for the showbread:
It was the priests' office to place this bread before the Lord; and it was their privilege to feed on the old loaves when they were replaced by the new. "And Mattithiah,ª [one] of¹ the Levites,ª who¹ [was] the firstbornª of Shallumª the Korahite,ª had the set officeª over¹ the things that were madeª in the pans.ª ... for all manner of measure:
The standards of all weights and measures were in the sanctuary; and therefore the Levites had the inspection of weights and measures of every kind, that no fraud might in this way be committed. Honesty is inseparably connected with piety; and hence the Levites, being sufficiently numerous, were employed to superintend the former, as well as the latter. "Ye shall doª° no¹ unrighteousnessª in judgment,ª in meteyard,ª in weight,ª or in measure.ª ... Justª balances,ª justª weights,ª a justª ephah,ª and a justª hin,ª shall ye have:¹ I¹ [am] the LORDª your God,ª which¹ brought you outª°¹ of the landª¹ of Egypt.ª" {Lev 19:35-36} + "Of¹¹ the firstbornª of the childrenª of Israelª tookª° he¹ the money;ª a thousandª threeª hundredª and threescoreª and fiveª [shekels], after the shekelª of the sanctuary:ª" {Num 3:50}
