{Numbers 4:6} And shall put 5414 z8804 thereon x5921 the covering 3681 of badgers' 8476 skins, 5785 and shall spread 6566 z8804 over 4605 x4480 [it] a cloth 899 wholly 3632 of blue, 8504 and shall put 7760 z8804 in the staves 905 thereof.

badgers' skins:
This was not the covering of badgers' skins made for the tabernacle, which was carried by the Gershonites ("This¹ [is] the serviceª of the familiesª of the Gershonites,ª to serve,ª ° and for burdens:ª" {Num 4:24} and "And they shall bearª °¹ the curtainsª of the tabernacle,ª and the tabernacleª of the congregation,ª his covering,ª and the coveringª of the badgers'² skins¹ that¹ [is] aboveª ¹ upon¹ it, and the hangingª for the doorª of the tabernacleª of the congregation,ª" {Num 4:25}), but one made for the purpose of concealing and sheltering the ark when it was to be carried.

a cloth:
"And upon¹ the tableª of shewbreadª they shall spreadª ° a clothª of blue,ª and putª ° thereon¹ ¹ the dishes,ª and the spoons,ª and the bowls,ª and coversª to cover¹ withal:² and the continualª breadª shall be¹ thereon:¹ ... And they shall spreadª ° upon¹ them a clothª of scarlet,ª ª and coverª ° the same with a coveringª of badgers'ª skins,ª and shall put² ° in¹ ¹ the stavesª thereof." {Num 4:7-8} + "And upon¹ the goldenª altarª they shall spreadª ° a clothª of blue,ª and coverª ° it with a coveringª of badgers'ª skins,ª and shall put² °¹ ¹ to the stavesª thereof: ... And they shall take away the ashesª °¹ from the altar,ª and spreadª ° a purpleª clothª thereon:¹" {Num 4:11-13} + "¹ The clothsª of service,ª to do serviceª ° in the holyª [place],¹ the holyª garmentsª for Aaronª the priest,ª and the garmentsª of his sons,ª to minister in the priest's office.ª °" {Exd 35:19} + "And of¹ the blue,ª and purple,ª and scarlet,ª ª they madeª ° clothsª of service,ª to do serviceª ° in the holyª [place], and madeª °¹ the holyª garmentsª for Aaron;ª as¹ the LORDª commandedª °¹ Moses.ª" {Exd 39:1} + "¹ The clothsª of serviceª to do serviceª ° in the holyª [place], and¹ the holyª garmentsª for Aaronª the priest,ª and his sons'ª garments,ª to minister in the priest's office.ª °" {Exd 39:41}

and shall put:
Wesamoo baddaiv, rather, "and adjust the staves thereof;" i.e., dispose them rightly under the covering, that they might be laid on their shoulders. For the staves were never taken out of the rings.

the staves:
"And thou shalt makeª ° stavesª [of] shittimª wood,ª and overlayª ° them with gold.ª ... The stavesª shall beª ° in the ringsª of the ark:ª they shall not¹ be takenª ° from¹ it." {Exd 25:13-15} + "For¹ the cherubimsª spread forthª ° [their] two wingsª over¹ the placeª of the ark,ª and the cherubimsª coveredª °¹ the arkª and the stavesª thereof above.ª ¹ ... And they drew outª ° the staves,ª that the endsª of the stavesª were seen¹ out² °¹ in the holyª [place] beforeª ¹ the oracle,ª and they were not¹ seenª ° without:ª and there¹ they are¹ unto¹ this¹ day.ª" {1Kg 8:7-8}
