Deuteronomy

Chapter 31

1  Moses encourageth the people.  7  He encourageth Joshua.  9  He delivereth the Law unto the priests to read it in the seventh year to the people.  14  God giveth a charge to Joshua,  19  and a song to testify against the people.  24  Moses delivereth the book of the Law to the Levites to keep.  28  He maketh a protestation to the elders.

31:1 ¶ And Moses {4872} went [3212] <8799> (1980) and spake {1696} <8762> (853) these (428) words {1697} unto (413) all (3605) Israel. {3478}

31:2 And he said {559} <8799> unto (413) them, I (595) [am] an hundred {3967} and twenty {6242} years {8141} old {1121} this day; {3117} I can {3201} <8799> no (3808) more (5750) go out {3318} <8800> and come in: {935} <8800> also the LORD {3068} hath said {559} <8804> unto (413) me, Thou shalt not (3808) go over {5674} <8799> (853) this (2088) Jordan. {3383}

31:3 The LORD {3068} thy God, {430} he (1931) will go over {5674} <8802> before {6440} thee, [and] he (1931) will destroy {8045} <8686> (853) these (428) nations {1471} from before {6440} (4480) thee, and thou shalt possess {3423} <8804> them: [and] Joshua, {3091} he (1931) shall go over {5674} <8802> before {6440} thee, as (834) the LORD {3068} hath said. {1696} <8765>

31:4 And the LORD {3068} shall do {6213} <8804> unto them as (834) he did {6213} <8804> to Sihon {5511} and to Og, {5747} kings {4428} of the Amorites, {567} and unto the land {776} of them, whom (834) (853) he destroyed. {8045} <8689>

31:5 And the LORD {3068} shall give them up {5414} <8804> before your face, {6440} that ye may do {6213} <8804> unto them according unto all (3605) the commandments {4687} which (834) I have commanded {6680} <8765> you.

31:6 Be strong {2388} <8798> and of a good courage, {553} <8798> fear {3372} <8799> not, (408) nor (408) be afraid {6206} <8799> of (4480) (6440) them: [6440] for (3588) the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} he (1931) [it is] that doth go {1980} <8802> with (5973) thee; he will not (3808) fail {7503} <8686> thee, nor (3808) forsake {5800} <8799> thee.

31:7 ¶ And Moses {4872} called {7121} <8799> unto Joshua, {3091} and said {559} <8799> unto (413) him in the sight {5869} of all (3605) Israel, {3478} Be strong {2388} <8798> and of a good courage: {553} <8798> for (3588) thou (859) must go {935} <8799> with (854) this (2088) people {5971} unto (413) the land {776} which (834) the LORD {3068} hath sworn {7650} <8738> unto their fathers {1} to give {5414} <8800> them; and thou (859) shalt cause them to inherit {5157} <8686> it.

31:8 And the LORD, {3068} he (1931) [it is] that doth go {1980} <8802> before {6440} thee; he (1931) will be (1961) with thee, (5973) he will not (3808) fail {7503} <8686> thee, neither (3808) forsake {5800} <8799> thee: fear {3372} <8799> not, (3808) neither (3808) be dismayed. {2865} <8735>

31:9 ¶ And Moses {4872} wrote {3789} <8799> (853) this (2063) law, {8451} and delivered {5414} <8799> it unto (413) the priests {3548} the sons {1121} of Levi, {3878} which bare {5375} <8802> (853) the ark {727} of the covenant {1285} of the LORD, {3068} and unto (413) all (3605) the elders {2205} of Israel. {3478}

31:10 And Moses {4872} commanded {6680} <8762> them, saying, {559} <8800> At the end {7093} (4480) of [every] seven {7651} years, {8141} in the solemnity {4150} of the year {8141} of release, {8059} in the feast {2282} of tabernacles, {5521}

31:11 When all (3605) Israel {3478} is come {935} <8800> to appear {7200} <8736> (853) before {6440} the LORD {3068} thy God {430} in the place {4725} which (834) he shall choose, {977} <8799> thou shalt read {7121} <8799> (853) this (2063) law {8451} before (5048) all (3605) Israel {3478} in their hearing. {241}

31:12 Gather [6950] <0> the people [5971] together, {6950} <8685> (853) (5971) men, [582] (376) and women, {802} and children, {2945} and thy stranger {1616} that (834) [is] within thy gates, {8179} that (4616) they may hear, {8085} <8799> and that (4616) they may learn, {3925} <8799> and fear {3372} <8804> (853) the LORD {3068} your God, {430} and observe {8104} <8804> to do {6213} <8800> (853) all (3605) the words {1697} of this (2063) law: {8451}

31:13 And [that] their children, {1121} which (834) have not (3808) known {3045} <8804> [any thing], may hear, {8085} <8799> and learn {3925} <8804> to fear {3372} <8800> (853) the LORD {3068} your God, {430} as long as {3117} (3605) (834) ye (859) live {2416} in (5921) the land {127} whither (834) (8033) ye (859) go over {5674} <8802> (853) Jordan {3383} to possess {3423} <8800> it.

31:14 ¶ And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Moses, {4872} Behold, (2005) thy days {3117} approach {7126} <8804> that thou must die: {4191} <8800> call {7121} <8798> (853) Joshua, {3091} and present [3320] <8690> yourselves (3320) in the tabernacle {168} of the congregation, {4150} that I may give him a charge. {6680} <8762> And Moses {4872} and Joshua {3091} went, [3212] <8799> (1980) and presented [3320] <8691> themselves (3320) in the tabernacle {168} of the congregation. {4150}

31:15 And the LORD {3068} appeared {7200} <8735> in the tabernacle {168} in a pillar {5982} of a cloud: {6051} and the pillar {5982} of the cloud {6051} stood {5975} <8799> over (5921) the door {6607} of the tabernacle. {168}

31:16 ¶ And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Moses, {4872} Behold, (2009) thou shalt sleep {7901} <8802> with (5973) thy fathers; {1} and this (2088) people {5971} will rise up, {6965} <8804> and go a whoring {2181} <8804> after {310} the gods {430} of the strangers {5236} of the land, {776} whither (834) (8033) they (1931) go {935} <8802> [to be] among {7130} them, and will forsake {5800} <8804> me, and break {6565} <8689> (853) my covenant {1285} which (834) I have made {3772} <8804> with (854) them.

