Ezekiel

Chapter 3

1  Ezekiel eateth the roll.  4  God encourageth him.  15  God sheweth him the rule of prophecy.  22  God shutteth and openeth the prophet's mouth.

3:1 ¶ Moreover he said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Son {1121} of man, {120} eat {398} <8798> (853) that (834) thou findest; {4672} <8799> eat {398} <8798> this (2063) (853) roll, {4039} and go [3212] <8798> (1980) speak {1696} <8761> unto (413) the house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

3:2 So I opened {6605} <8799> (853) my mouth, {6310} and he caused me to eat {398} <8686> (853) that (2063) roll. {4039}

3:3 And he said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Son {1121} of man, {120} cause thy belly {990} to eat, {398} <8686> and fill {4390} <8762> thy bowels {4578} with (854) this (2063) roll {4039} that (834) I (589) give {5414} <8802> (413) thee. Then did I eat {398} <8799> [it]; and it was (1961) in my mouth {6310} as honey {1706} for sweetness. {4966}

3:4 ¶ And he said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Son {1121} of man, {120} go, [3212] <8798> (1980) get {935} <8798> thee unto (413) the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} and speak {1696} <8765> with my words {1697} unto (413) them.

3:5 For (3588) thou (859) [art] not (3808) sent {7971} <8803> to (413) a people {5971} of a strange {6012} speech {8193} and of an hard {3515} language, {3956} [but] to (413) the house {1004} of Israel; {3478}

3:6 Not (3808) to (413) many {7227} people {5971} of a strange {6012} speech {8193} and of an hard {3515} language, {3956} whose (834) words {1697} thou canst not (3808) understand. {8085} <8799> Surely, (518) (3808) had I sent {7971} <8804> thee to (413) them, they (1992) would have hearkened {8085} <8799> unto (413) thee.

3:7 But the house {1004} of Israel {3478} will {14} <8799> not (3808) hearken {8085} <8800> unto (413) thee; for (3588) they will {14} <8802> not (369) hearken {8085} <8800> unto (413) me: for (3588) all (3605) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} [are] impudent {2389} {4696} and hardhearted. {7186} {3820}

3:8 Behold, (2009) I have made {5414} <8804> (853) thy face {6440} strong {2389} against {5980} their faces, {6440} and (853) thy forehead {4696} strong {2389} against {5980} their foreheads. {4696}

3:9 As an adamant {8068} harder {2389} than flint {6864} (4480) have I made {5414} <8804> thy forehead: {4696} fear {3372} <8799> them not, (3808) neither (3808) be dismayed {2865} <8735> at their looks, {6440} (4480) though (3588) they (1992) [be] a rebellious {4805} house. {1004}

3:10 Moreover he said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Son {1121} of man, {120} (853) all (3605) my words {1697} that (834) I shall speak {1696} <8762> unto (413) thee receive {3947} <8798> in thine heart, {3824} and hear {8085} <8798> with thine ears. {241}

3:11 And go, [3212] <8798> (1980) get {935} <8798> thee to (413) them of the captivity, {1473} unto (413) the children {1121} of thy people, {5971} and speak {1696} <8765> unto (413) them, and tell {559} <8804> (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} whether (518) they will hear, {8085} <8799> or whether (518) they will forbear. {2308} <8799>

3:12 Then the spirit {7307} took me up, {5375} <8799> and I heard {8085} <8799> behind {310} me a voice {6963} of a great {1419} rushing, {7494} [saying], Blessed {1288} <8803> [be] the glory {3519} of the LORD {3068} from his place. {4725} (4480)

3:13 [I heard] also the noise {6963} of the wings {3671} of the living creatures {2416} that touched {5401} <8688> one {802} another, {269} and the noise {6963} of the wheels {212} over against {5980} them, and a noise {6963} of a great {1419} rushing. {7494}

3:14 So the spirit {7307} lifted me up, {5375} <8804> and took me away, {3947} <8799> and I went [3212] <8799> (1980) in bitterness, {4751} in the heat {2534} of my spirit; {7307} but the hand {3027} of the LORD {3068} was strong [2388] <8804> (2389) upon (5921) me.

