Chapter 19

1  A lamentation for the princes of Israel, under the parable of lions' whelps taken in a pit,  10  and for Jerusalem, under the parable of a wasted vine.

19:1 ¶ Moreover take thou up {5375} <8798> (859) a lamentation {7015} for (413) the princes {5387} of Israel, {3478}

19:2 And say, {559} <8804> What (4100) [is] thy mother? {517} A lioness: {3833} she lay down {7257} <8804> among (996) lions, {738} she nourished {7235} <8765> her whelps {1482} among {8432} young lions. {3715}

19:3 And she brought up {5927} <8686> one {259} of her whelps: {1482} (4480) it became (1961) a young lion, {3715} and it learned {3925} <8799> to catch {2963} <8800> the prey; {2964} it devoured {398} <8804> men. {120}

19:4 The nations {1471} also heard {8085} <8799> of (413) him; he was taken {8610} <8738> in their pit, {7845} and they brought {935} <8686> him with chains {2397} unto (413) the land {776} of Egypt. {4714}

19:5 Now when she saw {7200} <8799> that (3588) she had waited, {3176} <8738> [and] her hope {8615} was lost, {6} <8804> then she took {3947} <8799> another {259} of her whelps, {1482} (4480) [and] made {7760} <8804> him a young lion. {3715}

19:6 And he went up and down {1980} <8691> among {8432} the lions, {738} he became (1961) a young lion, {3715} and learned {3925} <8799> to catch {2963} <8800> the prey, {2964} [and] devoured {398} <8804> men. {120}

19:7 And he knew {3045} <8799> their desolate palaces, [490] (759) and he laid waste {2717} <8689> their cities; {5892} and the land {776} was desolate, {3456} <8799> and the fulness {4393} thereof, by the noise {6963} (4480) of his roaring. {7581}

19:8 Then the nations {1471} set {5414} <8799> against (5921) him on every side {5439} from the provinces, {4082} (4480) and spread {6566} <8799> their net {7568} over (5921) him: he was taken {8610} <8738> in their pit. {7845}

19:9 And they put {5414} <8799> him in ward {5474} in chains, {2397} and brought {935} <8686> him to (413) the king {4428} of Babylon: {894} they brought {935} <8686> him into holds, [4685] (4679) that (4616) his voice {6963} should no (3808) more (5750) be heard {8085} <8735> upon (413) the mountains {2022} of Israel. {3478}

19:10 ¶ Thy mother {517} [is] like a vine {1612} in thy blood, {1818} q8676- planted {8362} <8803> by (5921) the waters: {4325} she was (1961) fruitful {6509} <8802> and full of branches {6058} by reason of many {7227} waters. {4325} (4480)

19:11 And she had (1961) strong {5797} rods {4294} for (413) the sceptres {7626} of them that bare rule, {4910} <8802> and her stature {6967} was exalted {1361} <8799> among (5921) (996) the thick branches, {5688} and she appeared {7200} <8735> in her height {1363} with the multitude {7230} of her branches. {1808}

19:12 But she was plucked up {5428} <8714> in fury, {2534} she was cast down {7993} <8717> to the ground, {776} and the east {6921} wind {7307} dried up {3001} <8689> her fruit: {6529} her strong {5797} rods {4294} were broken {6561} <8694> and withered; {3001} <8804> the fire {784} consumed {398} <8804> them.

19:13 And now (6258) she [is] planted {8362} <8803> in the wilderness, {4057} in a dry {6723} and thirsty {6772} ground. {776}

19:14 And fire {784} is gone out {3318} <8799> of a rod {4294} (4480) of her branches, {905} [which] hath devoured {398} <8804> her fruit, {6529} so that she hath (1961) no (3808) strong {5797} rod {4294} [to be] a sceptre {7626} to rule. {4910} <8800> This (1931) [is] a lamentation, {7015} and shall be (1961) for a lamentation. {7015}
