Chapter 50

1  The mourning for Jacob.  4  Joseph getteth leave of Pharaoh to go to bury him.  7  The funeral.  15  Joseph comforteth his brethren, who craved his pardon.  22  His age.  23  He seeth the third generation of his sons.  24  He prophesieth unto his brethren of their return.  25  He taketh an oath of them for his bones.  26  He dieth, and is chested.

50:1 ¶ And Joseph {3130} fell {5307} <8799> upon (5921) his father's {1} face, {6440} and wept {1058} <8799> upon (5921) him, and kissed {5401} <8799> him.

50:2 And Joseph {3130} commanded {6680} <8762> (853) his servants {5650} (853) the physicians {7495} <8802> to embalm {2590} <8800> (853) his father: {1} and the physicians {7495} <8802> embalmed {2590} <8799> (853) Israel. {3478}

50:3 And forty {705} days {3117} were fulfilled {4390} <8799> for him; for (3588) so (3651) are fulfilled {4390} <8799> the days {3117} of those which are embalmed: {2590} <8803> and the Egyptians {4714} mourned {1058} <8799> for him threescore and ten {7657} days. {3117}

50:4 And when the days {3117} of his mourning {1068} were past, {5674} <8799> Joseph {3130} spake {1696} <8762> unto (413) the house {1004} of Pharaoh, {6547} saying, {559} <8800> If (518) now (4994) I have found {4672} <8804> grace {2580} in your eyes, {5869} speak, {1696} <8761> I pray you, (4994) in the ears {241} of Pharaoh, {6547} saying, {559} <8800>

50:5 My father {1} made me swear, {7650} <8689> saying, {559} <8800> Lo, {2009} I (595) die: {4191} <8801> in my grave {6913} which (834) I have digged {3738} <8804> for me in the land {776} of Canaan, {3667} there (8033) shalt thou bury (6912) me. [6912] <8799> Now (6258) therefore let me go up, {5927} <8799> I pray thee, (4994) and bury {6912} <8799> (853) my father, {1} and I will come again. {7725} <8799>

50:6 And Pharaoh {6547} said, {559} <8799> Go up, {5927} <8798> and bury {6912} <8798> (853) thy father, {1} according as (834) he made thee swear. {7650} <8689>

50:7 ¶ And Joseph {3130} went up {5927} <8799> to bury {6912} <8800> (853) his father: {1} and with (854) him went up {5927} <8799> all (3605) the servants {5650} of Pharaoh, {6547} the elders {2205} of his house, {1004} and all (3605) the elders {2205} of the land {776} of Egypt, {4714}

50:8 And all (3605) the house {1004} of Joseph, {3130} and his brethren, {251} and his father's {1} house: {1004} only (7535) their little ones, {2945} and their flocks, {6629} and their herds, {1241} they left {5800} <8804> in the land {776} of Goshen. {1657}

50:9 And there went up {5927} <8799> with (5973) him both (1571) chariots {7393} and (1571) horsemen: {6571} and it was (1961) a very {3966} great {3515} company. {4264}

50:10 And they came {935} <8799> to (5704) the threshingfloor {1637} of Atad, {329} which (834) [is] beyond {5676} Jordan, {3383} and there (8033) they mourned {5594} <8799> with a great {1419} and very {3966} sore {3515} lamentation: {4553} and he made {6213} <8799> a mourning {60} for his father {1} seven {7651} days. {3117}

50:11 And when the inhabitants {3427} <8802> of the land, {776} the Canaanites, {3669} saw {7200} <8799> (853) the mourning {60} in the floor {1637} of Atad, {329} they said, {559} <8799> This (2088) [is] a grievous {3515} mourning {60} to the Egyptians: {4714} wherefore (5921) (3651) the name (8034) of it [8034] was called {7121} <8804> Abelmizraim, {67} which (834) [is] beyond {5676} Jordan. {3383}

50:12 And his sons {1121} did {6213} <8799> unto him according as (3651) (834) he commanded {6680} <8765> them:

