Chapter 29

1  The judgment of Pharaoh for his treachery to Israel.  8  The desolation of Egypt.  13  The restoration thereof after forty years.  17  Egypt the reward of Nebuchadressar.  21  Israel shall be restored.

29:1 ¶ In the tenth {6224} year, {8141} in the tenth {6224} [month], in the twelfth {8147} {6240} [day] of the month, {2320} the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

29:2 Son {1121} of man, {120} set {7760} <8798> thy face {6440} against (5921) Pharaoh {6547} king {4428} of Egypt, {4714} and prophesy {5012} <8734> against (5921) him, and against (5921) all (3605) Egypt: {4714}

29:3 Speak, {1696} <8761> and say, {559} <8804> Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I [am] against (5921) thee, Pharaoh {6547} king {4428} of Egypt, {4714} the great {1419} dragon {8577} that lieth {7257} <8802> in the midst {8432} of his rivers, {2975} which (834) hath said, {559} <8804> My river {2975} [is] mine own, and I (589) have made {6213} <8804> [it] for myself.

29:4 But I will put {5414} <8804> hooks {2397} q8676- in thy jaws, {3895} and I will cause the fish {1710} of thy rivers {2975} to stick {1692} <8689> unto thy scales, {7193} and I will bring thee up {5927} <8689> out of the midst {8432} (4480) of thy rivers, {2975} and all (3605) the fish {1710} of thy rivers {2975} shall stick {1692} <8799> unto thy scales. {7193}

29:5 And I will leave {5203} <8804> thee [thrown] into the wilderness, {4057} thee and all (3605) the fish {1710} of thy rivers: {2975} thou shalt fall {5307} <8799> upon (5921) the open {6440} fields; {7704} thou shalt not (3808) be brought together, {622} <8735> nor (3808) gathered: {6908} <8735> I have given {5414} <8804> thee for meat {402} to the beasts {2416} of the field {776} and to the fowls {5775} of the heaven. {8064}

29:6 And all (3605) the inhabitants {3427} <8802> of Egypt {4714} shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} because (3282) they have been (1961) a staff {4938} of reed {7070} to the house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

29:7 When they took hold {8610} <8800> of thee by thy hand, {3709} thou didst break, {7533} <8735> and rend {1234} <8804> all (3605) their shoulder: {3802} and when they leaned {8172} <8736> upon (5921) thee, thou brakest, {7665} <8735> and madest all (3605) their loins {4975} to be at a stand. {5976} <8689>

29:8 ¶ Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I will bring {935} <8688> a sword {2719} upon (5921) thee, and cut off {3772} <8689> man {120} and beast {929} out of (4480) thee.

29:9 And the land {776} of Egypt {4714} shall be (1961) desolate {8077} and waste; {2723} and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD: {3068} because (3282) he hath said, {559} <8804> The river {2975} [is] mine, and I (589) have made {6213} <8804> [it].

29:10 Behold, (2009) therefore (3651) I [am] against (413) thee, and against (413) thy rivers, {2975} and I will make {5414} <8804> (853) the land {776} of Egypt {4714} utterly [2721] waste {2723} (2721) [and] desolate, {8077} from the tower {4024} (4480) of Syene {5482} even unto (5704) the border {1366} of Ethiopia. {3568}

29:11 No (3808) foot {7272} of man {120} shall pass (5674) through [5674] <8799> it, nor (3808) foot {7272} of beast {929} shall pass (5674) through [5674] <8799> it, neither (3808) shall it be inhabited {3427} <8799> forty {705} years. {8141}

29:12 And I will make {5414} <8804> (853) the land {776} of Egypt {4714} desolate {8077} in the midst {8432} of the countries {776} [that are] desolate, {8074} <8737> and her cities {5892} among {8432} the cities {5892} [that are] laid waste {2717} <8716> shall be (1961) desolate {8077} forty {705} years: {8141} and I will scatter {6327} <8689> (853) the Egyptians {4714} among the nations, {1471} and will disperse {2219} <8765> them through the countries. {776}

29:13 ¶ Yet (3588) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} At the end {7093} (4480) of forty {705} years {8141} will I gather {6908} <8762> (853) the Egyptians {4714} from (4480) the people {5971} whither (834) (8033) they were scattered: {6327} <8738>

29:14 And I will bring again {7725} <8804> (853) the captivity {7622} of Egypt, {4714} and will cause them to return {7725} <8689> [into] the land {776} of Pathros, {6624} into (5921) the land {776} of their habitation; {4351} and they shall be (1961) there (8033) a base {8217} kingdom. {4467}

29:15 It shall be (1961) the basest {8217} of (4480) the kingdoms; {4467} neither (3808) shall it exalt [5375] <8691> itself (5375) any more (5750) above (5921) the nations: {1471} for I will diminish {4591} <8689> them, that they shall no more (1115) rule {7287} <8800> over the nations. {1471}

29:16 And it shall be (1961) no (3808) more (5750) the confidence {4009} of the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} which bringeth [2142] <0> [their] iniquity [5771] to remembrance, {2142} <8688> (5771) when they shall look {6437} <8800> after {310} them: but they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

29:17 ¶ And it came to pass (1961) in the seven {7651} and twentieth {6242} year, {8141} in the first {7223} [month], in the first {259} [day] of the month, {2320} the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

29:18 Son {1121} of man, {120} Nebuchadrezzar {5019} king {4428} of Babylon {894} caused [5647] <0> (853) his army {2428} to serve {5647} <8689> a great {1419} service {5656} against (413) Tyrus: {6865} every (3605) head {7218} [was] made bald, {7139} <8716> and every (3605) shoulder {3802} [was] peeled: {4803} <8803> yet had (1961) he no (3808) wages, {7939} nor his army, {2428} for Tyrus, {6865} (4480) for (5921) the service {5656} that (834) he had served {5647} <8804> against (5921) it:

29:19 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I will give {5414} <8802> (853) the land {776} of Egypt {4714} unto Nebuchadrezzar {5019} king {4428} of Babylon; {894} and he shall take {5375} <8804> her multitude, {1995} and take {7997} <8804> her spoil, {7998} and take {962} <8804> her prey; {957} and it shall be (1961) the wages {7939} for his army. {2428}

29:20 I have given {5414} <8804> him (853) the land {776} of Egypt {4714} [for] his labour {6468} wherewith (834) he served {5647} <8804> against it, because (834) they wrought {6213} <8804> for me, saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

29:21 ¶ In that (1931) day {3117} will I cause [6779] <0> the horn {7161} of the house {1004} of Israel {3478} to bud forth, {6779} <8686> and I will give {5414} <8799> thee the opening {6610} of the mouth {6310} in the midst {8432} of them; and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}
