{Judges 20:1} Then all x3605 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 went out, 3318 z8799 and the congregation 5712 was gathered together 6950 z8735 as one 259 man, 376 from Dan 1835 x4480 even to x5704 Beersheba, 884 with the land 776 of Gilead, 1568 unto x413 the LORD 3068 in Mizpeh. 4709

Then all:
"And the chiefª of all¹ the people,ª [even] of all¹ the tribesª of Israel,ª presented² ° themselves¹ in the assemblyª of the peopleª of God,ª fourª hundredª thousandª footmenª ª that drewª ° sword.ª" {Jdg 20:2} + "And all¹ the peopleª aroseª ° as oneª man,ª saying,ª ° We will not¹ anyª [of us] go² °¹ to his tent,ª neither¹ will we anyª [of us] turnª ° into his house.ª" {Jdg 20:8} + "So all¹ the menª of Israelª were gatheredª ° against¹ the city,ª knit togetherª as oneª man.ª" {Jdg 20:11} + "And the childrenª of Israelª said,ª ° Who¹ [is there] among all¹ ¹ the tribesª of Israelª thatª came² ° not up¹ ¹ with the congregationª unto¹ the LORD?ª For¹ they had made¹ a greatª oathª concerning¹ him that came not upª °¹ to¹ the LORDª to Mizpeh,ª saying,ª ° He shall surely² ° be put to death.ª °" {Jdg 21:5} + "If¹ thou shalt hearª ° [say] in oneª of thy cities,ª which¹ the LORDª thy Godª hath givenª ° thee to dwellª ° there,¹ saying,ª ° ... as one man:
"And he tookª ° a yokeª of oxen,ª and hewed them in pieces,ª ° and sentª ° [them] throughout all¹ the coastsª of Israelª by the handsª of messengers,ª saying,ª ° Whosoever¹ cometh not forthª °¹ afterª Saulª and afterª Samuel,ª so¹ shall it be doneª ° unto his oxen.ª And the fearª of the LORDª fellª ° on¹ the people,ª and they came outª ° with oneª consent.ª ... "Then the childrenª of Ammonª were gathered together,ª ° and encampedª ° in Gilead.ª And the childrenª of Israelª assembled themselves together,ª ° and encampedª ° in Mizpeh.ª" {Jdg 10:17} + "Then Jephthahª went² °¹ with¹ the eldersª of Gilead,ª and the peopleª madeª ° him headª and captainª over¹ them: and Jephthahª utteredª °¹ all¹ his wordsª beforeª the LORDª in Mizpeh.ª" {Jdg 11:11} + "And Dilean,ª and Mizpeh,ª and Joktheel,ª" {Jsh 15:38} + "And Mizpeh,ª and Chephirah,ª and Mozah,ª" {Jsh 18:26} + "And Samuelª said,ª ° Gatherª °¹ all¹ Israelª to Mizpeh,² ¹ and I will prayª ° for¹ you unto¹ the LORD.ª ... And they gathered togetherª ° to Mizpeh,ª and drewª ° water,ª and poured [it] outª ° beforeª the LORD,ª and fastedª ° on that¹ day,ª and saidª ° there,¹ We have sinnedª ° against the LORD.ª And Samuelª judgedª °¹ the childrenª of Israelª in Mizpeh.² ¹" {1Sm 7:5-6} + "And Samuelª called² ° the people² together¹ ¹ ¹ unto¹ the LORDª to Mizpeh;ª" {1Sm 10:17} + "And when all¹ the captainsª of the armies,ª they¹ and their men,² ¹ heardª ° that¹ the kingª of Babylonª had made¹ Gedaliahª governor,ª ° there cameª ° to¹ Gedaliahª to Mizpah,ª even Ishmaelª the sonª of Nethaniah,ª and Johananª the sonª of Careah,ª and Seraiahª the sonª of Tanhumethª the Netophathite,ª and Jaazaniahª the sonª of a Maachathite,ª they¹ and their men.² ¹" {2Kg 25:23}; It does not appear that the Israelites on this occasion, were summoned by the authority of any one common head, but they came together by the consent and agreement, as it were, of one common heart, fired with a holy zeal for the honour of God and Israel. The place of their meeting was Mizpeh; they gathered together unto the Lord there; for Mizpeh was so very near to Shiloh, that their encampment might very well be supposed to reach from Mizpeh to Shiloh. Shiloh was a small town, and therefore, when there was a general meeting of the people to present themselves before God, they chose Mizpeh for their head quarters, which was the next adjoining city of note; perhaps, because they were not willing to give that trouble to Shiloh, which so great an assembly would occasion; it being the residence of the priests that attended the tabernacle.
