Chapter 9

1  God blesseth Noah.  4  Blood and murder are forbidden.  8  God's Covenant  13  signified by the rainbow.  18  Noah replenisheth the world,  20  planteth a vinyard,  21  is drunken, and mocked of his son,  25  curseth Canaan,  26  blesseth Shem,  27  prayeth for Japheth,  29  and dieth.

9:1 ¶ And God {430} blessed {1288} <8762> (853) Noah {5146} and his sons, {1121} and said {559} <8799> unto them, Be fruitful, {6509} <8798> and multiply, {7235} <8798> and replenish {4390} <8798> (853) the earth. {776}

9:2 And the fear (4172) of you [4172] and the dread (2844) of you [2844] shall be (1961) upon (5921) every (3605) beast {2416} of the earth, {776} and upon (5921) every (3605) fowl {5775} of the air, {8064} upon all (3605) that (834) moveth {7430} <8799> [upon] the earth, {127} and upon all (3605) the fishes {1709} of the sea; {3220} into your hand {3027} are they delivered. {5414} <8738>

9:3 Every (3605) moving thing {7431} that (834) liveth {2416} shall be (1961) meat {402} for you; even as the green {3418} herb {6212} have I given {5414} <8804> you (853) all things. (3605)

9:4 But {389} flesh {1320} with the life {5315} thereof, [which is] the blood {1818} thereof, shall ye not (3808) eat. {398} <8799>

9:5 And surely {389} (853) your blood {1818} of your lives {5315} will I require; {1875} <8799> at the hand {3027} (4480) of every (3605) beast {2416} will I require (1875) it, [1875] <8799> and at the hand {3027} (4480) of man; {120} at the hand {3027} (4480) of every man's {376} brother {251} will I require {1875} <8799> (853) the life {5315} of man. {120}

9:6 Whoso sheddeth {8210} <8802> man's {120} blood, {1818} by man {120} shall his blood {1818} be shed: {8210} <8735> for (3588) in the image {6754} of God {430} made {6213} <8804> he (853) man. {120}

9:7 And you, (859) be ye fruitful, {6509} <8798> and multiply; {7235} <8798> bring forth abundantly {8317} <8798> in the earth, {776} and multiply {7235} <8798> therein.

9:8 ¶ And God {430} spake {559} <8799> unto (413) Noah, {5146} and to (413) his sons {1121} with (854) him, saying, {559} <8800>

9:9 And I, (589) behold, (2009) I establish {6965} <8688> (853) my covenant {1285} with (854) you, and with (854) your seed {2233} after (310) you; [310]

9:10 And with (854) every (3605) living {2416} creature {5315} that (834) [is] with (854) you, of the fowl, {5775} of the cattle, {929} and of every (3605) beast {2416} of the earth {776} with (854) you; from all (4480) (3605) that go out {3318} <8802> of the ark, {8392} to every (3605) beast {2416} of the earth. {776}

9:11 And I will establish {6965} <8689> (853) my covenant {1285} with (854) you; neither (3808) shall all (3605) flesh {1320} be cut off {3772} <8735> any more (5750) by the waters {4325} (4480) of a flood; {3999} neither (3808) shall there any more (5750) be (1961) a flood {3999} to destroy {7843} <8763> the earth. {776}

9:12 And God {430} said, {559} <8799> This (2063) [is] the token {226} of the covenant {1285} which (834) I {589} make {5414} <8802> between (996) me and you and every (3605) living {2416} creature {5315} that (834) [is] with (854) you, for perpetual {5769} generations: {1755}

9:13 I do set {5414} <8804> (853) my bow {7198} in the cloud, {6051} and it shall be (1961) for a token {226} of a covenant {1285} between (996) me and the earth. {776}

9:14 And it shall come to pass, (1961) when I bring {6049} <8763> a cloud {6051} over (5921) the earth, {776} that the bow {7198} shall be seen {7200} <8738> in the cloud: {6051}

9:15 And I will remember {2142} <8804> (853) my covenant, {1285} which (834) [is] between (996) me and you and every (3605) living {2416} creature {5315} of all (3605) flesh; {1320} and the waters {4325} shall no (3808) more {5750} become (1961) a flood {3999} to destroy {7843} <8763> all (3605) flesh. {1320}

9:16 And the bow {7198} shall be (1961) in the cloud; {6051} and I will look upon (7200) it, [7200] <8804> that I may remember {2142} <8800> the everlasting {5769} covenant {1285} between {996} God {430} and [996] every (3605) living {2416} creature {5315} of all (3605) flesh {1320} that (834) [is] upon (5921) the earth. {776}

9:17 And God {430} said {559} <8799> unto (413) Noah, {5146} This (2063) [is] the token {226} of the covenant, {1285} which (834) I have established {6965} <8689> between (996) me and all (3605) flesh {1320} that (834) [is] upon (5921) the earth. {776}

9:18 ¶ And the sons {1121} of Noah, {5146} that went forth {3318} <8802> of (4480) the ark, {8392} were (1961) Shem, {8035} and Ham, {2526} and Japheth: {3315} and Ham {2526} [1931] [is] the father {1} of Canaan. {3667}

9:19 These (428) [are] the three {7969} sons {1121} of Noah: {5146} and of them (4480) (428) was the whole (3605) earth {776} overspread. {5310} <8804>

9:20 And Noah {5146} began {2490} <8686> [to be] an husbandman, {376} {127} and he planted {5193} <8799> a vineyard: {3754}

9:21 And he drank {8354} <8799> of (4480) the wine, {3196} and was drunken; {7937} <8799> and he was uncovered {1540} <8691> within {8432} his tent. {168}

9:22 And Ham, {2526} the father {1} of Canaan, {3667} saw {7200} <8799> (853) the nakedness {6172} of his father, {1} and told {5046} <8686> his two {8147} brethren {251} without. {2351}

9:23 And Shem {8035} and Japheth {3315} took {3947} <8799> (853) a garment, {8071} and laid {7760} <8799> [it] upon (5921) both {8147} their shoulders, {7926} and went [3212] <8799> (1980) backward, {322} and covered {3680} <8762> (853) the nakedness {6172} of their father; {1} and their faces {6440} [were] backward, {322} and they saw {7200} <8804> not (3808) their father's {1} nakedness. {6172}

9:24 And Noah {5146} awoke {3364} <8799> from his wine, {3196} (4480) and knew {3045} <8799> (853) what (834) his younger {6996} son {1121} had done {6213} <8804> unto him.

9:25 And he said, {559} <8799> Cursed {779} <8803> [be] Canaan; {3667} a servant {5650} of servants {5650} shall he be (1961) unto his brethren. {251}

9:26 And he said, {559} <8799> Blessed {1288} <8803> [be] the LORD {3068} God {430} of Shem; {8035} and Canaan {3667} shall be {1961} <8799> his servant. {5650}

9:27 God {430} shall enlarge {6601} <8686> Japheth, {3315} and he shall dwell {7931} <8799> in the tents {168} of Shem; {8035} and Canaan {3667} shall be (1961) his servant. {5650}

9:28 ¶ And Noah {5146} lived {2421} <8799> after {310} the flood {3999} three {7969} hundred {3967} [8141] and fifty {2572} years. {8141}

9:29 And all (3605) the days {3117} of Noah {5146} were (1961) nine {8672} hundred {3967} [8141] and fifty {2572} years: {8141} and he died. {4191} <8799>
