Deuteronomy

Chapter 27

1  The people are commanded to write the Law upon stones,  5  and to build an altar of whole stones.  11  The tribes divided on Gerizim and Ebal.  14  The curses pronounced on mount Ebal.

27:1 ¶ And Moses {4872} with the elders {2205} of Israel {3478} commanded {6680} <8762> (853) the people, {5971} saying, {559} <8800> Keep {8104} <8800> (853) all (3605) the commandments {4687} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> you this day. {3117}

27:2 And it shall be (1961) on the day {3117} when (834) ye shall pass over {5674} <8799> (853) Jordan {3383} unto (413) the land {776} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} giveth {5414} <8802> thee, that thou shalt set thee up {6965} <8689> great {1419} stones, {68} and plaister {7874} <8804> them with plaister: {7875}

27:3 And thou shalt write {3789} <8804> upon (5921) them (853) all (3605) the words {1697} of this (2063) law, {8451} when thou art passed over, {5674} <8800> that (4616) (834) thou mayest go in {935} <8799> unto (413) the land {776} which (834) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} giveth {5414} <8802> thee, a land {776} that floweth {2100} <8802> with milk {2461} and honey; {1706} as (834) the LORD {3068} God {430} of thy fathers {1} hath promised {1696} <8765> thee.

27:4 Therefore it shall be (1961) when ye be gone over {5674} <8800> (853) Jordan, {3383} [that] ye shall set up {6965} <8686> (853) these (428) stones, {68} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> you this day, {3117} in mount {2022} Ebal, {5858} and thou shalt plaister [7875] (7874) them with plaister. [7874] <8804> (7875)

27:5 And there (8033) shalt thou build {1129} <8804> an altar {4196} unto the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} an altar {4196} of stones: {68} thou shalt not (3808) lift up {5130} <8686> [any] iron {1270} [tool] upon (5921) them.

27:6 Thou shalt build {1129} <8799> (853) the altar {4196} of the LORD {3068} thy God {430} of whole {8003} stones: {68} and thou shalt offer {5927} <8689> burnt offerings {5930} thereon (5921) unto the LORD {3068} thy God: {430}

27:7 And thou shalt offer {2076} <8804> peace offerings, {8002} and shalt eat {398} <8804> there, (8033) and rejoice {8055} <8804> before {6440} the LORD {3068} thy God. {430}

27:8 And thou shalt write {3789} <8804> upon (5921) the stones {68} (853) all (3605) the words {1697} of this (2063) law {8451} very [3190] <8687> plainly. {874} <8761> (3190)

27:9 ¶ And Moses {4872} and the priests {3548} the Levites {3881} spake {1696} <8762> unto (413) all (3605) Israel, {3478} saying, {559} <8800> Take heed, {5535} <8685> and hearken, {8085} <8798> O Israel; {3478} this (2088) day {3117} thou art become {1961} <8738> the people {5971} of the LORD {3068} thy God. {430}

27:10 Thou shalt therefore obey {8085} <8804> the voice {6963} of the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} and do {6213} <8804> (853) his commandments {4687} and his statutes, {2706} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> thee this day. {3117}

27:11 ¶ And Moses {4872} charged {6680} <8762> (853) the people {5971} the same (1931) day, {3117} saying, {559} <8800>

27:12 These (428) shall stand {5975} <8799> upon (5921) mount {2022} Gerizim {1630} to bless {1288} <8763> (853) the people, {5971} when ye are come over {5674} <8800> (853) Jordan; {3383} Simeon, {8095} and Levi, {3878} and Judah, {3063} and Issachar, {3485} and Joseph, {3130} and Benjamin: {1144}

27:13 And these (428) shall stand {5975} <8799> upon mount {2022} Ebal {5858} to (5921) curse; {7045} Reuben, {7205} Gad, {1410} and Asher, {836} and Zebulun, {2074} Dan, {1835} and Naphtali. {5321}

27:14 ¶ And the Levites {3881} shall speak, {6030} <8804> and say {559} <8804> unto (413) all (3605) the men {376} of Israel {3478} with a loud {7311} <8802> voice, {6963}

27:15 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] the man {376} that (834) maketh {6213} <8799> [any] graven {6459} or molten image, {4541} an abomination {8441} unto the LORD, {3068} the work {4639} of the hands {3027} of the craftsman, {2796} and putteth {7760} <8804> [it] in [a] secret {5643} [place]. And all (3605) the people {5971} shall answer {6030} <8804> and say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:16 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that setteth light {7034} <8688> by his father {1} or his mother. {517} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:17 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that removeth {5253} <8688> his neighbour's {7453} landmark. {1366} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:18 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that maketh the blind {5787} to wander {7686} <8688> out of the way. {1870} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:19 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that perverteth {5186} <8688> the judgment {4941} of the stranger, {1616} fatherless, {3490} and widow. {490} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:20 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that lieth {7901} <8802> with (5973) his father's {1} wife; {802} because (3588) he uncovereth {1540} <8765> his father's {1} skirt. {3671} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:21 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that lieth {7901} <8802> with (5973) any manner (3605) of beast. {929} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:22 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that lieth {7901} <8802> with (5973) his sister, {269} the daughter {1323} of his father, {1} or (176) the daughter {1323} of his mother. {517} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:23 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that lieth {7901} <8802> with (5973) his mother in law. {2859} <8802> And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:24 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that smiteth {5221} <8688> his neighbour {7453} secretly. {5643} And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:25 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that taketh {3947} <8802> reward {7810} to slay {5221} <8687> an innocent {5355} person. {5315} [1818] And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}

27:26 Cursed {779} <8803> [be] he that (834) confirmeth {6965} <8686> not (3808) [all] (853) the words {1697} of this (2063) law {8451} to do {6213} <8800> them. And all (3605) the people {5971} shall say, {559} <8804> Amen. {543}
