to proclaim:
The proclaiming of perfect liberty to the bound, and the year of acceptance with Jehovah, is a manifest allusion to the proclaiming of the year of the jubilee by sound of trumpet; and our Saviour, by applying this text to himself, plainly declares the typical design of that institution. "To openª° the blindª eyes,ª to bring outª° the prisonersª from the prison,ª¹ [and] them that sitª° in darknessª out of the prisonª house.ª¹" {Isa 42:7} + "That thou mayest sayª° to the prisoners,ª° Go forth;ª° to them that¹ [are] in darkness,ª Shew²° yourselves.¹ They shall feedª° in¹ the ways,ª and their pasturesª [shall be] in all¹ high places.ª" {Isa 49:9} + "Shall the preyª be takenª° from the mighty,ª¹ or¹ the lawfulª captiveª delivered?ª° ... But¹ thus¹ saithª° the LORD,ª Even¹ the captivesª of the mightyª shall be taken away,ª° and the preyª of the terribleª shall be delivered:ª° for I¹ will contend²° with¹ him that contendeth² with¹ thee, and I¹ will saveª° thy children.ª" {Isa 49:24-25} + "To hearª° the groaningª of the prisoner;ª to looseª° those that are appointedª to death;ª" {Psa 102:20} + "[This is] the wordª that¹ came¹ unto¹ Jeremiahª from¹¹ the LORD,ª after² that¹ the kingª Zedekiahª had madeª° a covenantª with¹ all¹ the peopleª which¹ [were] at Jerusalem,ª to proclaimª° libertyª unto them;" {Jer 34:8} + "As for thee¹ also,¹ by the bloodª of thy covenantª I have sent forthª° thy prisonersª out of the pitª¹ wherein [is] no¹ water.ª ... Turnª° you to the strong hold,ª ye prisonersª of hope:ª even¹ to dayª do I declareª° [that] I will renderª° doubleª unto thee;" {Zch 9:11-12} + "Andª ye shall knowª° the¹ truth,ª andª the¹ truthª shall make²° you² free.ª°¹ ... Ifª the¹ Sonª thereforeª shall make²° you² free,ª°¹ ye shall beª° freeª indeed.ª" {Jhn 8:32-36} + "To openª° theirª eyes,ª [and] to turnª° [them] fromª darknessª toª light,ª andª [from] the¹ powerª of Satanª untoª God,ª that¹ theyª may receiveª° forgivenessª of sins,ª andª inheritanceª amongª them¹ which are sanctifiedª° by faithª that¹ is inª me.ª" {Act 26:18} + "Know¹ ye²° not,ª thatª to whomª ye yieldª° yourselvesª servantsª toª obey,ª his servantsª ye areª° to whomª ye obey;ª° whetherª of sinª untoª death,ª orª of obedienceª untoª righteousness?ª ... Butª nowª being made freeª° fromª sin,ª andª become servantsª° to God,ª ye haveª° yourª fruitª untoª holiness,ª andª the¹ endª everlastingª life.ª" {Rom 6:16-22} + "Butª I seeª° anotherª lawª inª myª members,ª warring againstª° the¹ lawª of myª mind,ª andª bringing²° me² into captivityª°¹ to the¹ lawª of sinª which² isª° inª myª members.ª ... I thankª° Godª throughª Jesusª Christª ourª Lord.ª So¹ thenª² with the¹ mindª Iª myself²¹¹ serveª²° the lawª of God;ª butª with the¹ fleshª the lawª of sin.ª" {Rom 7:23-25} + "Inª meeknessª instructingª° those that oppose themselves;ª° if²° God² peradventureª¹ will giveª° themª repentanceª toª the acknowledgingª of the truth;ª ... Andª [that] they may recover themselvesª° out ofª the¹ snareª of the¹ devil,ª who are taken captiveª° byª himª atª hisª will.ª" {2Tm 2:25-26}
