Chapter 13

1  David fetcheth the Ark with great solemnity from Kirjath-jearim.  9  Uzza being smitten, the Ark left at the house of Obed-edom.

13:1 ¶ And David {1732} consulted {3289} <8735> with (5973) the captains {8269} of thousands {505} and hundreds, {3967} [and] with every (3605) leader. {5057}

13:2 And David {1732} said {559} <8799> unto all (3605) the congregation {6951} of Israel, {3478} If (518) [it seem] good {2895} <8804> unto (5921) you, and [that it be] of (4480) the LORD {3068} our God, {430} let us send {7971} <8799> abroad {6555} <8799> unto (5921) our brethren {251} every where, [that are] left {7604} <8737> in all (3605) the land {776} of Israel, {3478} and with (5973) them [also] to the priests {3548} and Levites {3881} [which are] in their cities {5892} [and] suburbs, {4054} that they may gather [6908] <8735> themselves (6908) unto (413) us:

13:3 And let us bring again {5437} <8686> (853) the ark {727} of our God {430} to (413) us: for (3588) we enquired {1875} <8804> not (3808) at it in the days {3117} of Saul. {7586}

13:4 And all (3605) the congregation {6951} said {559} <8799> that they would do (6213) so: [6213] <8800> (3651) for (3588) the thing {1697} was right {3474} <8804> in the eyes {5869} of all (3605) the people. {5971}

13:5 So David {1732} gathered {6950} <0> (853) all (3605) Israel {3478} together, [6950] <8686> from (4480) Shihor {7883} of Egypt {4714} even unto (5704) the entering {935} <8800> of Hemath, {2574} to bring {935} <8687> (853) the ark {727} of God {430} from Kirjathjearim. {7157} (4480)

13:6 And David {1732} went up, {5927} <8799> and all (3605) Israel, {3478} to Baalah, {1173} [that is], to (413) Kirjathjearim, {7157} which (834) [belonged] to Judah, {3063} to bring up {5927} <8687> thence (4480) (8033) (853) the ark {727} of God {430} the LORD, {3068} that dwelleth {3427} <8802> [between] the cherubims, {3742} whose (834) name {8034} is called {7121} <8738> [on it].

13:7 And they carried {7392} <8686> (853) the ark {727} of God {430} in (5921) a new {2319} cart {5699} out of the house {1004} (4480) of Abinadab: {41} and Uzza {5798} and Ahio {283} drave {5090} <8802> the cart. {5699}

13:8 And David {1732} and all (3605) Israel {3478} played {7832} <8764> before {6440} God {430} with all (3605) [their] might, {5797} and with singing, {7892} and with harps, {3658} and with psalteries, {5035} and with timbrels, {8596} and with cymbals, {4700} and with trumpets. {2689}

13:9 ¶ And when they came {935} <8799> unto (5704) the threshingfloor {1637} of Chidon, {3592} Uzza {5798} put forth {7971} <8799> (853) his hand {3027} to hold {270} <8800> (853) the ark; {727} for (3588) the oxen {1241} stumbled. {8058} <8804>

13:10 And the anger {639} of the LORD {3068} was kindled {2734} <8799> against Uzza, {5798} and he smote {5221} <8686> (5921) him, because (5921) (834) he put {7971} <8804> his hand {3027} to (5921) the ark: {727} and there (8033) he died {4191} <8799> before {6440} God. {430}

13:11 And David {1732} was displeased, {2734} <8799> because (3588) the LORD {3068} had made {6555} <8804> a breach {6556} upon Uzza: {5798} wherefore that (1931) place {4725} is called {7121} <8799> Perezuzza {6560} to (5704) this (2088) day. {3117}

13:12 And David {1732} was afraid {3372} <8799> (853) of God {430} that (1931) day, {3117} saying, {559} <8800> How {1963} shall I bring {935} <8686> (853) the ark {727} of God {430} [home] to (413) me?

13:13 So David {1732} brought {5493} <8689> not (3808) (853) the ark {727} [home] to (413) himself to (413) the city {5892} of David, {1732} but carried it aside {5186} <8686> into (413) the house {1004} of Obededom {5654} the Gittite. {1663}

13:14 And the ark {727} of God {430} remained {3427} <8799> with (5973) the family {1004} of Obededom {5654} in his house {1004} three {7969} months. {2320} And the LORD {3068} blessed {1288} <8762> (853) the house {1004} of Obededom, {5654} and all (3605) that (834) he had.