31:17 Then my anger {639} shall be kindled {2734} <8804> against them in that (1931) day, {3117} and I will forsake {5800} <8804> them, and I will hide {5641} <8689> my face {6440} from (4480) them, and they shall be (1961) devoured, {398} <8800> and many {7227} evils {7451} and troubles {6869} shall befall {4672} <8804> them; so that they will say {559} <8804> in that (1931) day, {3117} Are not (3808) these (428) evils {7451} come [4672] <8804> upon (4672) us, because (5921) (3588) our God {430} [is] not (369) among {7130} us?

31:18 And I (595) will surely [5641] <8687> hide {5641} <8686> my face {6440} in that (1931) day {3117} for (5921) all (3605) the evils {7451} which (834) they shall have wrought, {6213} <8804> in that {3588} they are turned {6437} <8804> unto (413) other {312} gods. {430}

31:19 Now (6258) therefore write {3789} <8798> (853) ye this (2063) song {7892} for you, and teach {3925} <8761> it (853) the children {1121} of Israel: {3478} put {7760} <8798> it in their mouths, {6310} that (4616) this (2063) song {7892} may be (1961) a witness {5707} for me against the children {1121} of Israel. {3478}

31:20 For (3588) when I shall have brought {935} <8686> them into (413) the land {127} which (834) I sware {7650} <8738> unto their fathers, {1} that floweth {2100} <8802> with milk {2461} and honey; {1706} and they shall have eaten {398} <8804> and filled [7646] <8804> themselves, (7646) and waxen fat; {1878} <8804> then will they turn {6437} <8804> unto (413) other {312} gods, {430} and serve {5647} <8804> them, and provoke {5006} <8765> me, and break {6565} <8689> (853) my covenant. {1285}

31:21 And it shall come to pass, (1961) when (3588) many {7227} evils {7451} and troubles {6869} are befallen {4672} <8799> them, that this (2063) song {7892} shall testify {6030} <8804> against {6440} them as a witness; {5707} for (3588) it shall not (3808) be forgotten {7911} <8735> out of the mouths {6310} (4480) of their seed: {2233} for (3588) I know {3045} <8804> (853) their imagination {3336} which (834) they (1931) go about, {6213} <8802> even now, {3117} before (2962) I have brought {935} <8686> them into (413) the land {776} which (834) I sware. {7650} <8738>

31:22 ¶ Moses {4872} therefore wrote {3789} <8799> (853) this (2063) song {7892} the same (1931) day, {3117} and taught {3925} <8762> it (853) the children {1121} of Israel. {3478}

31:23 And he gave (6680) (853) Joshua {3091} the son {1121} of Nun {5126} a charge, [6680] <8762> and said, {559} <8799> Be strong {2388} <8798> and of a good courage: {553} <8798> for (3588) thou (859) shalt bring {935} <8686> (853) the children {1121} of Israel {3478} into (413) the land {776} which (834) I sware {7650} <8738> unto them: and I (595) will be (1961) with (5973) thee.

31:24 ¶ And it came to pass, (1961) when Moses {4872} had made an end {3615} <8763> of writing {3789} <8800> (853) the words {1697} of this (2063) law {8451} in (5921) a book, {5612} until (5704) they were finished, {8552} <8800>

31:25 That Moses {4872} commanded {6680} <8762> (853) the Levites, {3881} which bare {5375} <8802> the ark {727} of the covenant {1285} of the LORD, {3068} saying, {559} <8800>

31:26 Take {3947} <8800> (853) this (2088) book {5612} of the law, {8451} and put {7760} <8804> it in the side {6654} (4480) of the ark {727} of the covenant {1285} of the LORD {3068} your God, {430} that it may be (1961) there (8033) for a witness {5707} against thee.

31:27 For (3588) I (595) know {3045} <8804> (853) thy rebellion, {4805} and thy stiff {7186} neck: {6203} behold, (2005) while I am yet (5750) alive {2416} with (5973) you this day, {3117} ye have been (1961) rebellious {4784} <8688> against (5973) the LORD; {3068} and how (3588) much more (637) after {310} my death? {4194}

31:28 ¶ Gather {6950} <8685> unto (413) me (853) all (3605) the elders {2205} of your tribes, {7626} and your officers, {7860} <8802> that I may speak {1696} <8762> (853) these (428) words {1697} in their ears, {241} and call {5749} <0> (853) heaven {8064} and earth {776} to record [5749] <8686> against them.

31:29 For (3588) I know {3045} <8804> that after {310} my death {4194} ye will utterly [7843] <8687> corrupt {7843} <8686> [yourselves], and turn aside {5493} <8804> from (4480) the way {1870} which (834) I have commanded {6680} <8765> you; and evil {7451} will befall {7122} <8804> you in the latter {319} days; {3117} because (3588) ye will do {6213} <8799> (853) evil {7451} in the sight {5869} of the LORD, {3068} to provoke him to anger {3707} <8687> through the work {4639} of your hands. {3027}

31:30 And Moses {4872} spake {1696} <8762> in the ears {241} of all (3605) the congregation {6951} of Israel {3478} (853) the words {1697} of this (2063) song, {7892} until (5704) they were ended. {8552} <8800>
