Ezekiel

Chapter 36

1  The land of Israel is comforted, both by destruction of the heathen, who spitefully used it,  8  and by the blessings of God promised unto it.  16  Israel was rejected for their sin,  21  and shall be restored without their desert.  25  The blessings of Christ's Kingdom.

36:1 ¶ Also, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} prophesy {5012} <8734> unto (413) the mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} and say, {559} <8804> Ye mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} hear {8085} <8798> the word {1697} of the LORD: {3068}

36:2 Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because (3282) the enemy {341} <8802> hath said {559} <8804> against (5921) you, Aha, {1889} even the ancient {5769} high places {1116} are (1961) ours in possession: {4181}

36:3 Therefore (3651) prophesy {5012} <8734> and say, {559} <8804> Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because {3282} they have made [you] desolate, {8074} <8800> and swallowed you up {7602} <8800> (853) on every side, {5439} (4480) that ye might be (1961) a possession {4181} unto the residue {7611} of the heathen, {1471} and ye are taken up {5927} <8735> in (5921) the lips {8193} of talkers, {3956} and [are] an infamy {1681} of the people: {5971}

36:4 Therefore, (3651) ye mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} hear {8085} <8798> the word {1697} of the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD {3069} to the mountains, {2022} and to the hills, {1389} to the rivers, {650} and to the valleys, {1516} to the desolate {8074} <8802> wastes, {2723} and to the cities {5892} that are forsaken, {5800} <8737> which (834) became (1961) a prey {957} and derision {3933} to the residue {7611} of the heathen {1471} that (834) [are] round about; {5439} (4480)

36:5 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Surely (518) (3808) in the fire {784} of my jealousy {7068} have I spoken {1696} <8765> against (5921) the residue {7611} of the heathen, {1471} and against (5921) all (3605) Idumea, {123} which (834) have appointed {5414} <8804> (853) my land {776} into their possession {4181} with the joy {8057} of all (3605) [their] heart, {3824} with despiteful {7589} minds, {5315} to (4616) cast it out [4054] (1644) for a prey. {957}

36:6 Prophesy {5012} <8734> therefore (3651) concerning (5921) the land {127} of Israel, {3478} and say {559} <8804> unto the mountains, {2022} and to the hills, {1389} to the rivers, {650} and to the valleys, {1516} Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I have spoken {1696} <8765> in my jealousy {7068} and in my fury, {2534} because (3282) ye have borne {5375} <8804> the shame {3639} of the heathen: {1471}

36:7 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} I (589) have lifted up {5375} <8804> (853) mine hand, {3027} Surely (518) (3808) the heathen {1471} that (834) [are] about {5439} (4480) you, they (1992) shall bear {5375} <8799> their shame. {3639}

36:8 ¶ But ye, (859) O mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} ye shall shoot forth {5414} <8799> your branches, {6057} and yield {5375} <8799> your fruit {6529} to my people {5971} of Israel; {3478} for (3588) they are at hand {7126} <8765> to come. {935} <8800>

36:9 For, (3588) behold, (2009) I [am] for (413) you, and I will turn {6437} <8804> unto (413) you, and ye shall be tilled {5647} <8738> and sown: {2232} <8738>

36:10 And I will multiply {7235} <8689> men {120} upon (5921) you, all (3605) the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} [even] all (3605) of it: and the cities {5892} shall be inhabited, {3427} <8738> and the wastes {2723} shall be builded: {1129} <8735>

36:11 And I will multiply {7235} <8689> upon (5921) you man {120} and beast; {929} and they shall increase {7235} <8804> and bring fruit: {6509} <8804> and I will settle {3427} <8689> you after your old estates, {6927} and will do better [2895] <8689> (3190) [unto you] than at your beginnings: {7221} (4480) and ye shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

36:12 Yea, I will cause men {120} to walk [3212] <8689> (1980) upon (5921) you, [even] (853) my people {5971} Israel; {3478} and they shall possess {3423} <8804> thee, and thou shalt be (1961) their inheritance, {5159} and thou shalt no (3808) more {3254} <8686> henceforth (5750) bereave {7921} <8763> them [of men].

36:13 Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because (3282) they say {559} <8802> unto you, Thou (859) [land] devourest up {398} <8802> men, {120} and hast bereaved {7921} <8764> (1961) thy nations; {1471}

36:14 Therefore (3651) thou shalt devour {398} <8799> men {120} no (3808) more, (5750) neither (3808) bereave {7921} <8762> [3782] thy nations {1471} any more, (5750) saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

36:15 Neither (3808) will I cause [men] to hear {8085} <8686> in (413) thee the shame {3639} of the heathen {1471} any more, (5750) neither (3808) shalt thou bear {5375} <8799> the reproach {2781} of the people {5971} any more, (5750) neither (3808) shalt thou cause thy nations {1471} to fall {3782} <8686> any more, (5750) saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

36:16 ¶ Moreover the word {1697} of the LORD {3068} came (1961) unto (413) me, saying, {559} <8800>

36:17 Son {1121} of man, {120} when the house {1004} of Israel {3478} dwelt {3427} <8802> in (5921) their own land, {127} they defiled {2930} <8762> it by their own way {1870} and by their doings: {5949} their way {1870} was (1961) before {6440} me as the uncleanness {2932} of a removed woman. {5079}

36:18 Wherefore I poured {8210} <8799> my fury {2534} upon (5921) them for (5921) the blood {1818} that (834) they had shed {8210} <8804> upon (5921) the land, {776} and for their idols {1544} [wherewith] they had polluted {2930} <8765> it:

36:19 And I scattered {6327} <8686> them among the heathen, {1471} and they were dispersed {2219} <8735> through the countries: {776} according to their way {1870} and according to their doings {5949} I judged {8199} <8804> them.

