Chapter 28

1  The prophet threateneth Ephraim for thier pride and drunkenness.  5  The residue shall be advanced in the Kingdom of Christ.  7  He rebuketh their error.  9  Their untowardness to learn,  14  and their security.  16  Christ the sure foundation is promised.  18  Their security shall be tried.  23  They are incited to the consideration of God's discreet providence.

        28:1 ¶ Woe 1945 to the crown 5850 of pride, 1348 to the drunkards 7910 of Ephraim, 669 whose glorious 6643 beauty 8597 [is] a fading 5034 8802z flower, 6731 which 834x [are] on 5921x the head 7218 of the fat 8081 valleys 1516 of them that are overcome 1986 8803z with wine! 3196

        28:2 Behold, 2009x the Lord 136 hath a mighty 2389 and strong one, 533 [which] as a tempest 2230 of hail 1259 [and] a destroying 6986 storm, 8178 as a flood 2230 of mighty 3524 waters 4325 overflowing, 7857 8802z shall cast down 3240y 8689z 5117x to the earth 776 with the hand. 3027

        28:3 The crown 5850 of pride, 1348 the drunkards 7910 of Ephraim, 669 shall be trodden 7429 8735z under feet: 7272

        28:4 And the glorious 6643 beauty, 8597 which 834x [is] on 5921x the head 7218 of the fat 8081 valley, 1516 shall be 1961x a fading 5034 8802z flower, 6733 [and] as the hasty fruit 1061 before 2962x the summer; 7019 which 834x [when] he that looketh 7200 8802z upon it seeth, 7200 8799z while it is yet 5750x in his hand 3709 he eateth it up. 1104 8799z

        28:5 ¶ In that 1931x day 3117 shall the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 be 1961x for a crown 5850 of glory, 6643 and for a diadem 6843 of beauty, 8597 unto the residue 7605 of his people, 5971

        28:6 And for a spirit 7307 of judgment 4941 to him that sitteth 3427 8802z in 5921x judgment, 4941 and for strength 1369 to them that turn 7725 8688z the battle 4421 to the gate. 8179

        28:7 ¶ But they 428 also 1571x have erred 7686 8804z through wine, 3196 and through strong drink 7941 are out of the way; 8582 8804z the priest 3548 and the prophet 5030 have erred 7686 8804z through strong drink, 7941 they are swallowed up 1104 8738z of 4480 wine, 3196 they are out of the way 8582 8804z through 4480x strong drink; 7941 they err 7686 8804z in vision, 7203 they stumble 6328 8804z [in] judgment. 6417

        28:8 For 3588x all 3605x tables 7979 are full 4390 8804z of vomit 6892 [and] filthiness, 6675 [so that there is] no 1097x place 4725 [clean].

        28:9 ¶ 853x Whom 4310x shall he teach 3384 8686z knowledge? 1844 and whom 4310x shall he make to understand 995 8799z doctrine? 8052 [them that are] weaned 1580 8803z from the milk, 2461 4480x [and] drawn 6267 from the breasts. 7699 4480x

        28:14 ¶ Wherefore 3651x hear 8085 8798z the word 1697 of the LORD, 3068 ye scornful 3944 men, 582y 376x that rule 4910 8802z this 2088x people 5971 which 834x [is] in Jerusalem. 3389

        28:15 Because 3588x ye have said, 559 8804z We have made 3772 8804z a covenant 1285 with 854x death, 4194 and with 5973x hell 7585 are we 6213y 8804z at 6213x agreement; 2374 when 3588x the overflowing 7857 8802z scourge 7752 8675z 7885y shall pass through, 5674 8799z 8675z 8804z it shall not 3808x come 935 8799z unto us: for 3588x we have made 7760 8804z lies 3577 our refuge, 4268 and under falsehood 8267 have we hid 5641y 8738z ourselves: 5641x

