am 2962, bc 1042 (Title), It appears from "So they broughtª °¹ the arkª of God,ª and setª ° it in the midstª of the tentª that¹ Davidª had pitchedª ° for it: and they offeredª ° burnt sacrificesª and peace offeringsª beforeª God.ª ... And all¹ the peopleª departed² °¹ every manª to his house:ª and Davidª returnedª ° to blessª °¹ his house.ª" {1Ch 16:1-43}, where the former part of this Psalm, as far as the "Moreover he called² ° for¹ a famineª upon¹ the land:ª he brakeª ° the whole¹ staffª of bread.ª" {Psa 105:16}, is found with little variation, that David composed it at the removal of the ark to Mount Zion, and he himself probably enlarged it afterwards with the glorious detail of God's merciful dealings with Abraham and his posterity till their settlement in the land of Promise. The Hallelujah, which terminates the preceding Psalm, is made the title of this by the Septuagint, Vulgate, Arabic, and Ethiopic; and the Syriac considers it a paraphrase on the words, "Fear not, Jacob, to go down into Egypt;" "and teaches us spiritually not to fear when we are obliged to contend with devils; for God is our shield, and will fight for us."
