Chapter 5

1  A lamentation for Israel.  4  An exhortation to repentance.  21  God rejecteth their hypocritical service.

        5:1 ¶ Hear 8085 8798z ye 853x this 2088x word 1697 which 834x I 595x take up 5375 8802z against 5921x you, [even] a lamentation, 7015 O house 1004 of Israel. 3478

        5:2 The virgin 1330 of Israel 3478 is fallen; 5307 8804z she shall no 3808x more 3254 8686z rise: 6965 8800z she is forsaken 5203 8738z upon 5921x her land; 127 [there is] none 369x to raise her up. 6965 8688z

        5:3 For 3588x thus 3541x saith 559 8804z the Lord 136 GOD; 3069 The city 5892 that went out 3318 8802z [by] a thousand 505 shall leave 7604 8686z an hundred, 3967 and that which went forth 3318 8802z [by] an hundred 3967 shall leave 7604 8686z ten, 6235 to the house 1004 of Israel. 3478

        5:4 ¶ For 3588x thus 3541x saith 559 8804z the LORD 3068 unto the house 1004 of Israel, 3478 Seek 1875 8798z ye me, and ye shall live: 2421 8798z

        5:5 But seek 1875 8799z not 408x Bethel, 1008 nor 3808x enter 935 8799z into Gilgal, 1537 and pass 5674 8799z not 3808x to Beersheba: 884 for 3588x Gilgal 1537 shall surely 1540y 8800z go into captivity, 1540 8799z and Bethel 1008 shall come 1961x to nought. 205

        5:6 Seek 1875 8798z 853x the LORD, 3068 and ye shall live; 2421 8798z lest 6435x he break out 6743 8799z like fire 784 in the house 1004 of Joseph, 3130 and devour 398 8804z [it], and [there be] none 369x to quench 3518 8764z [it] in Bethel. 1008

        5:7 Ye who turn 2015 8802z judgment 4941 to wormwood, 3939 and leave off 3240y 8689z 5117x righteousness 6666 in the earth, 776

        5:8 [Seek him] that maketh 6213 8802z the seven stars 3598 and Orion, 3685 and turneth 2015 8802z the shadow of death 6757 into the morning, 1242 and maketh the day 3117y dark 2821 8689z 3117x with night: 3915 that calleth 7121 8802z for the waters 4325 of the sea, 3220 and poureth them out 8210 8799z upon 5921x the face 6440 of the earth: 776 The LORD 3068 [is] his name: 8034

        5:9 That strengtheneth 1082 8688z the spoiled 7701 against 5921x the strong, 5794y 5974x so that the spoiled 7701 shall come 935 8799z against 5921x the fortress. 4013

        5:10 They hate 8130 8804z him that rebuketh 3198 8688z in the gate, 8179 and they abhor 8581 8762z him that speaketh 1696 8802z uprightly. 8549

        5:11 Forasmuch 3282 therefore 3651x as your treading 1318 8780z [is] upon 5921x the poor, 1800 and ye take 3947 8799z from 4480x him burdens 4864 of wheat: 1250 ye have built 1129 8804z houses 1004 of hewn stone, 1496 but ye shall not 3808x dwell 3427 8799z in them; ye have planted 5193 8804z pleasant 2531 vineyards, 3754 but ye shall not 3808x drink 8354 8799z 853x wine 3196 of them.

        5:12 For 3588x I know 3045 8804z your manifold 7227 transgressions 6588 and your mighty 6099 sins: 2403 they afflict 6887 8802z the just, 6662 they take 3947 8802z a bribe, 3724 and they turn aside 5186 8689z the poor 34 in the gate 8179 [from their right].

        5:13 Therefore 3651x the prudent 7919 8688z shall keep silence 1826 8799z in that 1931x time; 6256 for 3588x it 1931x [is] an evil 7451 time. 6256

        5:14 Seek 1875 8798z good, 2896 and not 408x evil, 7451 that 4616x ye may live: 2421 8799z and so 3651x the LORD, 3068 the God 430 of hosts, 6635 shall be 1961x with 854x you, as 834x ye have spoken. 559 8804z

        5:15 Hate 8130 8798z the evil, 7451 and love 157 8798z the good, 2896 and establish 3322 8685z judgment 4941 in the gate: 8179 it may be 194x that the LORD 3068 God 430 of hosts 6635 will be gracious 2603 8799z unto the remnant 7611 of Joseph. 3130

        5:16 Therefore 3651x the LORD, 3068 the God 430 of hosts, 6635 the Lord, 136 saith 559 8804z thus; 3541x Wailing 4553 [shall be] in all 3605x streets; 7339 and they shall say 559 8799z in all 3605x the highways, 2351 Alas! 1930 alas! 1930 and they shall call 7121 8804z the husbandman 406 to 413x mourning, 60 and such as are skilful 3045 8802z of lamentation 5092 to 413x wailing. 4553

        5:17 And in all 3605x vineyards 3754 [shall be] wailing: 4553 for 3588x I will pass 5674 8799z through 7130 thee, saith 559 8804z the LORD. 3068

        5:18 Woe 1945 unto you that desire 183 8693z 853x the day 3117 of the LORD! 3068 to what end 4100 [is] it 2088x for you? the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 [is] darkness, 2822 and not 3808x light. 216

        5:19 As if 834x a man 376 did flee 5127 8799z from 6440 4480x a lion, 738 and a bear 1677 met 6293 8804z him; or went 935 8804z into the house, 1004 and leaned 5564 8804z his hand 3027 on 5921x the wall, 7023 and a serpent 5175 bit 5391 8804z him.

        5:20 [Shall] not 3808x the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 [be] darkness, 2822 and not 3808x light? 216 even very dark, 651 and no 3808x brightness 5051 in it?

        5:21 ¶ I hate, 8130 8804z I despise 3988 8804z your feast days, 2282 and I will not 3808x smell 7306 8686z in your solemn assemblies. 6116

        5:22 Though 3588x 518x ye offer 5927 8686z me burnt offerings 5930 and your meat offerings, 4503 I will not 3808x accept 7521 8799z [them]: neither 3808x will I regard 5027 8686z the peace offerings 8002 of your fat beasts. 4806

        5:23 Take thou away 5493 8685z from 4480x 5921x me the noise 1995 of thy songs; 7892 for I will not 3808x hear 8085 8799z the melody 2172 of thy viols. 5035

        5:24 But let judgment 4941 run down 1556 8735z as waters, 4325 and righteousness 6666 as a mighty 386 stream. 5158

        5:25 Have ye offered 5066 8689z unto me sacrifices 2077 and offerings 4503 in the wilderness 4057 forty 705 years, 8141 O house 1004 of Israel? 3478

        5:26 But ye have borne 5375 8804z 853x the tabernacle 5522 of your Moloch 4428y 4432x and Chiun 3594 your images, 6754 the star 3556 of your god, 430 which 834x ye made 6213 8804z to yourselves.

        5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity 1540 8689z beyond 1973 4480x Damascus, 1834 saith 559 8804z the LORD, 3068 whose name 8034 [is] The God 430 of hosts. 6635
