1 Enoch (Ethiopic) Parallel Translations

XXXIV-XXXV. ENOCH'S JOURNEY TO THE NORTH.

Charles < < Chapter XXXIV / Chapter 33 > > Laurence

XXXIV

1And from thence I went towards the north to the ends of the earth, and there I saw a great and 2glorious device at the ends of the whole earth. And here I saw three portals of heaven open in the heaven: through each of them proceed north winds: when they blow there is cold, hail, frost, 3snow, dew, and rain. And out of one portal they blow for good: but when they blow through the other two portals, it is with violence and affliction on the earth, and they blow with violence.

33

33:1 From there I advanced on towards the north, to the extremities of the earth.

33:2 And there I saw a great and glorious wonder at the extremities of the whole earth.

33:3 I saw there heavenly gates opening into heaven; three of them distinctly separated. The northern winds proceeded from them, blowing cold, hail, frost, snow, dew, and rain.

33:4 From one of the gates they blew mildly; but when they blew from the two [other gates], it was with violence and force. They blew over the earth strongly.
