Chapter 9

1  What joy shall be in the midst of afflictions, by the Kingdom and birth of Christ.  8  The judgments upon Israel for their pride,  13  for their hypocrisy,  18  and for their impenitency.

        9:1 ¶ Nevertheless 3588x the dimness 4155 [shall] not 3808x [be] such as 834x [was] in her vexation, 4164 when 6256 at the first 7223 he lightly afflicted 7043 8689z the land 776 of Zebulun 2074 and the land 776 of Naphtali, 5321 and afterward 314 did more grievously afflict 3513 8689z [her by] the way 1870 of the sea, 3220 beyond 5676 Jordan, 3383 in Galilee 1551 of the nations. 1471

        9:2 The people 5971 that walked 1980 8802z in darkness 2822 have seen 7200 8804z a great 1419 light: 216 they that dwell 3427 8802z in the land 776 of the shadow of death, 6757 upon 5921x them hath the light 216 shined. 5050 8804z

        9:3 Thou hast multiplied 7235 8689z the nation, 1471 [and] not 3808x increased 1431 8689z the joy: 8057 they joy 8055 8804z before 6440 thee according to the joy 8057 in harvest, 7105 [and] as 834x [men] rejoice 1523 8799z when they divide 2505 8763z the spoil. 7998

        9:4 For 3588x thou hast broken 2865 8689z 853x the yoke 5923 of his burden, 5448 and the staff 4294 of his shoulder, 7926 the rod 7626 of his oppressor, 5065 8802z as in the day 3117 of Midian. 4080

        9:5 For 3588x every 3605x battle 5430 of the warrior 5431 8802z [is] with confused noise, 7494 and garments 8071 rolled 1556 8775z in blood; 1818 but [this] shall be 1961x with burning 8316 [and] fuel 3980 of fire. 784

        9:6 For 3588x unto us a child 3206 is born, 3205 8795z unto us a son 1121 is given: 5414 8738z and the government 4951 shall be upon 5921x his shoulder: 7926 and his name 8034 shall be 1961x called 7121 8799z Wonderful, 6382 Counsellor, 3289 8802z The mighty 1368 God, 410 The everlasting 5703 Father, 1 The Prince 8269 of Peace. 7965

        9:7 Of the increase 4766 of [his] government 4951 and peace 7965 [there shall be] no 369x end, 7093 upon 5921x the throne 3678 of David, 1732 and upon 5921x his kingdom, 4467 to order 3559 8687z it, and to establish 5582 8800z it with judgment 4941 and with justice 6666 from henceforth 4480x 6258x even for 5704y ever. 5769 5704x The zeal 7068 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 will perform 6213 8799z this. 2063x

        9:8 ¶ The Lord 136 sent 7971 8804z a word 1697 into Jacob, 3290 and it hath lighted 5307 8804z upon Israel. 3478

        9:9 And all 3605x the people 5971 shall know, 3045 8804z [even] Ephraim 669 and the inhabitant 3427 8802z of Samaria, 8111 that say 559 8800z in the pride 1346 and stoutness 1433 of heart, 3824

        9:10 The bricks 3843 are fallen down, 5307 8804z but we will build 1129 8799z with hewn stones: 1496 the sycomores 8256 are cut down, 1438 8795z but we will change 2498 8686z [them into] cedars. 730

        9:11 Therefore the LORD 3068 shall set up 7682 8762z 853x the adversaries 6862 of Rezin 7526 against 5921x him, and join 5526y 0z his enemies 341y 8802z together; 5526 8770z 853x 341x

        9:12 The Syrians 758 before, 6924 4480x and the Philistines 6430 behind; 268 4480x and they shall devour 398 8799z 853x Israel 3478 with open 3605x mouth. 6310 For all 3605x this 2063x his anger 639 is not 3808x turned away, 7725 8804z but his hand 3027 [is] stretched out 5186x still. 5186y 8803z 5750x

        9:13 ¶ For the people 5971 turneth 7725 8804z not 3808x unto 5704x him that smiteth 5221 8688z them, neither 3808x do they seek 1875 8804z the LORD 3068 of hosts. 6635

        9:14 Therefore the LORD 3068 will cut off 3772 8686z from Israel 3478 4480x head 7218 and tail, 2180 branch 3712 and rush, 100 in one 259 day. 3117

        9:15 The ancient 2205 and honourable, 6440 5375 8803z he 1931 [is] the head; 7218 and the prophet 5030 that teacheth 3384 8688z lies, 8267 he 1931x [is] the tail. 2180

        9:16 For the leaders 833 8764z of this 2088x people 5971 cause [them] to err; 8582 8688z and [they that are] led 833 8794z of them [are] destroyed. 1104 8794z

        9:17 Therefore 5921x 3651x the Lord 136 shall have no 3808x joy 8055 8799z in 5921x their young men, 970 neither 3808x shall have mercy 7355 8762z on their fatherless 3490 and widows: 490 for 3588x every one 3605x [is] an hypocrite 2611 and an evildoer, 7489 8688z and every 3605x mouth 6310 speaketh 1696 8802z folly. 5039 For all 3605x this 2063x his anger 639 is not 3808x turned away, 7725 8804z but his hand 3027 [is] stretched out 5186x still. 5186y 8803z 5750x

        9:18 ¶ For 3588x wickedness 7564 burneth 1197 8804z as the fire: 784 it shall devour 398 8799z the briers 8068 and thorns, 7898 and shall kindle 3341 8799z in the thickets 5442 of the forest, 3293 and they shall mount up 55 8691z [like] the lifting up 1348 of smoke. 6227

        9:19 Through the wrath 5678 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 is the land 776 darkened, 6272 8738z and the people 5971 shall be 1961x as the fuel 3980 of the fire: 784 no 3808x man 376 shall spare 2550 8799z 413x his brother. 251

        9:20 And he shall snatch 1504 8799z on 5921x the right hand, 3225 and be hungry; 7457y 7456x and he shall eat 398 8799z on 5921x the left hand, 8040 and they shall not 3808x be satisfied: 7646 8804z they shall eat 398 8799z every man 376 the flesh 1320 of his own arm: 2220

        9:21 Manasseh, 4519 853x Ephraim; 669 and Ephraim, 669 853x Manasseh: 4519 [and] they 1992x together 3162 [shall be] against 5921x Judah. 3063 For all 3605x this 2063x his anger 639 is not 3808x turned away, 7725 8804z but his hand 3027 [is] stretched out 5186x still. 5186y 8803z 5750x
