Chapter 18

1  Judas betrayeth Jesus.  6  The officers fall to the ground.  10  Peter smiteth off Malchus' ear.  12  Jesus is taken, and led unto Annas and Caiaphas.  15  Peter's denial.  19  Jesus examined before Pilate.  36  His Kingdom.  40  The Jews ask Barabbas to be let loose.

18:12 Then {3767} the (3588) band {4686} and {2532} the (3588) captain {5506} and {2532} officers {5257} of the (3588) Jews {2453} took {4815} <5627> Jesus, {2424} and {2532} bound {1210} <5656> him, {846}

18:13 And {2532} led [520] <0> him [846] away {520} <5627> (846) to {4314} Annas {452} first; {4412} for {1063} he was {2258} <5713> father in law {3995} to Caiaphas, {2533} which {3739} was {2258} <5713> the high priest {749} that same {1565} year. {1763}

18:14 Now {1161} Caiaphas {2533} was (2258) he, [2258] <5713> (3588) which [3588] gave counsel {4823} <5660> to the (3588) Jews, {2453} that {3754} it was expedient {4851} <5719> that one {1520} man {444} should die {622} <5641> for {5228} the (3588) people. {2992}

18:17 Then {3767} saith {3004} <5719> the (3588) damsel {3814} that kept the door {2377} unto Peter, {4074} Art {1488} <5748> not {3361} thou {4771} also {2532} [one] of {1537} this {5127} man's {444} disciples? {3101} He {1565} saith, {3004} <5719> I am {1510} <5748> not. {3756}

18:18 And {1161} the (3588) servants {1401} and {2532} officers {5257} stood (2476) there, [2476] <5715> who had made {4160} <5761> a fire of coals; {439} for {3754} it was {2258} <5713> cold: {5592} and {2532} they warmed (2328) themselves: [2328] <5711> and {1161} Peter {4074} stood {2258} {2476} <5713> <5761> with {3326} them, {846} and {2532} warmed (2328) himself. 18:19 ¶ The (3588) high priest {749} then {3767} asked {2065} <5656> Jesus {2424} of {4012} his {846} disciples, {3101} and {2532} of {4012} his {846} doctrine. {1322}

18:23 Jesus {2424} answered {611} <5662> him, {846} If {1487} I have spoken {2980} <5656> evil, {2560} bear witness {3140} <5657> of {4012} the (3588) evil: {2556} but {1161} if {1487} well, {2573} why {5101} smitest {1194} <5719> thou me? {3165}

18:24 Now Annas {452} had sent {649} <5656> him {846} bound {1210} <5772> unto {4314} Caiaphas {2533} the (3588) high priest. {749}

18:25 And [1161] Simon {4613} Peter {4074} stood {2258} {2476} <5713> <5761> and {2532} warmed (2328) himself. 18:28 ¶ Then {3767} led (71) they {71} <5719> Jesus {2424} from {575} Caiaphas {2533} unto {1519} the (3588) hall of judgment: {4232} and {1161} it was {2258} <5713> early; {4405} and {2532} they (846) themselves [846] went {1525} <5627> not {3756} into {1519} the (3588) judgment hall, {4232} lest {3363} they should be defiled; {3392} <5686> but {235} that {2443} they might eat {5315} <5632> the (3588) passover. {3957}

18:29 Pilate {4091} then {3767} went out {1831} <5627> unto {4314} them, {846} and {2532} said, {2036} <5627> What {5101} accusation {2724} bring (5342) ye [5342] <5719> against {2596} this {5127} man? {444}

18:30 They answered {611} <5662> and {2532} said {2036} <5627> unto him, {846} If [1508] <0> (1487) he {3778} were {2258} <5713> not [1508] (3361) a malefactor, {2555} we would [302] not {3756} have (302) delivered [3860] <0> him [846] up {3860} <5656> (846) unto thee. {4671}
