Chapter 21

1  Israel with some loss destroy the Canaanites at Hormah.  4  The people murmuring are plagued with fiery serpents.  7  They repenting are healed by a brasen serpent.  10  Sundry journeys of the Israelites.  21  Sihon is overcome,  33  and Og.

        21:1 ¶ And [when] king 4428 Arad 6166 the Canaanite, 3669 which dwelt 3427 8802z in the south, 5045 heard 8085y 8799z tell 8085x that 3588x Israel 3478 came 935 8802z by the way 1870 of the spies; 871 then he fought 3898 8735z against Israel, 3478 and took 7617 8799z [some] of 4480x them prisoners. 7628

        21:2 And Israel 3478 vowed 5087 8799z a vow 5088 unto the LORD, 3068 and said, 559 8799z If 518x thou wilt indeed 5414y 8800z deliver 5414 8799z 853x this 2088x people 5971 into my hand, 3027 then I will utterly destroy 2763 8689z 853x their cities. 5892

        21:3 And the LORD 3068 hearkened 8085 8799z to the voice 6963 of Israel, 3478 and delivered up 5414 8799z 853x the Canaanites; 3669 and they utterly destroyed 2763 8686z them and their cities: 5892 and he called 7121 8799z the name 8034 of the place 4725 Hormah. 2767

        21:4 ¶ And they journeyed 5265 8799z from mount 2022 Hor 2023 4480x by the way 1870 of the Red 5488 sea, 3220 to compass 5437 8800z 853x the land 776 of Edom: 123 and the soul 5315 of the people 5971 was much discouraged 7114 8799z because of the way. 1870

        21:5 And the people 5971 spake 1696 8762z against God, 430 and against Moses, 4872 Wherefore 4100x have ye brought us up 5927 8689z out of Egypt 4714 4480x to die 4191 8800z in the wilderness? 4057 for 3588x [there is] no 369x bread, 3899 neither 369x [is there any] water; 4325 and our soul 5315 loatheth 6973 8804z this light 7052 bread. 3899

        21:6 And the LORD 3068 sent 7971 8762z 853x fiery 8314 serpents 5175 among the people, 5971 and they bit 5391 8762z 853x the people; 5971 and much 7227 people 5971 of Israel 3478 4480x died. 4191 8799z

        21:7 ¶ Therefore the people 5971 came 935 8799z to 413x Moses, 4872 and said, 559 8799z We have sinned, 2398 8804z for 3588x we have spoken 1696 8765z against the LORD, 3068 and against thee; pray 6419 8690z unto 413x the LORD, 3068 that he take away 5493 8686z 853x the serpents 5175 from 4480x 5921x us. And Moses 4872 prayed 6419 8691z for 1157x the people. 5971

        21:8 And the LORD 3068 said 559 8799z unto 413x Moses, 4872 Make 6213 8798z thee a fiery serpent, 8314 and set 7760 8798z it upon 5921x a pole: 5251 and it shall come to pass, 1961x that every one 3605x that is bitten, 5391 8803z when he looketh 7200y 8804z upon 7200x it, shall live. 2425 8804z

        21:9 And Moses 4872 made 6213 8799z a serpent 5175 of brass, 5178 and put 7760 8799z it upon 5921x a pole, 5251 and it came to pass, 1961x that if 518x a serpent 5175 had bitten 5391 8804z 853x any man, 376 when he beheld 5027 8689z 413x the serpent 5175 of brass, 5178 he lived. 2425 8804z

        21:10 ¶ And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 set forward, 5265 8799z and pitched 2583 8799z in Oboth. 88

        21:11 And they journeyed 5265 8799z from Oboth, 88 4480x and pitched 2583 8799z at Ijeabarim, 5863 in the wilderness 4057 which 834x [is] before 6440 5921x Moab, 4124 toward the sunrising. 4217 8121 4480x

        21:12 ¶ From thence 4480x 8033x they removed, 5265 8804z and pitched 2583 8799z in the valley 5158 of Zared. 2218

        21:13 From thence 4480x 8033x they removed, 5265 8804z and pitched 2583 8799z on the other side 5676 4480x of Arnon, 769 which 834x [is] in the wilderness 4057 that cometh out 3318 8802z of the coasts 1366 4480x of the Amorites: 567 for 3588x Arnon 769 [is] the border 1366 of Moab, 4124 between 996x Moab 4124 and the Amorites. 567

        21:14 Wherefore 5921x 3651x it is said 559 8735z in the book 5612 of the wars 4421 of the LORD, 3068 853x What he did 2052 in the Red sea, 5492 and in the brooks 5158 of Arnon, 769

        21:15 And at the stream 793 of the brooks 5158 that 834x goeth down 5186 8804z to the dwelling 3427y 8800z 7675x of Ar, 6144 and lieth 8172 8738z upon the border 1366 of Moab. 4124

        21:16 And from thence 4480x 8033x [they went] to Beer: 876 that 1931x [is] the well 875 whereof 834x the LORD 3068 spake 559 8804z unto Moses, 4872 Gather 622y 0z the people 5971y together, 622 8798z 853x 5971x and I will give 5414 8799z them water. 4325

        21:17 ¶ Then 227x Israel 3478 sang 7891 8799z 853x this 2063x song, 7892 Spring up, 5927 8798z O well; 875 sing 6030 8798z ye unto it:

