Chapter 13

1  Abram and Lot return out of Egypt.  7  By disagreement they part asunder.  10  Lot goeth to wicked Sodom.  14  God reneweth the promise to Abram.  18  He reneweth the promise to Abram.  18  He removeth to Hebron, and there buildeth an altar.

13:1 ¶ And Abram {87} went up {5927} <8799> out of Egypt, {4714} (4480) he, (1931) and his wife, {802} and all (3605) that (834) he had, and Lot {3876} with (5973) him, into the south. {5045}

13:2 And Abram {87} [was] very {3966} rich [3513] <8804> (3515) in cattle, {4735} in silver, {3701} and in gold. {2091}

13:3 And he went [3212] <8799> (1980) on his journeys {4550} from the south {5045} (4480) even to (5704) Bethel, {1008} unto (5704) the place {4725} where (834) (8033) his tent {168} had been {1961} <8804> at the beginning, {8462} between (996) Bethel {1008} and Hai; {5857}

13:4 Unto (413) the place {4725} of the altar, {4196} which (834) he had made {6213} <8804> there (8033) at the first: {7223} and there (8033) Abram {87} called {7121} <8799> on the name {8034} of the LORD. {3068}

13:5 ¶ And Lot {3876} also, (1571) which went {1980} <8802> with {854} Abram, {87} had (1961) flocks, {6629} and herds, {1241} and tents. {168}

13:6 And the land {776} was not (3808) able to bear {5375} <8804> them, that they might dwell {3427} <8800> together: {3162} for (3588) their substance {7399} was (1961) great, {7227} so that they could {3201} <8804> not (3808) dwell {3427} <8800> together. {3162}

13:7 And there was (1961) a strife {7379} between (996) the herdmen {7462} <8802> of Abram's {87} cattle {4735} and the herdmen {7462} <8802> of Lot's {3876} cattle: {4735} and the Canaanite {3669} and the Perizzite {6522} dwelled {3427} <8802> then (227) in the land. {776}

13:8 And Abram {87} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Lot, {3876} Let there be {1961} <8799> no {408} strife, {4808} I pray thee, (4994) between (996) me and thee, and between (996) my herdmen {7462} <8802> and thy herdmen; {7462} <8802> for (3588) we [582] (587) [be] brethren. {251}

13:9 [Is] not (3808) the whole (3605) land {776} before (6440) thee? [6440] separate thyself, {6504} <8734> I pray thee, (4994) from (4480) (5921) me: if (518) [thou wilt take] the left hand, {8040} then I will go to the right; {3231} <8686> or if (518) [thou depart] to the right hand, {3225} then I will go to the left. {8041} <8686>

13:10 And Lot {3876} lifted up {5375} <8799> (853) his eyes, {5869} and beheld {7200} <8799> (853) all (3605) the plain {3603} of Jordan, {3383} that (3588) it [was] well watered {4945} every where, (3605) before {6440} the LORD {3068} destroyed {7843} <8763> (853) Sodom {5467} and Gomorrah, {6017} [even] as the garden {1588} of the LORD, {3068} like the land {776} of Egypt, {4714} as thou comest {935} <8800> unto Zoar. {6820}

13:11 Then Lot {3876} chose {977} <8799> him (853) all (3605) the plain {3603} of Jordan; {3383} and Lot {3876} journeyed {5265} <8799> east: {6924} (4480) and they separated themselves {6504} <8735> the one {376} from (4480) (5921) the other. {251}

13:12 Abram {87} dwelled {3427} <8804> in the land {776} of Canaan, {3667} and Lot {3876} dwelled {3427} <8804> in the cities {5892} of the plain, {3603} and pitched [his] tent {167} <8799> toward {5704} Sodom. {5467}

13:13 But the men [582] (376) of Sodom {5467} [were] wicked {7451} and sinners {2400} before the LORD {3068} exceedingly. {3966}

13:14 ¶ And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8804> unto (413) Abram, {87} after [310] that (310) Lot {3876} was separated {6504} <8736> from (4480) (5973) him, Lift up {5375} <8798> now (4994) thine eyes, {5869} and look {7200} <8798> from (4480) the place {4725} where (834) (8033) thou (859) art northward, {6828} and southward, {5045} and eastward, {6924} and westward: {3220}

13:15 For (3588) (853) all (3605) the land {776} which (834) thou (859) seest, {7200} <8802> to thee will I give (5414) it, [5414] <8799> and to thy seed {2233} for [5704] ever. {5769} (5704)

13:16 And I will make {7760} <8804> (853) thy seed {2233} as the dust {6083} of the earth: {776} so that {834} if (518) a man {376} can {3201} <8799> number {4487} <8800> (853) the dust {6083} of the earth, {776} [then] shall thy seed {2233} also (1571) be numbered. {4487} <8735>

13:17 Arise, {6965} <8798> walk {1980} <8690> through the land {776} in the length {753} of it and in the breadth {7341} of it; for (3588) I will give {5414} <8799> it unto thee.

13:18 Then Abram {87} removed [his] tent, {167} <8799> and came {935} <8799> and dwelt {3427} <8799> in the plain {436} of Mamre, {4471} which (834) [is] in Hebron, {2275} and built {1129} <8799> there (8033) an altar {4196} unto the LORD. {3068}
