]: and let thine handmaid, 519 I pray thee, 4994x speak 1696 8762z in thine audience, 241 and hear 8085 8798z 853x the words 1697 of thine handmaid. 589y 519x

        25:25 Let 7760y 8799z not 408x my lord, 113 I pray thee, 4994x regard 3820 7760x 853x 413x this 2088x man 376 of Belial, 1100 [even] Nabal: 5037 for 3588x as his name 8034 [is], so 3651x [is] he; 1931x Nabal 5037 [is] his name, 8034 and folly 5039 [is] with 5973x him: but I 589x thine handmaid 519 saw 7200 8804z not 3808x 853x the young men 5288 of my lord, 113 whom 834x thou didst send. 7971 8804z

        25:26 Now 6258x therefore, my lord, 113 [as] the LORD 3068 liveth, 2416 and [as] thy soul 5315 liveth, 2416 seeing 834x the LORD 3068 hath withholden 4513 8804z thee from coming 935 8800z 4480x to [shed] blood, 1818 and from avenging 3467 8687z thyself with thine own hand, 3027 now 6258x let thine enemies, 341 8802z and they that seek 1245 8764z evil 7451 to 413x my lord, 113 be 1961x as Nabal. 5037

        25:27 And now 6258x this 2063x blessing 1293 which 834x thine handmaid 8198 hath brought 935 8689z unto my lord, 113 let it even be given 5414 8738z unto the young men 5288 that follow 1980 7272 8693z my lord. 113

        25:28 I pray thee, 4994x forgive 5375 8798z the trespass 6588 of thine handmaid: 519 for 3588x the LORD 3068 will certainly 6213y 8800z make 6213 8799z my lord 113 a sure 539 8737z house; 1004 because 3588x my lord 113 fighteth 3898 8737z the battles 4421 of the LORD, 3068 and evil 7451 hath not 3808x been found 4672 8735z in thee [all] thy days. 3117 4480x

        25:29 Yet a man 120 is risen 6965 8799z to pursue 7291 8800z thee, and to seek 1245 8763z 853x thy soul: 5315 but the soul 5315 of my lord 113 shall be 1961x bound 6887 8803z in the bundle 6872 of life 2416 with 854x the LORD 3068 thy God; 430 and the souls 5315 of thine enemies, 341 8802z them shall he sling out, 7049 8762z [as out] of the middle 8432 3709y of a sling. 7050

        25:30 And it shall come to pass, 1961x when 3588x the LORD 3068 shall have done 6213 8799z to my lord 113 according to all 3605x 853x the good 2896 that 834x he hath spoken 1696 8765z concerning 5921x thee, and shall have appointed 6680 8765z thee ruler 5057 over 5921x Israel; 3478

        25:31 That this 2063x shall be 1961x no 3808x grief 6330 unto thee, nor offence 4383 of heart 3820 unto my lord, 113 either that thou hast shed 8210 8800z blood 1818 causeless, 2600 or that my lord 113 hath avenged 3467 8687z himself: but when the LORD 3068 shall have dealt well 3190 8689z with my lord, 113 then remember 2142 8804z 853x thine handmaid. 519

        25:32 ¶ And David 1732 said 559 8799z to Abigail, 26 Blessed 1288 8803z [be] the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 which 834x sent 7971 8804z thee this 2088x day 3117 to meet 7125 8800z me:

        25:33 And blessed 1288 8803z [be] thy advice, 2940 and blessed 1288 8803z [be] thou, 859x which 834x hast kept 3607 8804z me this 2088x day 3117 from coming 935 8800z 4480x to [shed] blood, 1818 and from avenging 3467 8687z myself with mine own hand. 3027

        25:34 For in very deed, 199 [as] the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478 liveth, 2416 which 834x hath kept me back 4513 8804z from hurting 7489 8687z 4480x thee, except 3884 3588x thou hadst hasted 4116 8765z and come 935 8799z to meet 7125 8800z me, surely 3588x there had not 518x been left 3498 8738z unto Nabal 5037 by 5704x the morning 1242 light 216 any that pisseth 8366 8688z against the wall. 7023

        25:35 So David 1732 received 3947 8799z of her hand 3027 4480x 853x [that] which 834x she had brought 935 8689z him, and said 559 8804z unto her, Go up 5927 8798z in peace 7965 to thine house; 1004 see, 7200 8798z I have hearkened 8085 8804z to thy voice, 6963 and have accepted 5375 8799z thy person. 6440

        25:36 ¶ And Abigail 26 came 935 8799z to 413x Nabal; 5037 and, behold, 2009x he held a feast 4960 in his house, 1004 like the feast 4960 of a king; 4428 and Nabal's 5037 heart 3820 [was] merry 2896 within 5921x him, for he 1931x [was] very 3966 5704x drunken: 7910 wherefore she told 5046 8689z him nothing, 1697 3808x less 6996 or more, 1419 until 5704x the morning 1242 light. 216

        25:37 But it came to pass 1961x in the morning, 1242 when the wine 3196 was gone out 3318 8800z of Nabal, 5037 4480x and his wife 802 had told 5046 8686z him 853x these 428x things, 1697 that his heart 3820 died 4191 8799z within 7130 him, and he 1931x became 1961x [as] a stone. 68

        25:38 And it came to pass 1961x about ten 6235 days 3117 [after], that the LORD 3068 smote 5062 8799z 853x Nabal, 5037 that he died. 4191 8799z

        25:39 ¶ And when David 1732 heard 8085 8799z that 3588x Nabal 5037 was dead, 4191 8804z he said, 559 8799z Blessed 1288 8803z [be] the LORD, 3068 that 834x hath pleaded 7378 8804z 853x the cause 7379 of my reproach 2781 from the hand 3027 4480x of Nabal, 5037 and hath kept 2820 8804z his servant 5650 from evil: 7451 4480x for the LORD 3068 hath returned 7725 8689z the wickedness 7451 of Nabal 5037 upon his own head. 7218 And David 1732 sent 7971 8799z and communed 1696 8762z with Abigail, 26 to take 3947 8800z her to him to wife. 802

        25:40 And when the servants 5650 of David 1732 were come 935 8799z to 413x Abigail 26 to Carmel, 3760 they spake 1696 8762z unto 413x her, saying, 559 8800z David 1732 sent 7971 8804z us unto 413x thee, to take 3947 8800z thee to him to wife. 802

        25:41 And she arose, 6965 8799z and bowed 7812y 8691z herself 7812x on [her] face 639 to the earth, 776 and said, 559 8799z Behold, 2009x [let] thine handmaid 519 [be] a servant 8198 to wash 7364 8800z the feet 7272 of the servants 5650 of my lord. 113

        25:42 And Abigail 26 hasted, 4116 8762z and arose, 6965 8799z and rode 7392 8799z upon 5921x an ass, 2543 with five 2568 damsels 5291 of hers that went 1980 8802z after 7272 her; and she went 3212y 8799z 1980x after 310 the messengers 4397 of David, 1732 and became 1961x his wife. 802

        25:43 David 1732 also took 3947 8804z Ahinoam 293 of Jezreel; 3157 4480x and they were 1961x also 1571x both 8147 of them his wives. 802

        25:44 ¶ But Saul 7586 had given 5414 8804z 853x Michal 4324 his daughter, 1323 David's 1732 wife, 802 to Phalti 6406 the son 1121 of Laish, 3919 which 834x [was] of Gallim. 1554 4480x