3:15 ¶ Then I came {935} <8799> to (413) them of the captivity {1473} at Telabib, {8512} that dwelt {3427} <8802> by (413) the river {5104} of Chebar, {3529} and I sat {3427} <8799> where (8033) they (1992) sat, {3427} <8799> and remained {3427} <8799> there (8033) astonished {8074} <8688> among {8432} them seven {7651} days. {3117}

3:16 And it came to pass (1961) at the end {7097} (4480) of seven {7651} days, {3117} that the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

3:17 Son {1121} of man, {120} I have made {5414} <8804> thee a watchman {6822} <8802> unto the house {1004} of Israel: {3478} therefore hear {8085} <8804> the word {1697} at my mouth, {6310} (4480) and give them warning {2094} <8689> (853) from (4480) me.

3:18 When I say {559} <8800> unto the wicked, {7563} Thou shalt surely [4191] <8800> die; {4191} <8799> and thou givest him not warning, {2094} <8689> (3808) nor (3808) speakest {1696} <8765> to warn {2094} <8687> the wicked {7563} from his wicked {7563} way, {1870} (4480) to save his life; {2421} <8763> the same (1931) wicked {7563} [man] shall die {4191} <8799> in his iniquity; {5771} but his blood {1818} will I require {1245} <8762> at thine hand. {3027} (4480)

3:19 Yet if (3588) thou (859) warn {2094} <8689> the wicked, {7563} and he turn {7725} <8804> not (3808) from his wickedness, {7562} (4480) nor from his wicked {7563} way, {1870} (4480) he (1931) shall die {4191} <8799> in his iniquity; {5771} but thou (859) hast delivered {5337} <8689> (853) thy soul. {5315}

3:20 Again, [7725] <0> When a righteous {6662} [man] doth turn {7725} <8800> from his righteousness, {6664} (4480) and commit {6213} <8804> iniquity, {5766} and I lay {5414} <8804> a stumblingblock {4383} before {6440} him, he (1931) shall die: {4191} <8799> because (3588) thou hast not (3808) given him warning, {2094} <8689> he shall die {4191} <8799> in his sin, {2403} and his righteousness {6666} which (834) he hath done {6213} <8804> shall not (3808) be remembered; {2142} <8735> but his blood {1818} will I require {1245} <8762> at thine hand. {3027} (4480)

3:21 Nevertheless if (3588) thou (859) warn {2094} <8689> the righteous {6662} [man], that the righteous {6662} sin {2398} <8800> not, (1115) and he (1931) doth not (3808) sin, {2398} <8804> he shall surely [2421] <8800> live, {2421} <8799> because (3588) he is warned; {2094} <8737> also thou (859) hast delivered {5337} <8689> (853) thy soul. {5315}

3:22 ¶ And the hand {3027} of the LORD {3068} was (1961) there (8033) upon (5921) me; and he said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Arise, {6965} <8798> go forth {3318} <8798> into (413) the plain, {1237} and I will there (8033) talk {1696} <8762> with (854) thee.

3:23 Then I arose, {6965} <8799> and went forth {3318} <8799> into (413) the plain: {1237} and, behold, (2009) the glory {3519} of the LORD {3068} stood {5975} <8802> there, (8033) as the glory {3519} which (834) I saw {7200} <8804> by (5921) the river {5104} of Chebar: {3529} and I fell {5307} <8799> on (5921) my face. {6440}

3:24 Then the spirit {7307} entered {935} <8799> into me, and set {5975} <8686> me upon (5921) my feet, {7272} and spake {1696} <8762> with (854) me, and said {559} <8799> unto (413) me, Go, {935} <8798> shut [5462] <8734> thyself (5462) within {8432} thine house. {1004}

3:25 But thou, (859) O son {1121} of man, {120} behold, (2009) they shall put {5414} <8804> bands {5688} upon (5921) thee, and shall bind {631} <8804> thee with them, and thou shalt not (3808) go out {3318} <8799> among {8432} them:

3:26 And I will make thy tongue {3956} cleave {1692} <8686> to (413) the roof of thy mouth, {2441} that thou shalt be dumb, {481} <8738> and shalt not (3808) be (1961) to them a reprover: {376} {3198} <8688> for (3588) they (1992) [are] a rebellious {4805} house. {1004}

3:27 But when I speak {1696} <8763> with {854} thee, I will open {6605} <8799> (853) thy mouth, {6310} and thou shalt say {559} <8804> unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} He that heareth, {8085} <8802> let him hear; {8085} <8799> and he that forbeareth, {2310} let him forbear: {2308} <8799> for (3588) they (1992) [are] a rebellious {4805} house. {1004}
