Ezekiel

Chapter 9

1  A vision, whereby is shewed the preservation of some,  5  and the destruction of the rest.  8  God cannot be intreated for them.

9:1 ¶ He cried {7121} <8799> also in mine ears {241} with a loud {1419} voice, {6963} saying, {559} <8800> Cause them that have charge {6486} over the city {5892} to draw near, {7126} <8804> even every man {376} [with] his destroying {4892} weapon {3627} in his hand. {3027}

9:2 And, behold, (2009) six {8337} men [582] (376) came {935} <8802> from the way {1870} (4480) of the higher {5945} gate, {8179} which (834) lieth {6437} <8716> toward the north, {6828} and every man {376} a slaughter {4660} weapon {3627} in his hand; {3027} and one {259} man {376} among {8432} them [was] clothed {3847} <8803> with linen, {906} with a writer's {5608} <8802> inkhorn {7083} by his side: {4975} and they went in, {935} <8799> and stood {5975} <8799> beside {681} the brasen {5178} altar. {4196}

9:3 And the glory {3519} of the God {430} of Israel {3478} was gone up {5927} <8738> from (4480) (5921) the cherub, {3742} whereupon (834) (5921) he was, (1961) to (413) the threshold {4670} of the house. {1004} And he called {7121} <8799> to (413) the man {376} clothed {3847} <8803> with linen, {906} which (834) [had] the writer's {5608} <8802> inkhorn {7083} by his side; {4975}

9:4 And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) him, Go through {5674} <8798> the midst {8432} of the city, {5892} through the midst {8432} of Jerusalem, {3389} and set {8427} <8689> a mark {8420} upon (5921) the foreheads {4696} of the men [582] (376) that sigh {584} <8737> and that cry {602} <8737> for (5921) all (3605) the abominations {8441} that be done {6213} <8737> in the midst {8432} thereof.

9:5 ¶ And to the others {428} he said {559} <8804> in mine hearing, {241} Go {5674} <8798> ye after {310} him through the city, {5892} and smite: {5221} <8685> let not (408) your eye {5869} spare, {2347} <8799> neither (408) have ye pity: {2550} <8799>

9:6 Slay {2026} <8799> utterly {4889} old {2205} [and] young, {970} both maids, {1330} and little children, {2945} and women: {802} but come not near {5066} <8799> (408) (5921) any (3605) man {376} upon (5921) whom (834) [is] the mark; {8420} and begin {2490} <8686> at my sanctuary. {4720} (4480) Then they began {2490} <8686> at the ancient {2205} men [582] (376) which (834) [were] before {6440} the house. {1004}

9:7 And he said {559} <8799> unto (413) them, Defile {2930} <8761> (853) the house, {1004} and fill {4390} <8761> (853) the courts {2691} with the slain: {2491} go ye forth. {3318} <8798> And they went forth, {3318} <8804> and slew {5221} <8689> in the city. {5892}

9:8 ¶ And it came to pass, (1961) while they were slaying {5221} <8687> them, and I (589) was left, {7604} <8737> that I fell {5307} <8799> upon (5921) my face, {6440} and cried, {2199} <8799> and said, {559} <8799> Ah {162} Lord {136} GOD! {3069} wilt thou (859) destroy {7843} <8688> (853) all (3605) the residue {7611} of Israel {3478} in thy pouring out {8210} <8800> (853) of thy fury {2534} upon (5921) Jerusalem? {3389}

9:9 Then said {559} <8799> he unto (413) me, The iniquity {5771} of the house {1004} of Israel {3478} and Judah {3063} [is] exceeding {3966} great, {1419} and the land {776} is full {4390} <8735> of blood, {1818} and the city {5892} full {4390} <8804> of perverseness: {4297} for (3588) they say, {559} <8804> The LORD {3068} hath forsaken {5800} <8804> (853) the earth, {776} and the LORD {3068} seeth {7200} <8802> not. (369)

9:10 And as for me (589) also, (1571) mine eye {5869} shall not (3808) spare, {2347} <8799> neither (3808) will I have pity, {2550} <8799> [but] I will recompense {5414} <8804> their way {1870} upon their head. {7218}

9:11 And, behold, (2009) the man {376} clothed {3847} <8803> with linen, {906} which (834) [had] the inkhorn {7083} by his side, {4975} reported {7725} <8688> the matter, {1697} saying, {559} <8800> I have done {6213} <8804> as (3605) (834) thou hast commanded {6680} <8765> me.