36:20 And when they entered {935} <8799> unto (413) the heathen, {1471} whither (834) (8033) they went, {935} <8804> they profaned {2490} <8762> (853) my holy {6944} name, {8034} when they said {559} <8800> to them, These (428) [are] the people {5971} of the LORD, {3068} and are gone forth {3318} <8804> out of his land. {776} (4480)

36:21 ¶ But I had pity {2550} <8799> for (5921) mine holy {6944} name, {8034} which (834) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} had profaned {2490} <8765> among the heathen, {1471} whither (834) (8033) they went. {935} <8804>

36:22 Therefore (3651) say {559} <8798> unto the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} I (589) do {6213} <8802> not (3808) [this] for your sakes, (4616) O house {1004} of Israel, {3478} but (3588) (518) for mine holy {6944} name's {8034} sake, which (834) ye have profaned {2490} <8765> among the heathen, {1471} whither (834) (8033) ye went. {935} <8804>

36:23 And I will sanctify {6942} <8765> (853) my great {1419} name, {8034} which was profaned {2490} <8794> among the heathen, {1471} which (834) ye have profaned {2490} <8765> in the midst {8432} of them; and the heathen {1471} shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} when I shall be sanctified {6942} <8736> in you before their eyes. {5869}

36:24 For I will take {3947} <8804> you from among {4480} the heathen, {1471} and gather {6908} <8765> you out of all (4480) (3605) countries, {776} and will bring {935} <8689> you into (413) your own land. {127}

36:25 ¶ Then will I sprinkle {2236} <8804> clean {2889} water {4325} upon (5921) you, and ye shall be clean: {2891} <8804> from all (4480) (3605) your filthiness, {2932} and from all (4480) (3605) your idols, {1544} will I cleanse {2891} <8762> you.

36:26 A new {2319} heart {3820} also will I give {5414} <8804> you, and a new {2319} spirit {7307} will I put {5414} <8799> within {7130} you: and I will take away {5493} <8689> (853) the stony {68} heart {3820} out of your flesh, {1320} (4480) and I will give {5414} <8804> you an heart {3820} of flesh. {1320}

36:27 And I will put {5414} <8799> my spirit {7307} within {7130} you, and cause {6213} <8804> you to walk [3212] <8799> (1980) in (854) my statutes, {2706} and ye shall keep {8104} <8799> my judgments, {4941} and do {6213} <8804> [them].

36:28 And ye shall dwell {3427} <8804> in the land {776} that (834) I gave {5414} <8804> to your fathers; {1} and ye shall be (1961) my people, {5971} and I (595) will be (1961) your God. {430}

36:29 I will also save {3467} <8689> you from all (4480) (3605) your uncleannesses: {2932} and I will call {7121} <8804> for (413) the corn, {1715} and will increase {7235} <8689> it, and lay {5414} <8799> no (3808) famine {7458} upon (5921) you.

36:30 And I will multiply {7235} <8689> (853) the fruit {6529} of the tree, {6086} and the increase {8570} of the field, {7704} that (4616) (834) ye shall receive {3947} <8799> no (3808) more (5750) reproach {2781} of famine {7458} among the heathen. {1471}

36:31 Then shall ye remember {2142} <8804> (853) your own evil {7451} ways, {1870} and your doings {4611} that (834) [were] not (3808) good, {2896} and shall lothe [6962] <8738> yourselves (6962) in your own sight {6440} for (5921) your iniquities {5771} and for (5921) your abominations. {8441}

36:32 Not (3808) for your sakes (4616) do {6213} <8802> I (589) [this], saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD, {3069} be it known {3045} <8735> unto you: be ashamed {954} <8798> and confounded {3637} <8734> for your own ways, {1870} (4480) O house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

36:33 Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} In the day {3117} that I shall have cleansed {2891} <8763> you from all (4480) (3605) your iniquities {5771} I will also cause [you] to dwell {3427} <8689> (853) in the cities, {5892} and the wastes {2723} shall be builded. {1129} <8738>

36:34 And the desolate {8074} <8737> land {776} shall be tilled, {5647} <8735> whereas (8478) (834) it lay (1961) desolate {8077} in the sight {5869} of all (3605) that passed by. {5674} <8802>

36:35 And they shall say, {559} <8804> This {1977} land {776} that was desolate {8074} <8737> is become (1961) like the garden {1588} of Eden; {5731} and the waste {2720} and desolate {8074} <8737> and ruined {2040} <8737> cities {5892} [are become] fenced, {1219} <8803> [and] are inhabited. {3427} <8804>

36:36 Then the heathen {1471} that (834) are left {7604} <8735> round about {5439} you shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) the LORD {3068} build {1129} <8804> the ruined {2040} <8737> [places, and] plant {5193} <8804> that that was desolate: {8074} <8737> I (589) the LORD {3068} have spoken {1696} <8765> [it], and I will do {6213} <8804> [it].

36:37 Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} I will yet (5750) [for] this (2063) be enquired [1875] <8735> of (1875) by the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} to do {6213} <8800> [it] for them; I will increase {7235} <8686> them with men {120} like a flock. {6629}

36:38 As the holy {6944} flock, {6629} as the flock {6629} of Jerusalem {3389} in her solemn feasts; {4150} so (3651) shall the waste {2720} cities {5892} be (1961) filled {4392} with flocks {6629} of men: {120} and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}