        21:18 The princes 8269 digged 2658 8804z the well, 875 the nobles 5081 of the people 5971 digged 3738 8804z it, by [the direction of] the lawgiver, 2710 8781z with their staves. 4938 And from the wilderness 4057 4480x [they went] to Mattanah: 4980

        21:19 And from Mattanah 4980 4480x to Nahaliel: 5160 and from Nahaliel 5160 4480x to Bamoth: 1120

        21:20 And from Bamoth 1120 4480x [in] the valley, 1516 that 834x [is] in the country 7704 of Moab, 4124 to the top 7218 of Pisgah, 6449 which looketh 8259 8738z toward 6440 5921x Jeshimon. 3452

        21:21 ¶ And Israel 3478 sent 7971 8799z messengers 4397 unto 413x Sihon 5511 king 4428 of the Amorites, 567 saying, 559 8800z

        21:22 Let me pass 5674 8799z through thy land: 776 we will not 3808x turn 5186 8799z into the fields, 7704 or into the vineyards; 3754 we will not 3808x drink 8354 8799z [of] the waters 4325 of the well: 875 [but] we will go along 3212y 8799z 1980x by the king's 4428 [high] way, 1870 until 5704x 834x we be past 5674 8799z thy borders. 1366

        21:23 And Sihon 5511 would not 3808x suffer 5414 8804z 853x Israel 3478 to pass 5674 8800z through his border: 1366 but Sihon 5511 gathered 622y 0z all his people 5971y together, 622 8799z 853x 3605x 5971x and went out 3318 8799z against 7125 8800z Israel 3478 into the wilderness: 4057 and he came 935 8799z to Jahaz, 3096 and fought 3898 8735z against Israel. 3478

        21:24 And Israel 3478 smote 5221 8686z him with the edge 6310 of the sword, 2719 and possessed 3423 8799z 853x his land 776 from Arnon 769 4480x unto 5704x Jabbok, 2999 even unto 5704x the children 1121 of Ammon: 5983 for 3588x the border 1366 of the children 1121 of Ammon 5983 [was] strong. 5794

        21:25 And Israel 3478 took 3947 8799z 853x all 3605x these 428x cities: 5892 and Israel 3478 dwelt 3427 8799z in all 3605x the cities 5892 of the Amorites, 567 in Heshbon, 2809 and in all 3605x the villages 1323 thereof.

        21:26 For 3588x Heshbon 2809 [was] the city 5892 of Sihon 5511 the king 4428 of the Amorites, 567 who 1931x had fought 3898 8738z against the former 7223 king 4428 of Moab, 4124 and taken 3947 8799z 853x all 3605x his land 776 out of his hand, 3027 4480x even unto 5704x Arnon. 769

        21:27 Wherefore 5921x 3651x they that speak in proverbs 4911 8802z say, 559 8799z Come 935 8798z into Heshbon, 2809 let the city 5892 of Sihon 5511 be built 1129 8735z and prepared: 3559 8709z

        21:28 For 3588x there is a fire 784 gone out 3318 8804z of Heshbon, 2809 4480x a flame 3852 from the city 7151 4480x of Sihon: 5511 it hath consumed 398 8804z Ar 6144 of Moab, 4124 [and] the lords 1167x of the high places 1181y 1116x of Arnon. 769

        21:29 Woe 188 to thee, Moab! 4124 thou art undone, 6 8804z O people 5971 of Chemosh: 3645 he hath given 5414 8804z his sons 1121 that escaped, 6412 and his daughters, 1323 into captivity 7622y 7628x unto Sihon 5511 king 4428 of the Amorites. 567

        21:30 We have shot 3384 8799z at them; Heshbon 2809 is perished 6 8804z even unto 5704x Dibon, 1769 and we have laid them waste 8074 8686z even unto 5704x Nophah, 5302 which 834x [reacheth] unto 5704x Medeba. 4311

        21:31 ¶ Thus Israel 3478 dwelt 3427 8799z in the land 776 of the Amorites. 567

        21:32 And Moses 4872 sent 7971 8799z to spy out 7270 8763z 853x Jaazer, 3270 and they took 3920 8799z the villages 1323 thereof, and drove out 3423 8686z 8675z 8799z 853x the Amorites 567 that 834x [were] there. 8033x

        21:33 ¶ And they turned 6437 8799z and went up 5927 8799z by the way 1870 of Bashan: 1316 and Og 5747 the king 4428 of Bashan 1316 went out 3318 8799z against 7125 8800z them, he, 1931x and all 3605x his people, 5971 to the battle 4421 at Edrei. 154

        21:34 And the LORD 3068 said 559 8799z unto 413x Moses, 4872 Fear 3372 8799z him not: 408x for 3588x I have delivered 5414 8804z him into thy hand, 3027 and all 3605x his people, 5971 and his land; 776 and thou shalt do 6213 8804z to him as 834x thou didst 6213 8804z unto Sihon 5511 king 4428 of the Amorites, 567 which 834x dwelt 3427 8802z at Heshbon. 2809

        21:35 So they smote 5221 8686z him, and his sons, 1121 and all 3605x his people, 5971 until 5704x there was none 1115 left 7604 8689z him alive: 8300 and they possessed 3423 8799z 853x his land. 776
