Chapter 16

1  The feast of the Passover,  9  of Weeks,  13  of Tabernacles.  16  Every male must offer, as he is able, at these three feasts.  18  Of judges and justice.  21  Groves and images are forbidden.

16:1 ¶ Observe {8104} <8800> (853) the month {2320} of Abib, {24} and keep {6213} <8804> the passover {6453} unto the LORD {3068} thy God: {430} for (3588) in the month {2320} of Abib {24} the LORD {3068} thy God {430} brought thee forth {3318} <8689> out of Egypt {4714} (4480) by night. {3915}

16:2 Thou shalt therefore sacrifice {2076} <8804> the passover {6453} unto the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} of the flock {6629} and the herd, {1241} in the place {4725} which (834) the LORD {3068} shall choose {977} <8799> to place {7931} <8763> his name {8034} there. (8033)

16:3 Thou shalt eat {398} <8799> no (3808) leavened bread {2557} with (5921) it; seven {7651} days {3117} shalt thou eat {398} <8799> unleavened bread {4682} therewith, (5921) [even] the bread {3899} of affliction; {6040} for (3588) thou camest forth {3318} <8804> out of the land {776} (4480) of Egypt {4714} in haste: {2649} that (4616) thou mayest remember {2142} <8799> (853) the day {3117} when thou camest forth {3318} <8800> out of the land {776} (4480) of Egypt {4714} all (3605) the days {3117} of thy life. {2416}

16:4 And there shall be no (3808) leavened bread {7603} seen {7200} <8735> with thee in all (3605) thy coast {1366} seven {7651} days; {3117} neither (3808) shall there [any thing] of (4480) the flesh, {1320} which (834) thou sacrificedst {2076} <8799> the first {7223} day {3117} at even, {6153} remain [3885] <8799> all night (3885) until the morning. {1242}

16:5 Thou mayest {3201} <8799> not (3808) sacrifice {2076} <8800> (853) the passover {6453} within any {259} of thy gates, {8179} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} giveth {5414} <8802> thee:

16:6 But (3588) (518) at (413) the place {4725} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} shall choose {977} <8799> to place {7931} <8763> his name {8034} in, there (8033) thou shalt sacrifice {2076} <8799> (853) the passover {6453} at even, {6153} at the going down {935} <8800> of the sun, {8121} at the season {4150} that thou camest forth {3318} <8800> out of Egypt. {4714} (4480)

16:7 And thou shalt roast {1310} <8765> and eat {398} <8804> [it] in the place {4725} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} shall choose: {977} <8799> and thou shalt turn {6437} <8804> in the morning, {1242} and go {1980} <8804> unto thy tents. {168}

16:8 Six {8337} days {3117} thou shalt eat {398} <8799> unleavened bread: {4682} and on the seventh {7637} day {3117} [shall be] a solemn assembly {6116} to the LORD {3068} thy God: {430} thou shalt do {6213} <8799> no (3808) work {4399} [therein].

16:9 ¶ Seven {7651} weeks {7620} shalt thou number {5608} <8799> unto thee: begin {2490} <8687> to number {5608} <8800> the seven {7651} weeks {7620} from [such time as] thou beginnest {2490} <8686> (4480) [to put] the sickle {2770} to the corn. {7054}

16:10 And thou shalt keep {6213} <8804> the feast {2282} of weeks {7620} unto the LORD {3068} thy God {430} with a tribute {4530} of a freewill offering {5071} of thine hand, {3027} which (834) thou shalt give {5414} <8799> [unto the LORD thy God], according as (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} hath blessed {1288} <8762> thee:

16:11 And thou shalt rejoice {8055} <8804> before {6440} the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} thou, (859) and thy son, {1121} and thy daughter, {1323} and thy manservant, {5650} and thy maidservant, {519} and the Levite {3881} that (834) [is] within thy gates, {8179} and the stranger, {1616} and the fatherless, {3490} and the widow, {490} that (834) [are] among {7130} you, in the place {4725} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} hath chosen {977} <8799> to place {7931} <8763> his name {8034} there. (8033)

16:12 And thou shalt remember {2142} <8804> that (3588) thou wast (1961) a bondman {5650} in Egypt: {4714} and thou shalt observe {8104} <8804> and do {6213} <8804> (853) these (428) statutes. {2706}

16:13 ¶ Thou shalt observe {6213} <8799> the feast {2282} of tabernacles {5521} seven {7651} days, {3117} after that thou hast gathered {622} <8800> in thy corn {1637} (4480) and thy wine: {3342} (4480)

16:14 And thou shalt rejoice {8055} <8804> in thy feast, {2282} thou, (859) and thy son, {1121} and thy daughter, {1323} and thy manservant, {5650} and thy maidservant, {519} and the Levite, {3881} the stranger, {1616} and the fatherless, {3490} and the widow, {490} that (834) [are] within thy gates. {8179}

16:15 Seven {7651} days {3117} shalt thou keep a solemn feast {2287} <8799> unto the LORD {3068} thy God {430} in the place {4725} which (834) the LORD {3068} shall choose: {977} <8799> because (3588) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} shall bless {1288} <8762> thee in all (3605) thine increase, {8393} and in all (3605) the works {4639} of thine hands, {3027} therefore thou shalt (1961) surely (389) rejoice. {8056}

16:16 ¶ Three {7969} times {6471} in a year {8141} shall all (3605) thy males {2138} appear {7200} <8735> (853) before {6440} the LORD {3068} thy God {430} in the place {4725} which (834) he shall choose; {977} <8799> in the feast {2282} of unleavened bread, {4682} and in the feast {2282} of weeks, {7620} and in the feast {2282} of tabernacles: {5521} and they shall not (3808) appear {7200} <8735> (853) before {6440} the LORD {3068} empty: {7387}

16:17 Every man {376} [shall give] as he is able, {4979} {3027} according to the blessing {1293} of the LORD {3068} thy God {430} which (834) he hath given {5414} <8804> thee.

16:18 ¶ Judges {8199} <8802> and officers {7860} <8802> shalt thou make {5414} <8799> thee in all (3605) thy gates, {8179} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} giveth {5414} <8802> thee, throughout thy tribes: {7626} and they shall judge {8199} <8804> (853) the people {5971} with just {6664} judgment. {4941}

16:19 Thou shalt not (3808) wrest {5186} <8686> judgment; {4941} thou shalt not (3808) respect {5234} <8686> persons, {6440} neither (3808) take {3947} <8799> a gift: {7810} for (3588) a gift {7810} doth blind {5786} <8762> the eyes {5869} of the wise, {2450} and pervert {5557} <8762> the words {1697} of the righteous. {6662}

16:20 That which is altogether [6664] just {6664} shalt thou follow, {7291} <8799> that (4616) thou mayest live, {2421} <8799> and inherit {3423} <8804> (853) the land {776} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} giveth {5414} <8802> thee.

16:21 ¶ Thou shalt not (3808) plant {5193} <8799> thee a grove {842} of any (3605) trees {6086} near (681) unto [681] the altar {4196} of the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} which (834) thou shalt make {6213} <8799> thee.

16:22 Neither (3808) shalt thou set thee up {6965} <8686> [any] image; {4676} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} hateth. {8130} <8804>
