Ezekiel

Chapter 5

1  Under the type of hair,  5  is shewed the judgment of Jerusalem for their rebellion,  12  by famine, sword, and dispersion.

5:1 ¶ And thou, (859) son {1121} of man, {120} take {3947} <8798> thee a sharp {2299} knife, {2719} take {3947} <8799> thee a barber's {1532} razor, {8593} and cause [it] to pass {5674} <8689> upon (5921) thine head {7218} and upon (5921) thy beard: {2206} then take {3947} <8804> thee balances {3976} to weigh, {4948} and divide {2505} <8765> the [hair].

5:2 Thou shalt burn {1197} <8686> with fire {217} a third part {7992} in the midst {8432} of the city, {5892} when the days {3117} of the siege {4692} are fulfilled: {4390} <8800> and thou shalt take {3947} <8804> (853) a third part, {7992} [and] smite {5221} <8686> about {5439} it with a knife: {2719} and a third part {7992} thou shalt scatter {2219} <8799> in the wind; {7307} and I will draw out {7324} <8686> a sword {2719} after {310} them.

5:3 Thou shalt also take {3947} <8804> thereof (4480) (8033) a few {4592} in number, {4557} and bind {6696} <8804> them in thy skirts. {3671}

5:4 Then take (3947) of (4480) them again, [3947] <8799> (5750) and cast {7993} <8689> them into (413) the midst {8432} of the fire, {784} and burn {8313} <8804> them in the fire; {784} [for] thereof (4480) shall a fire {784} come forth {3318} <8799> into (413) all (3605) the house {1004} of Israel. {3478}

5:5 ¶ Thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} This (2063) [is] Jerusalem: {3389} I have set {7760} <8804> it in the midst {8432} of the nations {1471} and countries {776} [that are] round about {5439} her.

5:6 And she hath changed {4784} <8686> (853) my judgments {4941} into wickedness {7564} more than (4480) the nations, {1471} and my statutes {2708} more than (4480) the countries {776} that (834) [are] round about {5439} her: for (3588) they have refused {3988} <8804> my judgments {4941} and my statutes, {2708} they have not (3808) walked {1980} <8804> in them.

5:7 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Because (3282) ye multiplied {1995} <8800> more than (4480) the nations {1471} that (834) [are] round about {5439} you, [and] have not (3808) walked {1980} <8804> in my statutes, {2708} neither (3808) have kept {6213} <8804> my judgments, {4941} neither (3808) have done {6213} <8804> according to the judgments {4941} of the nations {1471} that (834) [are] round about {5439} you;

5:8 Therefore (3651) thus (3541) saith {559} <8804> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Behold, (2009) I, even (1571) I, (589) [am] against (5921) thee, and will execute {6213} <8804> judgments {4941} in the midst {8432} of thee in the sight {5869} of the nations. {1471}

5:9 And I will do {6213} <8804> in thee (853) that which (834) I have not (3808) done, {6213} <8804> and whereunto (834) I will not (3808) do {6213} <8799> any more (5750) the like, (3644) because [3282] of (3282) all (3605) thine abominations. {8441}

5:10 Therefore (3651) the fathers {1} shall eat {398} <8799> the sons {1121} in the midst {8432} of thee, and the sons {1121} shall eat {398} <8799> their fathers; {1} and I will execute {6213} <8804> judgments {8201} in thee, and (853) the whole (3605) remnant {7611} of thee will I scatter {2219} <8765> into all (3605) the winds. {7307}

5:11 Wherefore, (3651) [as] I (589) live, {2416} saith {5002} <8803> the Lord {136} GOD; {3069} Surely, (518) (3808) because (3282) thou hast defiled {2930} <8765> (853) my sanctuary {4720} with all (3605) thy detestable things, {8251} and with all (3605) thine abominations, {8441} therefore (1571) will I (589) also diminish {1639} <8799> [thee]; neither (3808) shall mine eye {5869} spare, {2347} <8799> neither (3808) will I (589) have any pity. {2550} <8799>

5:12 ¶ A third part {7992} of thee shall die {4191} <8799> with the pestilence, {1698} and with famine {7458} shall they be consumed {3615} <8799> in the midst {8432} of thee: and a third part {7992} shall fall {5307} <8799> by the sword {2719} round about {5439} thee; and I will scatter {2219} <8762> a third part {7992} into all (3605) the winds, {7307} and I will draw out {7324} <8686> a sword {2719} after {310} them.

5:13 Thus shall mine anger {639} be accomplished, {3615} <8804> and I will cause my fury {2534} to rest {5117} <8689> upon them, and I will be comforted: {5162} <8694> and they shall know {3045} <8804> that (3588) I (589) the LORD {3068} have spoken {1696} <8765> [it] in my zeal, {7068} when I have accomplished {3615} <8763> my fury {2534} in them.

5:14 Moreover I will make {5414} <8799> thee waste, {2723} and a reproach {2781} among the nations {1471} that (834) [are] round about {5439} thee, in the sight {5869} of all (3605) that pass by. {5674} <8802>

5:15 So it shall be (1961) a reproach {2781} and a taunt, {1422} an instruction {4148} and an astonishment {4923} unto the nations {1471} that (834) [are] round about {5439} thee, when I shall execute {6213} <8800> judgments {8201} in thee in anger {639} and in fury {2534} and in furious {2534} rebukes. {8433} I (589) the LORD {3068} have spoken {1696} <8765> [it].

5:16 When I shall send {7971} <8762> upon them the (853) evil {7451} arrows {2671} of famine, {7458} which (834) shall be (1961) for [their] destruction, {4889} [and] which (834) I will send {7971} <8763> (853) to destroy {7843} <8763> you: and I will increase {3254} <8686> the famine {7458} upon (5921) you, and will break {7665} <8804> your staff {4294} of bread: {3899}

5:17 So will I send {7971} <8765> upon (5921) you famine {7458} and evil {7451} beasts, {2416} and they shall bereave {7921} <8765> thee; and pestilence {1698} and blood {1818} shall pass (5674) through [5674] <8799> thee; and I will bring {935} <8686> the sword {2719} upon (5921) thee. I (589) the LORD {3068} have spoken {1696} <8765> [it].
