Chapter 12

1  The type of Ezekiel's removing.  8  It sheweth the captivity of Zedekiah.  17  Ezekiel's trembling sheweth the Jews' desolation.  21  The Jews' presumptuous proverb is reproved.  26  The speediness of the vision.

12:1 ¶ The word {1697} of the LORD {3068} also came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

12:2 Son {1121} of man, {120} thou (859) dwellest {3427} <8802> in the midst {8432} of a rebellious {4805} house, {1004} which (834) have eyes {5869} to see, {7200} <8800> and see {7200} <8804> not; (3808) they have ears {241} to hear, {8085} <8800> and hear {8085} <8804> not: (3808) for (3588) they (1992) [are] a rebellious {4805} house. {1004}

12:3 Therefore, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} prepare {6213} <8798> thee stuff {3627} for removing, {1473} and remove {1540} <8798> by day {3119} in their sight; {5869} and thou shalt remove {1540} <8804> from thy place {4725} (4480) to (413) another {312} place {4725} in their sight: {5869} it may be (194) they will consider, {7200} <8799> though (3588) they (1992) [be] a rebellious {4805} house. {1004}

12:4 Then shalt thou bring forth {3318} <8689> thy stuff {3627} by day {3119} in their sight, {5869} as stuff {3627} for removing: {1473} and thou (859) shalt go forth {3318} <8799> at even {6153} in their sight, {5869} as they that go forth {4161} into captivity. {1473}

12:5 Dig {2864} <8798> thou through the wall {7023} in their sight, {5869} and carry out {3318} <8689> thereby.

12:6 In their sight {5869} shalt thou bear {5375} <8799> [it] upon (5921) [thy] shoulders, {3802} [and] carry [it] forth {3318} <8686> in the twilight: {5939} thou shalt cover {3680} <8762> thy face, {6440} that thou see {7200} <8799> not (3808) (853) the ground: {776} for (3588) I have set {5414} <8804> thee [for] a sign {4159} unto the house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

12:7 And I did {6213} <8799> so (3651) as (834) I was commanded: {6680} <8795> I brought forth {3318} <8689> my stuff {3627} by day, {3119} as stuff {3627} for captivity, {1473} and in the even {6153} I digged {2864} <8804> through the wall {7023} with mine hand; {3027} I brought [it] forth {3318} <8689> in the twilight, {5939} [and] I bare {5375} <8804> [it] upon (5921) [my] shoulder {3802} in their sight. {5869}

12:8 ¶ And in the morning {1242} came (1961) the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

12:9 Son {1121} of man, {120} hath not (3808) the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} the rebellious {4805} house, {1004} said {559} <8804> unto (413) thee, What (4100) doest {6213} <8802> thou? (859)

12:10 Say {559} <8798> thou unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} This (2088) burden {4853} [concerneth] the prince {5387} in Jerusalem, {3389} and all (3605) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} that (834) [are] among {8432} them.

12:11 Say, {559} <8798> I (589) [am] your sign: {4159} like as (834) I have done, {6213} <8804> so (3651) shall it be done {6213} <8735> unto them: they shall remove {1473} [and] go [3212] <8799> (1980) into captivity. {7628}

12:12 And the prince {5387} that (834) [is] among {8432} them shall bear {5375} <8799> upon (413) [his] shoulder {3802} in the twilight, {5939} and shall go forth: {3318} <8799> they shall dig {2864} <8799> through the wall {7023} to carry out {3318} <8687> thereby: he shall cover {3680} <8762> his face, {6440} that {3282} (834) he (1931) see {7200} <8799> not (3808) (853) the ground {776} with [his] eyes. {5869}

12:13 (853) My net {7568} also will I spread {6566} <8804> upon (5921) him, and he shall be taken {8610} <8738> in my snare: {4686} and I will bring {935} <8689> him to Babylon {894} [to] the land {776} of the Chaldeans; {3778} yet shall he not (3808) see {7200} <8799> it, though he shall die {4191} <8799> there. (8033)

12:14 And I will scatter {2219} <8762> toward every (3605) wind {7307} all (3605) that (834) [are] about {5439} him to help {5828} him, and all (3605) his bands; {102} and I will draw out {7324} <8686> the sword {2719} after {310} them.

12:15 And they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} when I shall scatter {6327} <8687> them among the nations, {1471} and disperse {2219} <8765> them in the countries. {776}

12:16 But I will leave {3498} <8689> a few {4557} men [582] (376) of (4480) them from the sword, {2719} (4480) from the famine, {7458} (4480) and from the pestilence; {1698} (4480) that (4616) they may declare {5608} <8762> (853) all (3605) their abominations {8441} among the heathen {1471} whither (834) (8033) they come; {935} <8804> and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

12:17 ¶ Moreover the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) to (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

12:18 Son {1121} of man, {120} eat {398} <8799> thy bread {3899} with quaking, {7494} and drink {8354} <8799> thy water {4325} with trembling {7269} and with carefulness; {1674}

12:19 And say {559} <8804> unto (413) the people {5971} of the land, [127] (776) Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD {3069} of the inhabitants {3427} <8802> of Jerusalem, {3389} [and] of (413) the land [776] (127) of Israel; {3478} They shall eat {398} <8799> their bread {3899} with carefulness, {1674} and drink {8354} <8799> their water {4325} with astonishment, {8078} that (4616) her land {776} may be desolate {3456} <8799> from all that is therein, {4393} (4480) because of the violence {2555} (4480) of all (3605) them that dwell {3427} <8802> therein.

12:20 And the cities {5892} that are inhabited {3427} <8737> shall be laid waste, {2717} <8799> and the land {776} shall be (1961) desolate; {8077} and ye shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

12:21 ¶ And the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

12:22 Son {1121} of man, {120} what (4100) [is] that (2088) proverb {4912} [that] ye have in (5921) the land {127} of Israel, {3478} saying, {559} <8800> The days {3117} are prolonged, {748} <8799> and every (3605) vision {2377} faileth? {6} <8804>

12:23 Tell {559} <8798> (413) them therefore, (3651) Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} I will make this (2088) proverb {4912} (853) to cease, {7673} <8689> and they shall no (3808) more (5750) use it as a proverb {4911} <8799> (853) in Israel; {3478} but (3588) (518) say {1696} <8761> unto (413) them, The days {3117} are at hand, {7126} <8804> and the effect {1697} of every (3605) vision. {2377}

12:24 For (3588) there shall be (1961) no (3808) more (5750) any (3605) vain {7723} vision {2377} nor flattering {2509} divination {4738} within {8432} the house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

12:25 For (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD: {3068} I will speak, {1696} <8762> and the word {1697} (853) that (834) I shall speak {1696} <8762> shall come to pass; {6213} <8735> it shall be no (3808) more (5750) prolonged: {4900} <8735> for (3588) in your days, {3117} O rebellious {4805} house, {1004} will I say {1696} <8762> the word, {1697} and will perform {6213} <8804> it, saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

12:26 ¶ Again the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) to (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

12:27 Son {1121} of man, {120} behold, (2009) [they of] the house {1004} of Israel {3478} say, {559} <8802> The vision {2377} that (834) he (1931) seeth {2372} <8802> [is] for many {7227} days {3117} [to come], and he (1931) prophesieth {5012} <8738> of the times {6256} [that are] far [7350] off. (7350)

12:28 Therefore (3651) say {559} <8798> unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} There shall none (3808) (3605) of my words {1697} be prolonged {4900} <8735> any more, (5750) but the word {1697} which (834) I have spoken {1696} <8762> shall be done, {6213} <8735> saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}