50:13 For his sons {1121} carried {5375} <8799> him into the land {776} of Canaan, {3667} and buried {6912} <8799> him in the cave {4631} of the field {7704} of Machpelah, {4375} which (834) Abraham {85} bought {7069} <8804> with (854) the field {7704} for a possession {272} of a buryingplace {6913} of (4480) (854) Ephron {6085} the Hittite, {2850} before {6440} (5921) Mamre. {4471}

50:14 ¶ And Joseph {3130} returned {7725} <8799> into Egypt, {4714} he, (1931) and his brethren, {251} and all (3605) that went up {5927} <8802> with (854) him to bury {6912} <8800> (853) his father, {1} after {310} he had buried {6912} <8800> (853) his father. {1}

50:15 ¶ And when Joseph's {3130} brethren {251} saw {7200} <8799> that (3588) their father {1} was dead, {4191} <8804> they said, {559} <8799> Joseph {3130} will peradventure {3863} hate (7852) us, [7852] <8799> and will certainly [7725] <8687> requite {7725} <8686> us (853) all (3605) the evil {7451} which (834) we did {1580} <8804> unto him.

50:16 And they sent a messenger {6680} <8762> unto (413) Joseph, {3130} saying, {559} <8800> Thy father {1} did command {6680} <8765> before {6440} he died, {4194} saying, {559} <8800>

50:17 So (3541) shall ye say {559} <8799> unto Joseph, {3130} Forgive, {5375} <8798> I pray thee {577} now, (4994) the trespass {6588} of thy brethren, {251} and their sin; {2403} for (3588) they did {1580} <8804> unto thee evil: {7451} and now, (6258) we pray thee, (4994) forgive {5375} <8798> the trespass {6588} of the servants {5650} of the God {430} of thy father. {1} And Joseph {3130} wept {1058} <8799> when they spake {1696} <8763> unto (413) him.

50:18 And his brethren {251} also (1571) went [3212] <8799> (1980) and fell down {5307} <8799> before his face; {6440} and they said, {559} <8799> Behold, (2009) we [be] thy servants. {5650}

50:19 And Joseph {3130} said {559} <8799> unto (413) them, Fear {3372} <8799> not: (408) for (3588) [am] I (589) in the place (8478) of God? {430}

50:20 But as for you, (859) ye thought {2803} <8804> evil {7451} against (5921) me; [but] God {430} meant (2803) it [2803] <8804> unto good, {2896} to {4616} bring to pass, {6213} <8800> as [it is] this (2088) day, {3117} to save [2421] <0> much [7227] people [5971] alive. {2421} <8687> (5971) (7227)

50:21 Now (6258) therefore fear {3372} <8799> ye not: (408) I (595) will nourish {3557} <8770> you, and your little ones. {2945} And he comforted {5162} <8762> them, and spake {1696} <8762> kindly {3820} (5921) unto them.

50:22 ¶ And Joseph {3130} dwelt {3427} <8799> in Egypt, {4714} he, (1931) and his father's {1} house: {1004} and Joseph {3130} lived {2421} <8799> an hundred {3967} and ten {6235} years. {8141}

50:23 And Joseph {3130} saw {7200} <8799> Ephraim's {669} children {1121} of the third {8029} [generation]: the children {1121} also (1571) of Machir {4353} the son {1121} of Manasseh {4519} were brought up {3205} <8795> upon (5921) Joseph's {3130} knees. {1290}

50:24 And Joseph {3130} said {559} <8799> unto (413) his brethren, {251} I (595) die: {4191} <8801> and God {430} will surely [6485] <8800> visit {6485} <8799> you, and bring (5927) you out [5927] <8689> of (4480) this (2063) land {776} unto (413) the land {776} which (834) he sware {7650} <8738> to Abraham, {85} to Isaac, {3327} and to Jacob. {3290}

50:25 And Joseph {3130} took an oath {7650} <8686> of (853) the children {1121} of Israel, {3478} saying, {559} <8800> God {430} will surely [6485] <8800> visit {6485} <8799> you, and ye shall carry up {5927} <8689> (853) my bones {6106} from hence. {2088} (4480)

50:26 So Joseph {3130} died, {4191} <8799> [being] an hundred {3967} and ten {6235} years {8141} old: {1121} and they embalmed {2590} <8799> him, and he was put {3455} <8799> in a coffin {727} in Egypt. {4714}
