{Jeremiah 24:2} One 259 basket 1731 [had] very 3966 good 2896 figs, 8384 [even] like the figs 8384 [that are] first ripe: 1073 and the other 259 basket 1731 [had] very 3966 naughty 7451 figs, 8384 which x834 could not x3808 be eaten, 398 z8735 they were so bad. 7455 x4480
One basket:
"Thus¹ saithª° the LORD,ª the Godª of Israel;ª Like these¹ goodª figs,ª so¹ will I acknowledgeª°¹ them that are carried away captiveª of Judah,ª whom¹ I have sentª° out of¹ this¹ placeª into the landª of the Chaldeansª for [their] good.ª ... And I will giveª° them an heartª to knowª° me, that¹ I¹ [am] the LORD:ª and they shall be¹ my people,ª and I¹ will be¹ their God:ª for¹ they shall returnª° unto¹ me with their whole¹ heart.ª" {Jer 24:5-7} + "I foundª° Israelª like grapesª in the wilderness;ª I sawª° your fathersª as the firstripeª in the fig treeª at her first time:ª [but] they¹ wentª° to Baalpeor,ª and separated²° themselves¹ unto [that] shame;ª and [their] abominationsª were¹ according as they loved.ª°" {Hsa 9:10} + "Woeª is me! for¹ I am¹ as when they have gatheredª the summer fruits,ª as the grapegleaningsª of the vintage:ª [there is] no¹ clusterª to eat:ª° my soulª desiredª° the firstripe fruit.ª" {Mic 7:1}
first ripe:
The boccore or figs of the early sort; perhaps those which are ripe about six weeks before the full season, which are reckoned a great dainty. See note on "And the gloriousª beauty,ª which¹ [is] on¹ the headª of the fatª valley,ª shall be¹ a fadingª° flower,ª [and] as the hasty fruitª before¹ the summer;ª which¹ [when] he that lookethª° upon it seeth,ª° while it is yet¹ in his handª he eateth it up.ª°" {Isa 28:4}.
naughty:
The winter fig, probably, then in its crude or unripe state. "And as the evilª figs,ª which¹ cannot¹ be eaten,ª° they are so evil;ª¹ surely¹ thus¹ saithª° the LORD,ª So¹ will I giveª°¹ Zedekiahª the kingª of Judah,ª and his princes,ª and the residueª of Jerusalem,ª that remainª° in this¹ land,ª and them that dwellª° in the landª of Egypt:ª ... And I will sendª°¹ the sword,ª¹ the famine,ª and the pestilence,ª among them, till¹ they be consumedª° from off¹¹ the landª that¹ I gaveª° unto them and to their fathers.ª" {Jer 24:8-10} + "What¹ could have been doneª° more¹ to my vineyard,ª that I have not¹ doneª° in it? wherefore,ª when I lookedª° that it should bring forthª° grapes,ª brought it forthª° wild grapes?ª" {Isa 5:4} + "For¹ the vineyardª of the LORDª of hostsª [is] the houseª of Israel,ª and the menª of Judahª his pleasantª plant:ª and he lookedª° for judgment,ª but behold¹ oppression;ª for righteousness,ª but behold¹ a cry.ª" {Isa 5:7} + "Sonª of man,ª What¹ is¹ the vineª treeª more than any¹¹ tree,ª [or than] a branchª which¹ is¹ among the treesª of the forest?ª ... Behold,¹ when it was¹ whole,ª it was meetª° for no¹ work:ª how much less¹ shall it be meetª° yet¹ for [any] work,ª when¹ the fireª hath devouredª° it, and it is burned?ª°" {Ezk 15:2-5} + "But ye¹ have profanedª° it, in that ye say,ª° The tableª of the LORD²¹ [is] polluted;ª° and the fruitª thereof, [even] his meat,ª [is] contemptible.ª° ... But cursedª° [be] the deceiver,ª° which² hath¹ in his flockª a male,ª and voweth,ª° and sacrificethª° unto the Lordª a corrupt thing:ª° for¹ I¹ [am] a greatª King,ª saithª° the LORDª of hosts,ª and my nameª [is] dreadfulª° among the heathen.ª" {Mal 1:12-14} + "Yeª areª° the¹ saltª of the¹ earth:ª butª ifª the¹ saltª have lost his savour,ª° wherewithªª shall it be salted?ª° it is thenceforthª goodª° forª nothing,ª butª to be castª° out,ª andª to be trodden under footª° ofª men.ª" {Mtt 5:13}
