Ezekiel

Chapter 33

1  According to the duty of a watchman, in warning the people,  7  Ezekiel is admonished of his duty.  10  God sheweth the justice of his ways towards the penitent, and towards revolters.  17  He maintaineth his justice.  21  Upon the news of the taking of Jerusalem he prophesieth the desolations of the land.  30  God's judgment upon the mockers of the prophets.

33:1 ¶ Again the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

33:2 Son {1121} of man, {120} speak {1696} <8761> to (413) the children {1121} of thy people, {5971} and say {559} <8804> unto (413) them, When (3588) I bring {935} <8686> the sword {2719} upon (5921) a land, {776} if the people {5971} of the land {776} take {3947} <8804> a {259} man {376} of their coasts, {7097} (4480) and set {5414} <8804> him for their watchman: {6822} <8802>

33:3 If when he seeth {7200} <8804> (853) the sword {2719} come {935} <8802> upon (5921) the land, {776} he blow {8628} <8804> the trumpet, {7782} and warn {2094} <8689> (853) the people; {5971}

33:4 Then whosoever [8085] <8802> heareth {8085} <8804> (853) the sound {6963} of the trumpet, {7782} and taketh not warning; {2094} <8737> (3808) if the sword {2719} come, {935} <8799> and take him away, {3947} <8799> his blood {1818} shall be (1961) upon his own head. {7218}

33:5 He heard {8085} <8804> (853) the sound {6963} of the trumpet, {7782} and took not warning; {2094} <8737> (3808) his blood {1818} shall be (1961) upon him. But he (1931) that taketh warning {2094} <8737> shall deliver {4422} <8765> his soul. {5315}

33:6 But if (3588) the watchman {6822} <8802> see {7200} <8799> (853) the sword {2719} come, {935} <8802> and blow {8628} <8804> not (3808) the trumpet, {7782} and the people {5971} be not (3808) warned; {2094} <8737> if the sword {2719} come, {935} <8799> and take {3947} <8799> [any] person {5315} from among (4480) them, he (1931) is taken away {3947} <8738> in his iniquity; {5771} but his blood {1818} will I require {1875} <8799> at the watchman's {6822} <8802> hand. {3027} (4480)

33:7 ¶ So thou, (859) O son {1121} of man, {120} I have set {5414} <8804> thee a watchman {6822} <8802> unto the house {1004} of Israel; {3478} therefore thou shalt hear {8085} <8804> the word {1697} at my mouth, {6310} (4480) and warn {2094} <8689> them from (4480) me.

33:8 When I say {559} <8800> unto the wicked, {7563} O wicked {7563} [man], thou shalt surely [4191] <8800> die; {4191} <8799> if thou dost not (3808) speak {1696} <8765> to warn {2094} <8687> the wicked {7563} from his way, {1870} (4480) that (1931) wicked {7563} [man] shall die {4191} <8799> in his iniquity; {5771} but his blood {1818} will I require {1245} <8762> at thine hand. {3027} (4480)

33:9 Nevertheless, if (3588) thou (859) warn {2094} <8689> the wicked {7563} of his way {1870} (4480) to turn {7725} <8800> from (4480) it; if he do not (3808) turn {7725} <8804> from his way, {1870} (4480) he (1931) shall die {4191} <8799> in his iniquity; {5771} but thou (859) hast delivered {5337} <8689> thy soul. {5315}

33:10 Therefore, O thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} speak {559} <8798> unto (413) the house {1004} of Israel; {3478} Thus (3651) ye speak, {559} <8804> saying, {559} <8800> If (3588) our transgressions {6588} and our sins {2403} [be] upon (5921) us, and we (587) pine away {4743} <8737> in them, how (349) should we then live? {2421} <8799>

33:11 Say {559} <8798> unto (413) them, [As] I (589) live, {2416} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} I have no pleasure {2654} <8799> (518) in the death {4194} of the wicked; {7563} but (3588) (518) that the wicked {7563} turn {7725} <8800> from his way {1870} (4480) and live: {2421} <8804> turn {7725} <8798> ye, turn {7725} <8798> ye from your evil {7451} ways; {1870} (4480) for why (4100) will ye die, {4191} <8799> O house {1004} of Israel? {3478}

33:12 Therefore, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} say {559} <8798> unto (413) the children {1121} of thy people, {5971} The righteousness {6666} of the righteous {6662} shall not (3808) deliver {5337} <8686> him in the day {3117} of his transgression: {6588} as for the wickedness {7564} of the wicked, {7563} he shall not (3808) fall {3782} <8735> thereby in the day {3117} that he turneth {7725} <8800> from his wickedness; {7562} (4480) neither (3808) shall the righteous {6662} be able {3201} <8799> to live {2421} <8800> for his [righteousness] in the day {3117} that he sinneth. {2398} <8800>

33:13 When I shall say {559} <8800> to the righteous, {6662} [that] he shall surely [2421] <8800> live; {2421} <8799> if he (1931) trust {982} <8804> to (5921) his own righteousness, {6666} and commit {6213} <8804> iniquity, {5766} all (3605) his righteousnesses {6666} shall not (3808) be remembered; {2142} <8735> but for his iniquity {5766} that (834) he hath committed, {6213} <8804> he shall die {4191} <8799> for it.

