4:1 ¶ And Adam [120] (121) knew {3045} {853} <8804> Eve {2332} his wife; {802} and she conceived, {2029} <8799> and bare {3205} {853} <8799> Cain, {7014} and said, {559} <8799> I have gotten {7069} <8804> a man {376} from {854} the LORD. {3068}

4:2 And she again {3254} <8686> bare {3205} <8800> (853) his brother {251} (853) Abel. {1893} And Abel {1893} was (1961) a keeper {7462} <8802> of sheep, {6629} but Cain {7014} was (1961) a tiller {5647} <8802> of the ground. {127}

4:3 And in process {7093} (4480) of time {3117} it came to pass, (1961) that Cain {7014} brought {935} <8686> of the fruit {6529} (4480) of the ground {127} an offering {4503} unto the LORD. {3068}

4:4 And Abel, {1893} he {1931} also (1571) brought {935} <8689> of the firstlings {1062} (4480) of his flock {6629} and of the fat {2459} (4480) thereof. And the LORD {3068} had respect {8159} <8799> unto (413) Abel {1893} and to (413) his offering: {4503}

4:5 But unto (413) Cain {7014} and to (413) his offering {4503} he had not respect. {8159} <8804> (3808) And Cain {7014} was very {3966} wroth, {2734} <8799> and his countenance {6440} fell. {5307} <8799>

4:6 And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Cain, {7014} Why (4100) art thou wroth? {2734} <8804> and why (4100) is thy countenance {6440} fallen? {5307} <8804>

4:7 If {518} thou doest well, {3190} <8686> shalt thou not (3808) be accepted? {7613} and if (518) thou doest not (3808) well, {3190} <8686> sin {2403} lieth {7257} <8802> at the door. {6607} And unto (413) thee [shall be] his desire, {8669} and thou (859) shalt rule {4910} <8799> over him.

4:8 And Cain {7014} talked {559} <8799> with {413} Abel {1893} his brother: {251} and it came to pass, (1961) when they were (1961) in the field, {7704} that Cain {7014} rose up {6965} <8799> against {413} Abel {1893} his brother, {251} and slew (2026) him. [2026] <8799>

4:9 ¶ And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Cain, {7014} Where {335} [is] Abel {1893} thy brother? {251} And he said, {559} <8799> I know {3045} <8804> not: (3808) [Am] I (595) my brother's {251} keeper? {8104} <8802>

4:10 And he said, {559} <8799> What {4100} hast thou done? {6213} <8804> the voice {6963} of thy brother's {251} blood {1818} crieth {6817} <8802> unto (413) me from (4480) the ground. {127}

4:11 And now (6258) [art] thou (859) cursed {779} <8803> from (4480) the earth, {127} which (834) hath opened {6475} <8804> (853) her mouth {6310} to receive {3947} <8800> thy brother's {251} (853) blood {1818} from thy hand; {3027} (4480)

4:12 When {3588} thou tillest {5647} <8799> (853) the ground, {127} it shall not (3808) henceforth {3254} <8686> yield {5414} <8800> unto thee her strength; {3581} a fugitive {5128} <8801> and a vagabond {5110} <8802> shalt thou be (1961) in the earth. {776}

4:13 And Cain {7014} said {559} <8799> unto (413) the LORD, {3068} My punishment {5771} [is] greater {1419} than I can bear. {5375} <8800> (4480)

4:14 Behold, (2005) thou hast driven me out {1644} <8765> (853) this day {3117} from (4480) (5921) the face {6440} of the earth; {127} and from [5921] thy face {6440} (4480) shall I be hid; {5641} <8735> and I shall be (1961) a fugitive {5128} <8801> and a vagabond {5110} <8802> in the earth; {776} and it shall come to pass, {1961} <8804> [that] every one (3605) that findeth (4672) me [4672] <8802> shall slay (2026) me. [2026] <8799>

4:15 And the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> unto him, Therefore {3651} whosoever (3605) slayeth {2026} <8802> Cain, {7014} vengeance shall be taken {5358} <8714> on him sevenfold. {7659} And the LORD {3068} set {7760} <8799> a mark {226} upon Cain, {7014} lest {1115} any (3605) finding {4672} <8802> him should kill {5221} <8687> him.

4:16 ¶ And Cain {7014} went out {3318} <8799> from the presence {6440} (4480) of the LORD, {3068} and dwelt {3427} <8799> in the land {776} of Nod, {5113} on the east {6926} of Eden. {5731}

4:17 And Cain {7014} knew {3045} <8799> (853) his wife; {802} and she conceived, {2029} <8799> and bare {3205} <8799> (853) Enoch: {2585} and he builded {1129} <8802> (1961) a city, {5892} and called {7121} <8799> the name {8034} of the city, {5892} after the name {8034} of his son, {1121} Enoch. {2585}

4:18 And unto Enoch {2585} was born {3205} <8735> (853) Irad: {5897} and Irad {5897} begat {3205} <8804> (853) Mehujael: {4232} and Mehujael {4232} begat {3205} <8804> (853) Methusael: {4967} and Methusael {4967} begat {3205} <8804> (853) Lamech. {3929}

4:19 ¶ And Lamech {3929} took {3947} <8799> unto him two {8147} wives: {802} the name {8034} of the one {259} [was] Adah, {5711} and the name {8034} of the other {8145} Zillah. {6741}

4:20 And Adah {5711} bare {3205} <8799> (853) Jabal: {2989} he (1931) was (1961) the father {1} of such as dwell {3427} <8802> in tents, {168} and [of such as have] cattle. {4735}

4:21 And his brother's {251} name {8034} [was] Jubal: {3106} he (1931) was (1961) the father {1} of all (3605) such as handle {8610} <8802> the harp {3658} and organ. {5748}

4:22 And Zillah, {6741} she (1931) also (1571) bare {3205} <8804> (853) Tubalcain, {8423} an instructer {3913} <8803> of every (3605) artificer {2794} in brass {5178} and iron: {1270} and the sister {269} of Tubalcain {8423} [was] Naamah. {5279}

4:23 And Lamech {3929} said {559} <8799> unto his wives, {802} Adah {5711} and Zillah, {6741} Hear {8085} <8798> my voice; {6963} ye wives {802} of Lamech, {3929} hearken {238} <8685> unto my speech: {565} for (3588) I have slain {2026} <8804> a man {376} to my wounding, {6482} and a young man {3206} to my hurt. {2250}

4:24 If {3588} Cain {7014} shall be avenged {5358} <8714> sevenfold, {7659} truly Lamech {3929} seventy {7657} and sevenfold. {7651}

4:25 ¶ And Adam [120] (121) knew {3045} <8799> (853) his wife {802} again; {5750} and she bare {3205} <8799> a son, {1121} and called {7121} <8799> his (853) name {8034} Seth: {8352} For (3588) God, {430} [said she], hath appointed {7896} <8804> me another {312} seed {2233} instead [8478] of (8478) Abel, {1893} whom [3588] Cain {7014} slew. {2026} <8804>

4:26 And to Seth, {8352} to him {1931} also (1571) there was born {3205} <8795> a son; {1121} and he called {7121} <8799> (853) his name {8034} Enos: {583} then (227) began (2490) men [2490] <8717> to call {7121} <8800> upon the name {8034} of the LORD. {3068}
