Ezekiel

Chapter 14

1  God answereth idolaters according to their own heart.  6  They are exhorted to repent, for fear of judgments, by means of seduced prophets.  12  God's irrevocable sentence of famine,  15  of noisome beasts,  17  of the sword,  19  and of pestilence.  22  A remnant shall be reserved for example of others.

14:1 ¶ Then came {935} <8799> certain [582] (376) of the elders {2205} (4480) of Israel {3478} unto (413) me, and sat {3427} <8799> before {6440} me.

14:2 And the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

14:3 Son {1121} of man, {120} these (428) men [582] (376) have set up {5927} <8689> their idols {1544} in (5921) their heart, {3820} and put {5414} <8804> the stumblingblock {4383} of their iniquity {5771} before {5227} their face: {6440} should I be enquired [1875] <8735> of at all {1875} <8736> by them?

14:4 Therefore (3651) speak {1696} <8761> unto them, and say {559} <8804> unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Every man {376} of the house {1004} (4480) of Israel {3478} that (834) setteth up {5927} <8686> (853) his idols {1544} in (413) his heart, {3820} and putteth {7760} <8799> the stumblingblock {4383} of his iniquity {5771} before {5227} his face, {6440} and cometh {935} <8804> to (413) the prophet; {5030} I (589) the LORD {3068} will answer {6030} <8738> him that cometh {935} <8804> according to the multitude {7230} of his idols; {1544}

14:5 That (4616) I may take {8610} <8800> (853) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} in their own heart, {3820} because (834) they are all (3605) estranged {2114} <8738> from (4480) (5921) me through their idols. {1544}

14:6 ¶ Therefore (3651) say {559} <8798> unto (413) the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Repent, {7725} <8798> and turn {7725} <8685> [yourselves] from (4480) (5921) your idols; {1544} and turn away {7725} <8685> your faces {6440} from (4480) (5921) all (3605) your abominations. {8441}

14:7 For (3588) every one {376} of the house {1004} (4480) of Israel, {3478} or of the stranger {1616} (4480) that (834) sojourneth {1481} <8799> in Israel, {3478} which separateth [5144] <8735> himself (5144) from (4480) (310) me, [310] and setteth up {5927} <8799> his idols {1544} in (413) his heart, {3820} and putteth {7760} <8799> the stumblingblock {4383} of his iniquity {5771} before {5227} his face, {6440} and cometh {935} <8804> to (413) a prophet {5030} to enquire {1875} <8800> of him concerning me; I (589) the LORD {3068} will answer {6030} <8737> him by myself:

14:8 And I will set {5414} <8804> my face {6440} against that (1931) man, {376} and will make [8074] <8689> (7760) him a sign {226} and a proverb, {4912} and I will cut him off {3772} <8689> from the midst {8432} (4480) of my people; {5971} and ye shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

14:9 And if (3588) the prophet {5030} be deceived {6601} <8792> when he hath spoken {1696} <8765> a thing, {1697} I (589) the LORD {3068} have deceived {6601} <8765> (853) that (1931) prophet, {5030} and I will stretch out {5186} <8804> (853) my hand {3027} upon (5921) him, and will destroy {8045} <8689> him from the midst {8432} (4480) of my people {5971} Israel. {3478}

14:10 And they shall bear {5375} <8804> the punishment of their iniquity: {5771} the punishment {5771} of the prophet {5030} shall be (1961) even as the punishment {5771} of him that seeketh {1875} <8802> [unto him];

14:11 That (4616) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} may go no (3808) more (5750) astray {8582} <8799> from (4480) (310) me, [310] neither (3808) be polluted {2930} <8691> any more (5750) with all (3605) their transgressions; {6588} but that they may be (1961) my people, {5971} and I (589) may be (1961) their God, {430} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

14:12 ¶ The word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) again to (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

14:13 Son {1121} of man, {120} when (3588) the land {776} sinneth {2398} <8799> against me by trespassing {4603} <8800> grievously, {4604} then will I stretch out {5186} <8804> mine hand {3027} upon (5921) it, and will break {7665} <8804> the staff {4294} of the bread {3899} thereof, and will send {7971} <8689> famine {7458} upon it, and will cut off {3772} <8689> man {120} and beast {929} from (4480) it:

14:14 Though these (428) three {7969} men, [582] (376) Noah, {5146} Daniel, {1840} and Job, {347} were (1961) in (8432) it, [8432] they (1992) should deliver {5337} <8762> [but] their own souls {5315} by their righteousness, {6666} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

14:15 ¶ If {3863} I cause noisome {7451} beasts {2416} to pass (5674) through [5674] <8686> the land, {776} and they spoil {7921} <8765> it, so that it be (1961) desolate, {8077} that no man (4480) (1097) may pass through {5674} <8802> because {6440} (4480) of the beasts: {2416}

14:16 [Though] these (428) three {7969} men [582] (376) [were] in (8432) it, [8432] [as] I (589) live, {2416} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} they (1992) shall deliver {5337} <8686> neither (518) sons {1121} nor (518) daughters; {1323} they only (905) shall be delivered, {5337} <8735> but the land {776} shall be (1961) desolate. {8077}

14:17 ¶ Or (176) [if] I bring {935} <8686> a sword {2719} upon (5921) that (1931) land, {776} and say, {559} <8804> Sword, {2719} go (5674) through [5674] <8799> the land; {776} so that I cut off {3772} <8689> man {120} and beast {929} from (4480) it:

14:18 Though these (428) three {7969} men [582] (376) [were] in (8432) it, [8432] [as] I (589) live, {2416} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} they shall deliver {5337} <8686> neither (3808) sons {1121} nor daughters, {1323} but (3588) they (1992) only (905) shall be delivered [5337] <8735> themselves. (5337)

14:19 ¶ Or (176) [if] I send {7971} <8762> a pestilence {1698} into (413) that (1931) land, {776} and pour out {8210} <8804> my fury {2534} upon (5921) it in blood, {1818} to cut off {3772} <8687> from (4480) it man {120} and beast: {929}

14:20 Though Noah, {5146} Daniel, {1840} and Job, {347} [were] in (8432) it, [8432] [as] I (589) live, {2416} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} they (1992) shall deliver {5337} <8686> neither (518) son {1121} nor {518} daughter; {1323} they shall [but] deliver {5337} <8686> their own souls {5315} by their righteousness. {6666}

14:21 For (3588) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} How much more (637) when (3588) I send {7971} <8765> my four {702} sore {7451} judgments {8201} upon (413) Jerusalem, {3389} the sword, {2719} and the famine, {7458} and the noisome {7451} beast, {2416} and the pestilence, {1698} to cut off {3772} <8687> from (4480) it man {120} and beast? {929}

14:22 ¶ Yet, behold, (2009) therein shall be left {3498} <8738> a remnant {6413} that shall be brought forth, {3318} <8716> [both] sons {1121} and daughters: {1323} behold, (2009) they shall come forth {3318} <8802> unto (413) you, and ye shall see {7200} <8804> (853) their way {1870} and their doings: {5949} and ye shall be comforted {5162} <8738> concerning (5921) the evil {7451} that (834) I have brought {935} <8689> upon (5921) Jerusalem, {3389} [even] concerning (854) all (3605) that (834) I have brought {935} <8689> upon (5921) it.

14:23 And they shall comfort {5162} <8765> you, when (3588) ye see {7200} <8799> (853) their ways {1870} and their doings: {5949} and ye shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I have not (3808) done {6213} <8804> without cause {2600} (853) all (3605) that (834) I have done {6213} <8804> in it, saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}