33:14 Again, when I say {559} <8800> unto the wicked, {7563} Thou shalt surely [4191] <8800> die; {4191} <8799> if he turn {7725} <8804> from his sin, {2403} (4480) and do {6213} <8804> that which is lawful {4941} and right; {6666}

33:15 [If] the wicked {7563} restore {7725} <8686> the pledge, {2258} give again {7999} <8762> that he had robbed, {1500} walk {1980} <8804> in the statutes {2708} of life, {2416} without (1115) committing {6213} <8800> iniquity; {5766} he shall surely [2421] <8800> live, {2421} <8799> he shall not (3808) die. {4191} <8799>

33:16 None (3808) (3605) of his sins {2403} that (834) he hath committed {2398} <8804> shall be mentioned {2142} <8735> unto him: he hath done {6213} <8804> that which is lawful {4941} and right; {6666} he shall surely [2421] <8800> live. {2421} <8799>

33:17 ¶ Yet the children {1121} of thy people {5971} say, {559} <8804> The way {1870} of the Lord {136} is not equal: {8505} <8735> (3808) but as for them, (1992) their way {1870} is not equal. {8505} <8735> (3808)

33:18 When the righteous {6662} turneth {7725} <8800> from his righteousness, {6666} (4480) and committeth {6213} <8804> iniquity, {5766} he shall even die {4191} <8804> thereby.

33:19 But if the wicked {7563} turn {7725} <8800> from his wickedness, {7564} (4480) and do {6213} <8804> that which is lawful {4941} and right, {6666} he (1931) shall live {2421} <8799> thereby. (5921)

33:20 ¶ Yet ye say, {559} <8804> The way {1870} of the Lord {136} is not equal. {8505} <8735> (3808) O ye house {1004} of Israel, {3478} I will judge {8199} <8799> you every one {376} after his ways. {1870}

33:21 ¶ And it came to pass (1961) in the twelfth {8147} {6240} year {8141} of our captivity, {1546} in the tenth {6224} [month], in the fifth {2568} [day] of the month, {2320} [that] one that had escaped {6412} out of Jerusalem {3389} (4480) came {935} <8804> unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800> The city {5892} is smitten. {5221} <8717>

33:22 Now the hand {3027} of the LORD {3068} was (1961) upon (413) me in the evening, {6153} afore {6440} he that was escaped {6412} came; {935} <8800> and had opened {6605} <8799> (853) my mouth, {6310} until (5704) he came {935} <8800> to (413) me in the morning; {1242} and my mouth {6310} was opened, {6605} <8735> and I was no more dumb. {481} <8738> (3808) (5750)

33:23 Then the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

33:24 Son {1121} of man, {120} they that inhabit {3427} <8802> those (428) wastes {2723} of (5921) the land {127} of Israel {3478} speak, {559} <8802> saying, {559} <8800> Abraham {85} was (1961) one, {259} and he inherited {3423} <8799> (853) the land: {776} but we (587) [are] many; {7227} the land {776} is given {5414} <8738> us for inheritance. {4181}

33:25 Wherefore (3651) say {559} <8798> unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Ye eat {398} <8799> with (5921) the blood, {1818} and lift up {5375} <8799> your eyes {5869} toward (413) your idols, {1544} and shed {8210} <8799> blood: {1818} and shall ye possess {3423} <8799> the land? {776}

33:26 Ye stand {5975} <8804> upon (5921) your sword, {2719} ye work {6213} <8804> abomination, {8441} and ye defile {2930} <8765> every one {376} (853) his neighbour's {7453} wife: {802} and shall ye possess {3423} <8799> the land? {776}

33:27 Say {559} <8799> thou thus (3541) unto (413) them, Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} [As] I (589) live, {2416} surely (518) (3808) they that (834) [are] in the wastes {2723} shall fall {5307} <8799> by the sword, {2719} and him that (834) [is] in (5921) the open {6440} field {7704} will I give {5414} <8804> to the beasts {2416} to be devoured, {398} <8800> and they that (834) [be] in the forts {4679} and in the caves {4631} shall die {4191} <8799> of the pestilence. {1698}

33:28 For I will lay {5414} <8804> (853) the land {776} most [4923] desolate, {8077} (4923) and the pomp {1347} of her strength {5797} shall cease; {7673} <8738> and the mountains {2022} of Israel {3478} shall be desolate, {8074} <8804> that none (4480) (369) shall pass through. {5674} <8802>

33:29 Then shall they know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} when I have laid {5414} <8800> (853) the land {776} most [4923] desolate {8077} (4923) because of (5921) all (3605) their abominations {8441} which (834) they have committed. {6213} <8804>

33:30 ¶ Also, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} the children {1121} of thy people {5971} still are talking {1696} <8737> against [681] thee by (681) the walls {7023} and in the doors {6607} of the houses, {1004} and speak {1696} <8765> one {2297} to (854) another, {259} every one {376} to (854) his brother, {251} saying, {559} <8800> Come, {935} <8798> I pray you, (4994) and hear {8085} <8798> what (4100) is the word {1697} that cometh forth {3318} <8802> from (4480) (854) the LORD. {3068}

33:31 And they come {935} <8799> unto (413) thee as the people {5971} cometh, {3996} and they sit {3427} <8799> before {6440} thee [as] my people, {5971} and they hear {8085} <8804> (853) thy words, {1697} but they will not (3808) do {6213} <8799> them: for (3588) with their mouth {6310} they (1992) shew {6213} <8802> much love, {5690} [but] their heart {3820} goeth {1980} <8802> after {310} their covetousness. {1215}

33:32 And, lo, (2009) thou [art] unto them as a very lovely {5690} song {7892} of one that hath a pleasant {3303} voice, {6963} and can play well [2895] <8688> on an instrument: {5059} <8763> (3190) for they hear {8085} <8804> (853) thy words, {1697} but they do {6213} <8802> them not. (369)

33:33 And when this cometh to pass, {935} <8800> (lo, (2009) it will come,) {935} <8802> then shall they know {3045} <8804> that (3588) a prophet {5030} hath been (1961) among {8432} them.
