Chapter 39

1  God's judgment upon Gog.  8  Israel's victory.  11  Gog's burial in Hamon-gog.  17  The feast of the fowls.  23  Israel, having been plagued for their sins, shall be gathered again with eternal favour.

39:1 ¶ Therefore, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} prophesy {5012} <8734> against (5921) Gog, {1463} and say, {559} <8804> Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I [am] against (413) thee, O Gog, {1463} the chief {7218} prince {5387} of Meshech {4902} and Tubal: {8422}

39:2 And I will turn thee back, {7725} <8790> and leave but the sixth part {8338} <8765> of thee, and will cause thee to come up {5927} <8689> from the north {6828} parts, {3411} (4480) and will bring {935} <8689> thee upon (5921) the mountains {2022} of Israel: {3478}

39:3 And I will smite {5221} <8689> thy bow {7198} out of thy left {8040} hand, {3027} (4480) and will cause thine arrows {2671} to fall {5307} <8686> out of thy right {3225} hand. {3027} (4480)

39:4 Thou shalt fall {5307} <8799> upon (5921) the mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} thou, (859) and all (3605) thy bands, {102} and the people {5971} that (834) [is] with (854) thee: I will give {5414} <8804> thee unto the ravenous {5861} birds {6833} of every (3605) sort, {3671} and [to] the beasts {2416} of the field {7704} to be devoured. {402}

39:5 Thou shalt fall {5307} <8799> upon (5921) the open {6440} field: {7704} for (3588) I (589) have spoken {1696} <8765> [it], saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

39:6 And I will send {7971} <8765> a fire {784} on Magog, {4031} and among them that dwell {3427} <8802> carelessly {983} in the isles: {339} and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD. {3068}

39:7 So will I make (3045) my holy {6944} name {8034} known {3045} <8686> in the midst {8432} of my people {5971} Israel; {3478} and I will not (3808) [let them] pollute {2490} <8686> (853) my holy {6944} name {8034} any more: (5750) and the heathen {1471} shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD, {3068} the Holy One {6918} in Israel. {3478}

39:8 ¶ Behold, (2009) it is come, {935} <8804> and it is done, {1961} <8738> saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} this (1931) [is] the day {3117} whereof (834) I have spoken. {1696} <8765>

39:9 And they that dwell {3427} <8802> in the cities {5892} of Israel {3478} shall go forth, {3318} <8804> and shall set [1197] <8765> on fire [784] (1197) and burn {5400} <8689> the weapons, {5402} both the shields {4043} and the bucklers, {6793} the bows {7198} and the arrows, {2671} and the handstaves, {3027} {4731} and the spears, {7420} and they shall burn {1197} <8765> them with fire {784} seven {7651} years: {8141}

39:10 So that they shall take {5375} <8799> no (3808) wood {6086} out of (4480) the field, {7704} neither (3808) cut down {2404} <8799> [any] out of (4480) the forests; {3293} for (3588) they shall burn {1197} <8762> the weapons {5402} with fire: {784} and they shall spoil {7997} <8804> (853) those that spoiled {7997} <8802> them, and rob {962} <8804> (853) those that robbed {962} <8802> them, saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

39:11 ¶ And it shall come to pass (1961) in that (1931) day, {3117} [that] I will give {5414} <8799> unto Gog {1463} a place {4725} there (8033) of graves {6913} in Israel, {3478} the valley {1516} of the passengers {5674} <8802> on the east {6926} of the sea: {3220} and it (1931) shall stop {2629} <8802> (853) the [noses] of the passengers: {5674} <8802> and there (8033) shall they bury {6912} <8804> (853) Gog {1463} and all (3605) his multitude: {1995} and they shall call {7121} <8804> [it] The valley {1516} of Hamongog. {1996}

39:12 And seven {7651} months {2320} shall the house {1004} of Israel {3478} be burying {6912} <8804> of them, that (4616) they may cleanse {2891} <8763> (853) the land. {776}

39:13 Yea, all (3605) the people {5971} of the land {776} shall bury {6912} <8804> [them]; and it shall be (1961) to them a renown {8034} the day {3117} that I shall be glorified, {3513} <8736> saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

39:14 And they shall sever out {914} <8686> men [582] (376) of continual employment, {8548} passing (5674) through [5674] <8802> the land {776} to bury {6912} <8764> (853) with the passengers {5674} <8802> (853) those that remain {3498} <8737> upon (5921) the face {6440} of the earth, {776} to cleanse {2891} <8763> it: after the end {7097} (4480) of seven {7651} months {2320} shall they search. {2713} <8799>

