Ezekiel

Chapter 28

1  God's judgment upon the prince of Tyrus for his sacrilegious pride.  11  A lamentation of his great glory corrupted by sin.  20  The judgment of Zidon.  24  The restoration of Israel.

28:1 ¶ The word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) again unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

28:2 Son {1121} of man, {120} say {559} <8798> unto the prince {5057} of Tyrus, {6865} Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because (3282) thine heart {3820} [is] lifted up, {1361} <8804> and thou hast said, {559} <8799> I (589) [am] a God, {410} I sit {3427} <8804> [in] the seat {4186} of God, {430} in the midst {3820} of the seas; {3220} yet thou (859) [art] a man, {120} and not (3808) God, {410} though thou set {5414} <8799> thine heart {3820} as the heart {3820} of God: {430}

28:3 Behold, (2009) thou (859) [art] wiser {2450} than Daniel; {1840} (4480) there is no (3808) secret {5640} <8803> that they can hide {6004} <8804> from thee:

28:4 With thy wisdom {2451} and with thine understanding {8394} thou hast gotten {6213} <8804> thee riches, {2428} and hast gotten {6213} <8799> gold {2091} and silver {3701} into thy treasures: {214}

28:5 By thy great {7230} wisdom {2451} [and] by thy traffick {7404} hast thou increased {7235} <8689> thy riches, {2428} and thine heart {3824} is lifted up {1361} <8799> because of thy riches: {2428}

28:6 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because (3282) thou hast set {5414} <8800> (853) thine heart {3820} as the heart [3824] (3820) of God; {430}

28:7 Behold, (2009) therefore (3651) I will bring {935} <8688> strangers {2114} <8801> upon (5921) thee, the terrible {6184} of the nations: {1471} and they shall draw {7324} <8689> their swords {2719} against (5921) the beauty {3308} of thy wisdom, {2451} and they shall defile {2490} <8765> thy brightness. {3314}

28:8 They shall bring thee down {3381} <8686> to the pit, {7845} and thou shalt die {4191} <8804> the deaths {4463} of [them that are] slain {2491} in the midst {3820} of the seas. {3220}

28:9 Wilt thou yet [559] <8800> say {559} <8799> before {6440} him that slayeth {2026} <8802> thee, I (589) [am] God? {430} but thou (859) [shalt be] a man, {120} and no (3808) God, {410} in the hand {3027} of him that slayeth {2490} <8764> thee.

28:10 Thou shalt die {4191} <8799> the deaths {4194} of the uncircumcised {6189} by the hand {3027} of strangers: {2114} <8801> for (3588) I (589) have spoken {1696} <8765> [it], saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

28:11 ¶ Moreover the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

28:12 Son {1121} of man, {120} take up {5375} <8798> a lamentation {7015} upon (5921) the king {4428} of Tyrus, {6865} and say {559} <8804> unto him, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Thou (859) sealest up {2856} <8802> the sum, {8508} full {4392} of wisdom, {2451} and perfect {3632} in beauty. {3308}

28:13 Thou hast been (1961) in Eden {5731} the garden {1588} of God; {430} every (3605) precious {3368} stone {68} [was] thy covering, {4540} the sardius, {124} topaz, {6357} and the diamond, {3095} the beryl, {8658} the onyx, {7718} and the jasper, {3471} the sapphire, {5601} the emerald, {5306} and the carbuncle, {1304} and gold: {2091} the workmanship {4399} of thy tabrets {8596} and of thy pipes {5345} was prepared {3559} <8797> in thee in the day {3117} that thou wast created. {1254} <8736>

28:14 Thou (859) [art] the anointed {4473} cherub {3742} that covereth; {5526} <8802> and I have set {5414} <8804> thee [so]: thou wast (1961) upon the holy {6944} mountain {2022} of God; {430} thou hast walked up and down {1980} <8694> in the midst {8432} of the stones {68} of fire. {784}

28:15 Thou (859) [wast] perfect {8549} in thy ways {1870} from the day {3117} (4480) that thou wast created, {1254} <8736> till (5704) iniquity {5766} was found {4672} <8738> in thee.

28:16 By the multitude {7230} of thy merchandise {7404} they have filled {4390} <8804> the midst {8432} of thee with violence, {2555} and thou hast sinned: {2398} <8799> therefore I will cast thee as profane {2490} <8762> out of the mountain {2022} (4480) of God: {430} and I will destroy {6} <8762> thee, O covering {5526} <8802> cherub, {3742} from the midst {8432} (4480) of the stones {68} of fire. {784}

28:17 Thine heart {3820} was lifted up {1361} <8804> because of thy beauty, {3308} thou hast corrupted {7843} <8765> thy wisdom {2451} by reason of {5921} thy brightness: {3314} I will cast {7993} <8689> thee to (5921) the ground, {776} I will lay {5414} <8804> thee before {6440} kings, {4428} that they may behold {7200} <8800> thee.

28:18 Thou hast defiled {2490} <8765> thy sanctuaries {4720} by the multitude {7230} (4480) of thine iniquities, {5771} by the iniquity {5766} of thy traffick; {7404} therefore will I bring forth {3318} <8686> a fire {784} from the midst {8432} (4480) of thee, it (1931) shall devour {398} <8804> thee, and I will bring {5414} <8799> thee to ashes {665} upon (5921) the earth {776} in the sight {5869} of all (3605) them that behold {7200} <8802> thee.

28:19 All (3605) they that know {3045} <8802> thee among the people {5971} shall be astonished {8074} <8804> at (5921) thee: thou shalt be (1961) a terror, {1091} and never {369} [shalt] thou [be] any more. {5704} {5769}

28:20 ¶ Again the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

28:21 Son {1121} of man, {120} set {7760} <8798> thy face {6440} against (413) Zidon, {6721} and prophesy {5012} <8734> against (5921) it,

28:22 And say, {559} <8804> Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I [am] against (5921) thee, O Zidon; {6721} and I will be glorified {3513} <8738> in the midst {8432} of thee: and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} when I shall have executed {6213} <8800> judgments {8201} in her, and shall be sanctified {6942} <8738> in her.

28:23 For I will send {7971} <8765> into her pestilence, {1698} and blood {1818} into her streets; {2351} and the wounded {2491} shall be judged {5307} <8768> in the midst {8432} of her by the sword {2719} upon (5921) her on every side; {5439} (4480) and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

28:24 ¶ And there shall be (1961) no (3808) more (5750) a pricking {3992} <8688> brier {5544} unto the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} nor [any] grieving {3510} <8688> thorn {6975} of all (4480) (3605) [that are] round about {5439} them, that despised {7590} <8801> them; and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

28:25 Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} When I shall have gathered {6908} <8763> (853) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} from (4480) the people {5971} among whom (834) they are scattered, {6327} <8738> and shall be sanctified {6942} <8738> in them in the sight {5869} of the heathen, {1471} then shall they dwell {3427} <8804> in (5921) their land {127} that (834) I have given {5414} <8804> to my servant {5650} Jacob. {3290}

28:26 And they shall dwell {3427} <8804> safely {983} therein, (5921) and shall build {1129} <8804> houses, {1004} and plant {5193} <8804> vineyards; {3754} yea, they shall dwell {3427} <8804> with confidence, {983} when I have executed {6213} <8800> judgments {8201} upon all (3605) those that despise {7590} <8801> them round about {5439} (4480) them; and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD {3068} their God. {430}
