Chapter 8

1  The waters asswage.  4  The ark resteth on Ararat.  7  The raven and the dove.  15  Noah, being commanded,  18  goeth forth of the ark.  20  He buildeth an altar, and offereth sacrifice,  21  which God accepteth, and promiseth to curse the earth no more.

8:1 ¶ And God {430} remembered {2142} <8799> (853) Noah, {5146} and every (3605) living thing, {2416} and all (3605) the cattle {929} that (834) [was] with (854) him in the ark: {8392} and God {430} made [5674] <0> a wind {7307} to pass {5674} <8686> over {5921} the earth, {776} and the waters {4325} asswaged; {7918} <8799>

8:2 The fountains {4599} also of the deep {8415} and the windows {699} of heaven {8064} were stopped, {5534} <8735> and the rain {1653} from (4480) heaven {8064} was restrained; {3607} <8735>

8:3 And the waters {4325} returned {7725} <8799> from off (4480) (5921) the earth {776} continually: {1980} {7725} <8800> and after the end {7097} (4480) of the hundred {3967} and fifty {2572} days {3117} the waters {4325} were abated. {2637} <8799>

8:4 And the ark {8392} rested {5117} <8799> in the seventh {7637} month, {2320} on the seventeenth {6240} {7651} day {3117} of the month, {2320} upon (5921) the mountains {2022} of Ararat. {780}

8:5 And the waters {4325} decreased {2637} <8800> continually {1980} <8800> (1961) until {5704} the tenth {6224} month: {2320} in the tenth {6224} [month], on the first {259} [day] of the month, {2320} were the tops {7218} of the mountains {2022} seen. {7200} <8738>

8:6 ¶ And it came to pass (1961) at the end {7093} (4480) of forty {705} days, {3117} that Noah {5146} opened {6605} <8799> (853) the window {2474} of the ark {8392} which (834) he had made: {6213} <8804>

8:7 And he sent forth {7971} <8762> (853) a raven, {6158} which went forth {3318} <8799> to [3318] <8800> and fro, {7725} <8800> (3318) until (5704) the waters {4325} were dried up {3001} <8800> from off (4480) (5921) the earth. {776}

8:8 Also he sent forth {7971} <8762> (853) a dove {3123} from (4480) (854) him, to see {7200} <8800> if the waters {4325} were abated {7043} <8804> from off (4480) (5921) the face {6440} of the ground; {127}

8:9 But the dove {3123} found {4672} <8804> no (3808) rest {4494} for the sole {3709} of her foot, {7272} and she returned {7725} <8799> unto (413) him into (413) the ark, {8392} for (3588) the waters {4325} [were] on (5921) the face {6440} of the whole (3605) earth: {776} then he put forth {7971} <8799> his hand, {3027} and took (3947) her, [3947] <8799> and pulled her in {935} <8686> (853) unto (413) him into (413) the ark. {8392}

8:10 And he stayed {2342} <8799> yet (5750) other {312} seven {7651} days; {3117} and again {3254} <8686> he sent forth {7971} <8763> (853) the dove {3123} out of (4480) the ark; {8392}

8:11 And the dove {3123} came in {935} <8799> to (413) him in (6256) the evening; {6153} [6256] and, lo, (2009) in her mouth {6310} [was] an olive {2132} leaf {5929} pluckt off: {2965} so Noah {5146} knew {3045} <8799> that (3588) the waters {4325} were abated {7043} <8804> from off (4480) (5921) the earth. {776}

8:12 And he stayed {3176} <8735> yet (5750) other {312} seven {7651} days; {3117} and sent forth {7971} <8762> (853) the dove; {3123} which returned {7725} <8800> not (3808) again {3254} <8804> unto (413) him any more. {5750}

8:13 ¶ And it came to pass (1961) in the six {8337} hundredth {3967} and first (259) year, {8141} in the first {7223} [month], the first {259} [day] of the month, {2320} the waters {4325} were dried up {2717} <8804> from off (4480) (5921) the earth: {776} and Noah {5146} removed {5493} <8686> (853) the covering {4372} of the ark, {8392} and looked, {7200} <8799> and, behold, (2009) the face {6440} of the ground {127} was dry. {2717} <8804>

8:14 And in the second {8145} month, {2320} on the seven {7651} and twentieth {6242} day {3117} of the month, {2320} was the earth {776} dried. {3001} <8804>

8:15 ¶ And God {430} spake {1696} <8762> unto (413) Noah, {5146} saying, {559} <8800>

8:16 Go forth {3318} <8798> of (4480) the ark, {8392} thou, (859) and thy wife, {802} and thy sons, {1121} and thy sons' {1121} wives {802} with (854) thee.

8:17 Bring forth {3318} <8685> with (854) thee every (3605) living thing {2416} that (834) [is] with (854) thee, of all (4480) (3605) flesh, {1320} [both] of fowl, {5775} and of cattle, {929} and of every (3605) creeping thing {7431} that creepeth {7430} <8802> upon (5921) the earth; {776} that they may breed abundantly {8317} <8804> in the earth, {776} and be fruitful, {6509} <8804> and multiply {7235} <8804> upon (5921) the earth. {776}

8:18 And Noah {5146} went forth, {3318} <8799> and his sons, {1121} and his wife, {802} and his sons' {1121} wives {802} with (854) him:

8:19 Every (3605) beast, {2416} every (3605) creeping thing, {7431} and every (3605) fowl, {5775} [and] whatsoever {3605} creepeth {7430} <8802> upon (5921) the earth, {776} after their kinds, {4940} went forth {3318} <8804> out of (4480) the ark. {8392}

8:20 ¶ And Noah {5146} builded {1129} <8799> an altar {4196} unto the LORD; {3068} and took {3947} <8799> of every (4480) (3605) clean {2889} beast, {929} and of every (4480) (3605) clean {2889} fowl, {5775} and offered {5927} <8686> burnt offerings {5930} on the altar. {4196}

8:21 And the LORD {3068} smelled {7306} <8686> a sweet {5207} (853) savour; {7381} and the LORD {3068} said {559} <8799> in {413} his heart, {3820} I will not (3808) again {3254} <8686> curse {7043} <8763> (853) the ground {127} any more (5750) for man's [120] sake; {5668} (120) for (3588) the imagination {3336} of man's {120} heart {3820} [is] evil {7451} from his youth; {5271} (4480) neither (3808) will I again {3254} <8686> smite {5221} <8687> any more (5750) (853) every thing (3605) living, {2416} as (834) I have done. {6213} <8804>

8:22 While (5750) the earth {776} remaineth, {3117} (3605) seedtime {2233} and harvest, {7105} and cold {7120} and heat, {2527} and summer {7019} and winter, {2779} and day {3117} and night {3915} shall not (3808) cease. {7673} <8799>