39:15 And the passengers {5674} <8802> [that] pass through {5674} <8804> the land, {776} when [any] seeth {7200} <8804> a man's {120} bone, {6106} then shall he set up {1129} <8804> a sign {6725} by {681} it, till (5704) the buriers {6912} <8764> have buried {6912} <8804> it in (413) the valley {1516} of Hamongog. {1996}

39:16 And also (1571) the name {8034} of the city {5892} [shall be] Hamonah. {1997} Thus shall they cleanse {2891} <8765> the land. {776}

39:17 ¶ And, thou (859) son {1121} of man, {120} thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Speak {559} <8798> unto every (3605) feathered {3671} fowl, {6833} and to every (3605) beast {2416} of the field, {7704} Assemble [6908] <8734> yourselves, (6908) and come; {935} <8798> gather [622] <8734> yourselves (622) on every side {5439} (4480) to (5921) my sacrifice {2077} that (834) I (589) do sacrifice {2076} <8802> for you, [even] a great {1419} sacrifice {2077} upon (5921) the mountains {2022} of Israel, {3478} that ye may eat {398} <8804> flesh, {1320} and drink {8354} <8804> blood. {1818}

39:18 Ye shall eat {398} <8799> the flesh {1320} of the mighty, {1368} and drink {8354} <8799> the blood {1818} of the princes {5387} of the earth, {776} of rams, {352} of lambs, {3733} and of goats, {6260} of bullocks, {6499} all (3605) of them fatlings {4806} of Bashan. {1316}

39:19 And ye shall eat {398} <8804> fat {2459} till ye be full, {7654} and drink {8354} <8804> blood {1818} till ye be drunken, {7943} of my sacrifice {2077} (4480) which (834) I have sacrificed {2076} <8804> for you.

39:20 Thus ye shall be filled {7646} <8804> at (5921) my table {7979} with horses {5483} and chariots, {7393} with mighty men, {1368} and with all (3605) men {376} of war, {4421} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}

39:21 And I will set {5414} <8804> (853) my glory {3519} among the heathen, {1471} and all (3605) the heathen {1471} shall see {7200} <8804> (853) my judgment {4941} that (834) I have executed, {6213} <8804> and my hand {3027} that (834) I have laid {7760} <8804> upon them.

39:22 So the house {1004} of Israel {3478} shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD {3068} their God {430} from (4480) that (1931) day {3117} and forward. {1973}

39:23 ¶ And the heathen {1471} shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) the house {1004} of Israel {3478} went into captivity {1540} <8804> for their iniquity: {5771} because (5921) (834) they trespassed {4603} <8804> against me, therefore hid {5641} <8686> I my face {6440} from (4480) them, and gave {5414} <8799> them into the hand {3027} of their enemies: {6862} so fell {5307} <8799> they all (3605) by the sword. {2719}

39:24 According to their uncleanness {2932} and according to their transgressions {6588} have I done {6213} <8804> unto them, and hid {5641} <8686> my face {6440} from (4480) them.

39:25 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Now (6258) will I bring again {7725} <8686> (853) the captivity {7622} k8675- of Jacob, {3290} and have mercy {7355} <8765> upon the whole (3605) house {1004} of Israel, {3478} and will be jealous {7065} <8765> for my holy {6944} name; {8034}

39:26 After that they have borne {5375} <8804> (853) their shame, {3639} and all (3605) their trespasses {4604} whereby (834) they have trespassed {4603} <8804> against me, when they dwelt {3427} <8800> safely {983} in (5921) their land, {127} and none (369) made [them] afraid. {2729} <8688>

39:27 When I have brought them again {7725} <8788> (853) from (4480) the people, {5971} and gathered {6908} <8765> them out of their enemies' {341} <8802> lands, {776} (4480) and am sanctified {6942} <8738> in them in the sight {5869} of many {7227} nations; {1471}

39:28 Then shall they know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) [am] the LORD {3068} their God, {430} which caused them to be led into captivity {1540} <8687> among (413) the heathen: {1471} but I have gathered {3664} <8765> them unto (5921) their own land, {127} and have left {3498} <8686> none (3808) of (4480) them any more (5750) there. (8033)

39:29 Neither (3808) will I hide {5641} <8686> my face {6440} any more (5750) from (4480) them: for (834) I have poured out {8210} <8804> (853) my spirit {7307} upon (5921) the house {1004} of Israel, {3478} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD. {3069}
