Esther

Chapter 7

1  Esther intertaining the king and Haman, maketh suit for her owne life, and her people's.  5  She accuseth Haman.  7  The king in his anger understanding of the gallows, which Haman had made for Mordecai, causeth him to be hanged thereon.

7:1 ¶ So the king {4428} and Haman {2001} came {935} <8799> to banquet {8354} <8800> with (5973) Esther {635} the queen. {4436}

7:2 And the king {4428} said {559} <8799> again (1571) unto Esther {635} on the second {8145} day {3117} at the banquet {4960} of wine, {3196} What (4100) [is] thy petition, {7596} queen {4436} Esther? {635} and it shall be granted {5414} <8735> thee: and what (4100) [is] thy request? {1246} and it shall be performed, {6213} <8735> [even] to (5704) the half {2677} of the kingdom. {4438}

7:3 Then Esther {635} the queen {4436} answered {6030} <8799> and said, {559} <8799> If (518) I have found {4672} <8804> favour {2580} in thy sight, {5869} O king, {4428} and if (518) it please {2895} <8804> (5921) the king, {4428} let my life {5315} be given {5414} <8735> me at my petition, {7596} and my people {5971} at my request: {1246}

7:4 For (3588) we are sold, {4376} <8738> I (589) and my people, {5971} to be destroyed, {8045} <8687> to be slain, {2026} <8800> and to perish. {6} <8763> But if {432} we had been sold {4376} <8738> for bondmen {5650} and bondwomen, {8198} I had held my tongue, {2790} <8689> although (3588) the enemy {6862} could not (369) countervail {7737} <8802> the king's {4428} damage. {5143}

7:5 ¶ Then the king {4428} Ahasuerus {325} answered {559} <8799> and said {559} <8799> unto Esther {635} the queen, {4436} Who (4310) is he, (1931) (2088) and where (335) is he, (2088) (1931) that (834) durst presume {4390} <8804> in his heart {3820} to do {6213} <8800> so? (3651)

7:6 And Esther {635} said, {559} <8799> The adversary {376} {6862} and enemy {341} <8802> [is] this (2088) wicked {7451} Haman. {2001} Then Haman {2001} was afraid {1204} <8738> before {6440} (4480) the king {4428} and the queen. {4436}

7:7 ¶ And the king {4428} arising {6965} <8804> from the banquet {4960} (4480) of wine {3196} in his wrath {2534} [went] into (413) the palace {1055} garden: {1594} and Haman {2001} stood up {5975} <8804> to make request {1245} <8763> for (5921) his life {5315} to Esther {635} (4480) the queen; {4436} for (3588) he saw {7200} <8804> that (3588) there was evil {7451} determined {3615} <8804> against (413) him by (4480) (854) the king. {4428}

7:8 Then the king {4428} returned {7725} <8804> out of the palace [1055] garden {1594} (4480) (1055) into (413) the place {1004} of the banquet {4960} of wine; {3196} and Haman {2001} was fallen {5307} <8802> upon (5921) the bed {4296} whereon (834) (5921) Esther {635} [was]. Then said {559} <8799> the king, {4428} Will he force {3533} <8800> (853) the queen {4436} also (1571) before (5973) me in the house? {1004} As the word {1697} went out {3318} <8804> of the king's [4428] mouth, {6310} (4480) (4428) they covered {2645} <8804> Haman's {2001} face. {6440}

7:9 And Harbonah, {2726} one {259} of (4480) the chamberlains, {5631} said {559} <8799> before {6440} the king, {4428} Behold (2009) also, (1571) the gallows {6086} fifty {2572} cubits {520} high, {1364} which (834) Haman {2001} had made {6213} <8804> for Mordecai, {4782} who (834) had spoken {1696} <8765> good {2896} for (5921) the king, {4428} standeth {5975} <8802> in the house {1004} of Haman. {2001} Then the king {4428} said, {559} <8799> Hang {8518} <8798> him thereon. (5921)

7:10 So they hanged {8518} <8799> (853) Haman {2001} on (5921) the gallows {6086} that (834) he had prepared {3559} <8689> for Mordecai. {4782} Then was the king's {4428} wrath {2534} pacified. {7918} <8804>