        28:16 ¶ Therefore 3651x thus 3541x saith 559 8804z the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 Behold, 2009x I lay 3245 8765z in Zion 6726 for a foundation 3245x a stone, 68 a tried 976 stone, 68 a precious 3368 corner 6438 [stone], a sure 3245 8716z foundation: 4143 he that believeth 539 8688z shall not 3808x make haste. 2363 8686z

        28:17 Judgment 4941 also will I lay 7760 8804z to the line, 6957 and righteousness 6666 to the plummet: 4949 and the hail 1259 shall sweep away 3261 8804z the refuge 4268 of lies, 3577 and the waters 4325 shall overflow 7857 8799z the hiding place. 5643

        28:18 ¶ And your covenant 1285 with 854x death 4194 shall be disannulled, 3722 8795z and your agreement 2380 with 854x hell 7585 shall not 3808x stand; 6965 8799z when 3588x the overflowing 7857 8802z scourge 7752 shall pass through, 5674 8799z then ye shall be 1961x trodden down 4823 by it.

        28:19 From the time 1767 4480x that it goeth forth 5674 8800z it shall take 3947 8799z you: for 3588x morning 1242 by morning 1242 shall it pass over, 5674 8799z by day 3117 and by night: 3915 and it shall be 1961x a vexation 2113 only 7535x [to] understand 995 8687z the report. 8052

        28:20 For 3588x the bed 4702 is shorter 7114 8804z than that [a man] can stretch 8311y 8692z himself 4480x 8311x [on it]: and the covering 4541 narrower 6887 8804z than that he can wrap 3664y 8692z himself 3664x [in it].

        28:21 For 3588x the LORD 3068 shall rise up 6965 8799z as [in] mount 2022 Perazim, 6559y 6556x he shall be wroth 7264 8799z as [in] the valley 6010 of Gibeon, 1391 that he may do 6213 8800z his work, 4639 his strange 2114 8801z work; 4639 and bring to pass 5647 8800z his act, 5656 his strange 5237 act. 5656

        28:22 Now 6258x therefore be ye not mockers, 3887 8698z 408x lest 6435x your bands 4147 be made strong: 2388 8799z for 3588x I have heard 8085 8804z from 4480x 854x the Lord 136 GOD 3069 of hosts 6635 a consumption, 3617 even determined 2782 8737z upon 5921x the whole 3605x earth. 776

        28:23 ¶ Give ye ear, 238 8685z and hear 8085 8798z my voice; 6963 hearken, 7181 8685z and hear 8085 8798z my speech. 565

        28:24 Doth the plowman 2790 8802z plow 2790 8799z all 3605x day 3117 to sow? 2232 8800z doth he open 6605 8762z and break the clods 7702 8762z of his ground? 127

        28:25 When 518x he hath made plain 7737 8765z the face 6440 thereof, doth he not 3808x cast abroad 6327 8689z the fitches, 7100 and scatter 2236 8799z the cummin, 3646 and cast 7760 8804z in the principal 7795 wheat 2406 and the appointed 5567 8737z barley 8184 and the rie 3698 in their place? 1367

        28:26 For his God 430 doth instruct 3256 8765z him to discretion, 4941 [and] doth teach 3384 8686z him.

        28:27 For 3588x the fitches 7100 are not 3808x threshed 1758 8714z with a threshing instrument, 2742 neither is a cart 5699 wheel 212 turned 5437x about 5437y 8714z upon 5921x the cummin; 3646 but 3588x the fitches 7100 are beaten out 2251 8735z with a staff, 4294 and the cummin 3646 with a rod. 7626

        28:28 Bread 3899 [corn] is bruised; 1854 8714z because 3588x he will not 3808x ever 5331 be threshing 1758 156y 8800z 8799z it, nor break 2000 8804z [it with] the wheel 1536 of his cart, 5699 nor 3808x bruise 1854 8799z it [with] his horsemen. 6571

        28:29 This 2063x also 1571x cometh forth 3318 8804z from 4480x 5973x the LORD 3068 of hosts, 6635 [which] is wonderful 6381 8689z in counsel, 6098 [and] excellent 1431 8689z in working. 8454
