Chapter 10

1  God's mercy in restoring the two tables,  6  in continuing the priesthood,  8  in separating the tribe of Levi,  10  in hearkening unto Moses' suit for the people.  12  An exhortation unto obedience.

10:1 ¶ At that (1931) time {6256} the LORD {3068} said {559} <8804> unto (413) me, Hew {6458} <8798> thee two {8147} tables {3871} of stone {68} like unto the first, {7223} and come up {5927} <8798> unto (413) me into the mount, {2022} and make {6213} <8804> thee an ark {727} of wood. {6086}

10:2 And I will write {3789} <8799> on (5921) the tables {3871} (853) the words {1697} that (834) were (1961) in (5921) the first {7223} tables {3871} which (834) thou brakest, {7665} <8765> and thou shalt put {7760} <8804> them in the ark. {727}

10:3 And I made {6213} <8799> an ark {727} [of] shittim {7848} wood, {6086} and hewed {6458} <8799> two {8147} tables {3871} of stone {68} like unto the first, {7223} and went up {5927} <8799> into the mount, {2022} having the two {8147} tables {3871} in mine hand. {3027}

10:4 And he wrote {3789} <8799> on (5921) the tables, {3871} according to the first {7223} writing, {4385} (853) the ten {6235} commandments, {1697} which (834) the LORD {3068} spake {1696} <8765> unto (413) you in the mount {2022} out of the midst {8432} (4480) of the fire {784} in the day {3117} of the assembly: {6951} and the LORD {3068} gave {5414} <8799> them unto (413) me.

10:5 And I turned [6437] <8799> myself (6437) and came down {3381} <8799> from (4480) the mount, {2022} and put {7760} <8799> (853) the tables {3871} in the ark {727} which (834) I had made; {6213} <8804> and there (8033) they be, (1961) as (834) the LORD {3068} commanded {6680} <8765> me.

10:6 ¶ And the children {1121} of Israel {3478} took their journey {5265} <8804> from Beeroth (4480) (881) of the children (1121) of Jaakan [885] (3292) to Mosera: {4149} there (8033) Aaron {175} died, {4191} <8804> and there (8033) he was buried; {6912} <8735> and Eleazar {499} his son {1121} ministered in the priest's office {3547} <8762> in his stead. 10:7 From thence (4480) (8033) they journeyed {5265} <8804> unto Gudgodah; {1412} and from (4480) Gudgodah {1412} to Jotbath, {3193} a land {776} of rivers {5158} of waters. {4325}

10:8 ¶ At that (1931) time {6256} the LORD {3068} separated {914} <8689> (853) the tribe {7626} of Levi, {3878} to bear {5375} <8800> (853) the ark {727} of the covenant {1285} of the LORD, {3068} to stand {5975} <8800> before {6440} the LORD {3068} to minister {8334} <8763> unto him, and to bless {1288} <8763> in his name, {8034} unto (5704) this (2088) day. {3117}

10:9 Wherefore (5921) (3651) Levi {3878} hath (1961) no (3808) part {2506} nor inheritance {5159} with (5973) his brethren; {251} the LORD {3068} [is] his inheritance, {5159} according (834) as the LORD {3068} thy God {430} promised {1696} <8765> him.

10:10 And I (595) stayed {5975} <8804> in the mount, {2022} according to the first {7223} time, {3117} forty {705} days {3117} and forty {705} nights; {3915} and the LORD {3068} hearkened {8085} <8799> unto (413) me at that (1931) time {6471} also, (1571) [and] the LORD {3068} would {14} <8804> not (3808) destroy {7843} <8687> thee.

10:11 And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Arise, {6965} <8798> take [3212] <8798> (1980) [thy] journey {4550} before {6440} the people, {5971} that they may go in {935} <8799> and possess {3423} <8799> (853) the land, {776} which (834) I sware {7650} <8738> unto their fathers {1} to give {5414} <8800> unto them.

10:12 ¶ And now, (6258) Israel, {3478} what (4100) doth the LORD {3068} thy God {430} require {7592} <8802> of (4480) (5973) thee, but (3588) (518) to fear {3372} <8800> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} to walk [3212] <8800> (1980) in all (3605) his ways, {1870} and to love {157} <8800> him, and to serve {5647} <8800> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} with all (3605) thy heart {3824} and with all (3605) thy soul, {5315}

10:13 To keep {8104} <8800> (853) the commandments {4687} of the LORD, {3068} and his statutes, {2708} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> thee this day {3117} for thy good? {2896}

10:14 Behold, (2005) the heaven {8064} and the heaven {8064} of heavens {8064} [is] the LORD'S {3068} thy God, {430} the earth {776} [also], with all (3605) that (834) therein [is].

10:15 Only (7535) the LORD {3068} had a delight {2836} <8804> in thy fathers {1} to love {157} <8800> them, and he chose {977} <8799> their seed {2233} after {310} them, [even] you above all (4480) (3605) people, {5971} as [it is] this (2088) day. {3117}

10:16 Circumcise {4135} <8804> therefore (853) the foreskin {6190} of your heart, {3824} and be no (3808) more (5750) stiffnecked. {6203} {7185} <8686>

10:17 For (3588) the LORD {3068} your God {430} [is] God {430} of gods, {430} and Lord {113} of lords, {113} a great {1419} God, {410} a mighty, {1368} and a terrible, {3372} <8737> which (834) regardeth {5375} <8799> not (3808) persons, {6440} nor (3808) taketh {3947} <8799> reward: {7810}

10:18 He doth execute {6213} <8802> the judgment {4941} of the fatherless {3490} and widow, {490} and loveth {157} <8802> the stranger, {1616} in giving {5414} <8800> him food {3899} and raiment. {8071}

10:19 Love {157} <8804> ye therefore (853) the stranger: {1616} for (3588) ye were (1961) strangers {1616} in the land {776} of Egypt. {4714}

10:20 Thou shalt fear {3372} <8799> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God; {430} him shalt thou serve, {5647} <8799> and to him shalt thou cleave, {1692} <8799> and swear {7650} <8735> by his name. {8034}

10:21 He (1931) [is] thy praise, {8416} and he (1931) [is] thy God, {430} that (834) hath done {6213} <8804> for (854) thee (853) these (428) great {1419} and terrible things, {3372} <8737> which (834) thine eyes {5869} have seen. {7200} <8804>

10:22 Thy fathers {1} went down {3381} <8804> into Egypt {4714} with threescore and ten {7657} persons; {5315} and now (6258) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} hath made {7760} <8804> thee as the stars {3556} of heaven {8064} for multitude. {7230}
