Chapter 6

1  The end of the Law is obedience.  3  An exhortation thereto.

6:1 ¶ Now these (2063) [are] the commandments, {4687} the statutes, {2706} and the judgments, {4941} which (834) the LORD {3068} your God {430} commanded {6680} <8765> to teach {3925} <8763> you, that ye might do {6213} <8800> [them] in the land {776} whither (834) (8033) ye (859) go {5674} <8802> to possess {3423} <8800> it:

6:2 That (4616) thou mightest fear {3372} <8799> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} to keep {8104} <8800> (853) all (3605) his statutes {2708} and his commandments, {4687} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> thee, thou, (859) and thy son, {1121} and thy son's {1121} son, {1121} all (3605) the days {3117} of thy life; {2416} and that (4616) thy days {3117} may be prolonged. {748} <8686>

6:3 ¶ Hear {8085} <8804> therefore, O Israel, {3478} and observe {8104} <8804> to do {6213} <8800> [it]; that (834) it may be well {3190} <8799> with thee, and that (834) ye may increase {7235} <8799> mightily, {3966} as (834) the LORD {3068} God {430} of thy fathers {1} hath promised {1696} <8765> thee, in the land {776} that floweth {2100} <8802> with milk {2461} and honey. {1706}

6:4 Hear, {8085} <8798> O Israel: {3478} The LORD {3068} our God {430} [is] one {259} LORD: {3068}

6:5 And thou shalt love {157} <8804> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} with all (3605) thine heart, {3824} and with all (3605) thy soul, {5315} and with all (3605) thy might. {3966}

6:6 And these (428) words, {1697} which (834) I (595) command {6680} <8764> thee this day, {3117} shall be (1961) in (5921) thine heart: {3824}

6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently {8150} <8765> unto thy children, {1121} and shalt talk {1696} <8765> of them when thou sittest {3427} <8800> in thine house, {1004} and when thou walkest [3212] <8800> (1980) by the way, {1870} and when thou liest down, {7901} <8800> and when thou risest up. {6965} <8800>

6:8 And thou shalt bind {7194} <8804> them for a sign {226} upon (5921) thine hand, {3027} and they shall be (1961) as frontlets {2903} between (996) thine eyes. {5869}

6:9 And thou shalt write {3789} <8804> them upon (5921) the posts {4201} of thy house, {1004} and on thy gates. {8179}

6:10 And it shall be, (1961) when (3588) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} shall have brought {935} <8686> thee into (413) the land {776} which (834) he sware {7650} <8738> unto thy fathers, {1} to Abraham, {85} to Isaac, {3327} and to Jacob, {3290} to give {5414} <8800> thee great {1419} and goodly {2896} cities, {5892} which (834) thou buildedst {1129} <8804> not, (3808)

6:11 And houses {1004} full {4392} of all (3605) good {2898} [things], which (834) thou filledst {4390} <8765> not, (3808) and wells {953} digged, {2672} <8803> which (834) thou diggedst {2672} <8804> not, (3808) vineyards {3754} and olive trees, {2132} which (834) thou plantedst {5193} <8804> not; (3808) when thou shalt have eaten {398} <8804> and be full; {7646} <8804>

6:12 [Then] beware {8104} <8734> lest (6435) thou forget {7911} <8799> (853) the LORD, {3068} which (834) brought thee forth {3318} <8689> out of the land {776} (4480) of Egypt, {4714} from the house {1004} (4480) of bondage. {5650}

6:13 Thou shalt fear {3372} <8799> (853) the LORD {3068} thy God, {430} and serve {5647} <8799> him, and shalt swear {7650} <8735> by his name. {8034}

6:14 Ye shall not (3808) go [3212] <8799> (1980) after {310} other {312} gods, {430} of the gods {430} (4480) of the people {5971} which (834) [are] round about {5439} you;

6:15 (For (3588) the LORD {3068} thy God {430} [is] a jealous {7067} God {410} among {7130} you) lest (6435) the anger {639} of the LORD {3068} thy God {430} be kindled {2734} <8799> against thee, and destroy {8045} <8689> thee from off (4480) (5921) the face {6440} of the earth. {127}

6:16 ¶ Ye shall not (3808) tempt {5254} <8762> (853) the LORD {3068} your God, {430} as (834) ye tempted {5254} <8765> [him] in Massah. {4532}

6:17 Ye shall diligently [8104] <8800> keep {8104} <8799> (853) the commandments {4687} of the LORD {3068} your God, {430} and his testimonies, {5713} and his statutes, {2706} which (834) he hath commanded {6680} <8765> thee.

6:18 And thou shalt do {6213} <8804> [that which is] right {3477} and good {2896} in the sight {5869} of the LORD: {3068} that (4616) it may be well {3190} <8799> with thee, and that thou mayest go in {935} <8804> and possess {3423} <8804> (853) the good {2896} land {776} which (834) the LORD {3068} sware {7650} <8738> unto thy fathers, {1}

6:19 To cast out {1920} <8800> (853) all (3605) thine enemies {341} <8802> from before {6440} (4480) thee, as (834) the LORD {3068} hath spoken. {1696} <8765>

6:20 [And] when (3588) thy son {1121} asketh {7592} <8799> thee in time to come, {4279} saying, {559} <8800> What (4100) [mean] the testimonies, {5713} and the statutes, {2706} and the judgments, {4941} which (834) the LORD {3068} our God {430} hath commanded {6680} <8765> you?

6:21 Then thou shalt say {559} <8804> unto thy son, {1121} We were (1961) Pharaoh's {6547} bondmen {5650} in Egypt; {4714} and the LORD {3068} brought us out {3318} <8686> of Egypt {4714} (4480) with a mighty {2389} hand: {3027}

6:22 And the LORD {3068} shewed {5414} <8799> signs {226} and wonders, {4159} great {1419} and sore, {7451} upon Egypt, {4714} upon Pharaoh, {6547} and upon all (3605) his household, {1004} before our eyes: {5869}

6:23 And he brought us out {3318} <8689> (853) from thence, (4480) (8033) that (4616) he might bring us in, {935} <8687> (853) to give {5414} <8800> us (853) the land {776} which (834) he sware {7650} <8738> unto our fathers. {1}

6:24 And the LORD {3068} commanded {6680} <8762> us to do {6213} <8800> (853) all (3605) these (428) statutes, {2706} to fear {3372} <8800> the (853) LORD {3068} our God, {430} for our good {2896} always, {3117} (3605) that he might preserve us alive, {2421} <8763> as [it is] at this (2088) day. {3117}

6:25 And it shall be (1961) our righteousness, {6666} if (3588) we observe {8104} <8799> to do {6213} <8800> (853) all (3605) these {2063} commandments {4687} before {6440} the LORD {3068} our God, {430} as (834) he hath commanded {6680} <8765> us.
