Chapter 5

1  The Tribes come to Hebron to anoint David over Israel.  4  David's age.  6  He taking Zion from the Jebusites dwelleth in it.  11  Hiram sendeth to David.  13  Eleven sons are born to him in Jerusalem.  17  David directed by God smiteth the Philistines at Baal-perazim,  22  and again at the mulberry trees.

        5:1 ¶ Then came 935 8799z all 3605x the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478 to 413x David 1732 unto Hebron, 2275 and spake, 559 8799z saying, 559 8800z Behold, 2009x we 587x [are] thy bone 6106 and thy flesh. 1320

        5:2 Also 1571x in time past, 865 8032 when Saul 7586 was 1961x king 4428 over 5921x us, thou 859x wast 1961x he that leddest out 3318 8688z and broughtest 935x 853x in 935y 8688z Israel: 3478 and the LORD 3068 said 559 8799z to thee, Thou 859x shalt feed 7462 8799z 853x my people 5971 853x Israel, 3478 and thou 859x shalt be 1961x a captain 5057 over 5921x Israel. 3478

        5:3 So all 3605x the elders 2205 of Israel 3478 came 935 8799z to 413x the king 4428 to Hebron; 2275 and king 4428 David 1732 made 3772 8799z a league 1285 with them in Hebron 2275 before 6440 the LORD: 3068 and they anointed 4886 8799z 853x David 1732 king 4428 over 5921x Israel. 3478

        5:4 ¶ David 1732 [was] thirty 7970 years 8141 old 1121 when he began to reign, 4427 8800z [and] he reigned 4427 8804z forty 705 years. 8141

        5:5 In Hebron 2275 he reigned 4427 8804z over 5921x Judah 3063 seven 7651 years 8141 and six 8337 months: 2320 and in Jerusalem 3389 he reigned 4427 8804z thirty 7970 and three 7969 years 8141 over 5921x all 3605x Israel 3478 and Judah. 3063

        5:6 ¶ And the king 4428 and his men 582y 376x went 3212y 8799z 1980x to Jerusalem 3389 unto 413x the Jebusites, 2983 the inhabitants 3427 8802z of the land: 776 which spake 559 8799z unto David, 1732 saying, 559 8800z Except 3588x 518x thou take away 5493 8687z the blind 5787 and the lame, 6455 thou shalt not 3808x come in 935 8799z hither: 2008x thinking, 559 8800z David 1732 cannot 3808x come in 935 8799z hither. 2008x

        5:7 Nevertheless David 1732 took 3920 8799z 853x the strong hold 4686 of Zion: 6726 the same 1931x [is] the city 5892 of David. 1732

        5:8 And David 1732 said 559 8799z on that 1931x day, 3117 Whosoever 3605x getteth up 5060 8799z to the gutter, 6794 and smiteth 5221 8688z the Jebusites, 2983 and the lame 6455 and the blind, 5787 [that are] hated 8130 8803z of David's 1732 soul, 5315 [he shall be chief and captain]. Wherefore 5921x 3651x they said, 559 8799z The blind 5787 and the lame 6455 shall not 3808x come 935 8799z into 413x the house. 1004

        5:9 So David 1732 dwelt 3427 8799z in the fort, 4686 and called 7121 8799z it the city 5892 of David. 1732 And David 1732 built 1129 8799z round about 5439 from 4480x Millo 4407 and inward. 1004

        5:10 And David 1732 went 3212y 8799z on, 1980 8800z and grew great, 1419 and the LORD 3068 God 430 of hosts 6635 [was] with 5973x him.

        5:11 ¶ And Hiram 2438 king 4428 of Tyre 6865 sent 7971 8799z messengers 4397 to 413x David, 1732 and cedar 730 trees, 6086 and carpenters, 2796 6086x and masons: 7023 68y 2796x 18x and they built 1129 8799z David 1732 an house. 1004

        5:12 And David 1732 perceived 3045 8799z that 3588x the LORD 3068 had established 3559 8689z him king 4428 over 5921x Israel, 3478 and that 3588x he had exalted 5375 8765z his kingdom 4467 for his people 5971 Israel's 3478 sake. 5668x

        5:13 ¶ And David 1732 took 3947 8799z [him] more 5750x concubines 6370 and wives 802 out of Jerusalem, 3389 4480x after 310 he was come 935 8800z from Hebron: 2275 4480x and there were yet 5750x sons 1121 and daughters 1323 born 3205 8735z to David. 1732

        5:14 And these 428x [be] the names 8034 of those that were born 3209 unto him in Jerusalem; 3389 Shammua, 8051 and Shobab, 7727 and Nathan, 5416 and Solomon, 8010

        5:15 Ibhar 2984 also, and Elishua, 474 and Nepheg, 5298 and Japhia, 3309

        5:16 And Elishama, 476 and Eliada, 450 and Eliphalet. 467

        5:17 ¶ But when the Philistines 6430 heard 8085 8799z that 3588x they had anointed 4886 8804z 853x David 1732 king 4428 over 5921x Israel, 3478 all 3605x the Philistines 6430 came up 5927 8799z to seek 1245 8763z 853x David; 1732 and David 1732 heard 8085 8799z [of it], and went down 3381 8799z to 413x the hold. 4686

        5:18 The Philistines 6430 also came 935 8804z and spread 5203y 8735z themselves 5203x in the valley 6010 of Rephaim. 7497

        5:19 And David 1732 enquired 7592 8799z of the LORD, 3068 saying, 559 8800z Shall I go up 5927 8799z to 413x the Philistines? 6430 wilt thou deliver 5414 8799z them into mine hand? 3027 And the LORD 3068 said 559 8799z unto 413x David, 1732 Go up: 5927 8798z for 3588x I will doubtless 5414y 8800z deliver 5414 8799z 853x the Philistines 6430 into thine hand. 3027

        5:20 And David 1732 came 935 8799z to Baalperazim, 1188 and David 1732 smote 5221 8686z them there, 8033x and said, 559 8799z The LORD 3068 hath broken forth 6555y 8804z upon 6555x 853x mine enemies 341 8802z before 6440 me, as the breach 6556 of waters. 4325 Therefore 5921x 3651x he called 7121 8804z the name 8034 of that 1931x place 4725 Baalperazim. 1188

        5:21 And there 8033x they left 5800 8799z 853x their images, 6091 and David 1732 and his men 582y 376x burned 5375 8799z them.

        5:22 ¶ And the Philistines 6430 came up 5927 8800z yet 5750x again, 3254 8686z and spread 5203y 8735z themselves 5203x in the valley 6010 of Rephaim. 7497

        5:23 And when David 1732 enquired 7592 8799z of the LORD, 3068 he said, 559 8799z Thou shalt not 3808x go up; 5927 8799z [but] fetch a compass 5437 8685z 413x behind 310 them, and come 935 8804z upon them over against 4136 4480x the mulberry trees. 1057

        5:24 And let it be, 1961x when thou hearest 8085 8800z 853x the sound 6963 of a going 6807 in the tops 7218 of the mulberry trees, 1057 that then 227x thou shalt bestir 2782 8799z thyself: for 3588x then 227x shall the LORD 3068 go out 3318 8804z before 6440 thee, to smite 5221 8687z the host 4264 of the Philistines. 6430

        5:25 And David 1732 did 6213x so, 6213y 8799z 3651x as 834x the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 8765z him; and smote 5221 8686z 853x the Philistines 6430 from Geba 1387 4480x until thou come 935 8800z to Gazer. 1507
