Chapter 22

1  Eliphaz sheweth that man's goodness profiteth not God.  5  He accuseth Job of divers sins.  21  He exhorteth him to repentance, with promises of mercy.

        22:1 ¶ Then Eliphaz 464 the Temanite 8489 answered 6030 8799z and said, 559 8799z

        22:2 Can a man 1397 be profitable 5532 8799z unto God, 410 as 3588y he that 3588x is wise 7919 8688z may be profitable 5532 8799z unto 5921x himself?

        22:3 [Is it] any pleasure 2656 to the Almighty, 7706 that 3588x thou art righteous? 6663 8799z or 518x [is it] gain 1215 [to him], that 3588x thou makest thy ways 1870y perfect? 8552 8686z 1870x

        22:4 Will he reprove 3198 8686z thee for fear 3374 4480x of thee? will he enter 935 8799z with 5973x thee into judgment? 4941

        22:5 [Is] not 3808x thy wickedness 7451 great? 7227 and thine iniquities 5771 infinite? 7093 369x

        22:6 For 3588x thou hast taken a pledge 2254 8799z from thy brother 251 for nought, 2600 and stripped 6584 8686z the naked 6174 of their clothing. 899

        22:7 Thou hast not 3808x given water 4325 to the weary 5889 to drink, 8248 8686z and thou hast withholden 4513 8799z bread 3899 from the hungry. 7457 4480x

        22:8 But [as for] the mighty 2220 man, 376 he had the earth; 776 and the honourable man 5375 6440 8803z dwelt 3427 8799z in it.

        22:9 Thou hast sent 7971y 8765z widows 490y away 7971x 490x empty, 7387 and the arms 2220 of the fatherless 3490 have been broken. 1792 8792z

        22:10 Therefore 5921x 3651x snares 6341 [are] round about 5439 thee, and sudden 6597 fear 6343 troubleth 926 8762z thee;

        22:11 Or 176x darkness, 2822 [that] thou canst not 3808x see; 7200 8799z and abundance 8229 of waters 4325 cover 3680 8762z thee.

        22:12 [Is] not 3808x God 433 in the height 1363 of heaven? 8064 and behold 7200 8798z the height 7218 of the stars, 3556 how 3588x high 7311y 8804z they are! 7311x

        22:13 And thou sayest, 559 8804z How 4100x doth God 410 know? 3045 8804z can he judge 8199 8799z through 1157x the dark cloud? 6205

        22:14 Thick clouds 5645 [are] a covering 5643 to him, that he seeth 7200 8799z not; 3808x and he walketh 1980 8691z in the circuit 2329 of heaven. 8064

        22:15 Hast thou marked 8104 8799z the old 5769 way 734 which 834x wicked 205 men 4962 have trodden? 1869 8804z

        22:16 Which 834x were cut down 7059 8795z out of 3808x time, 6256 whose foundation 3247 was overflown 3332 8714z with a flood: 5104

        22:17 Which said 559 8802z unto God, 410 Depart 5493 8798z from 4480x us: and what 4100x can the Almighty 7706 do 6466 8799z for them?

        22:18 Yet he 1931x filled 4390 8765z their houses 1004 with good 2896 [things]: but the counsel 6098 of the wicked 7563 is far 7368 8804z from 4480x me.

        22:19 The righteous 6662 see 7200 8799z [it], and are glad: 8055 8799z and the innocent 5355 laugh them to scorn. 3932 8799z

        22:20 Whereas 518 our substance 7009 is not 3808x cut down, 3582 8738z but the remnant 3499 of them the fire 784 consumeth. 398 8804z

        22:21 Acquaint 5532 8685z now 4994x thyself with 5973x him, and be at peace: 7999 8798z thereby good 2896 shall come 935 8799z unto thee.

        22:22 Receive, 3947 8798z I pray thee, 4994x the law 8451 from his mouth, 6310 4480x and lay up 7760 8798z his words 561 in thine heart. 3824

        22:23 If 518x thou return 7725 8799z to 5704x the Almighty, 7706 thou shalt be built up, 1129 8735z thou shalt put away 7368y 0z iniquity 5766 far 7368 8686z from thy tabernacles. 168 4480x

        22:24 Then shalt thou lay up 7896 8800z gold 1220 as 5921 dust, 6083 and the [gold] of Ophir 211 as the stones 6697 of the brooks. 5158

        22:25 Yea, the Almighty 7706 shall be 1961x thy defence, 1220 and thou shalt have plenty 8443 of silver. 3701

        22:26 For 3588x then 227x shalt thou have thy delight 6026 8691z in 5921x the Almighty, 7706 and shalt lift up 5375 8799z thy face 6440 unto 413x God. 433

        22:27 Thou shalt make thy prayer 6279 8686z unto 413x him, and he shall hear 8085 8799z thee, and thou shalt pay 7999 8762z thy vows. 5088

        22:28 Thou shalt also decree 1504 8799z a thing, 562 and it shall be established 6965 8799z unto thee: and the light 216 shall shine 5050 8804z upon 5921x thy ways. 1870

        22:29 When 3588x [men] are cast down, 8213 8689z then thou shalt say, 559 8799z [There is] lifting up; 1466 and he shall save 3467 8686z the humble 7807y person. 5869 7807x

        22:30 He shall deliver 4422 8762z the island 336 of the innocent: 5355 and it is delivered 4422 8738z by the pureness 1252 of thine hands. 3709
