he rebelled:

Shall he prosper:
"Sayª° thou, Thus¹ saithª° the Lordª GOD;ª Shall it prosper?ª° shall he not¹ pull upª°¹ the rootsª thereof, and cut offª° the fruitª thereof, that it wither?ª° it shall witherª° in all¹ the leaves²¹ of her spring,ª even without¹ greatª powerª or manyª peopleª to pluck it upª°¹ by the rootsª¹ thereof." {Ezk 17:9} + "That thou shouldest enterª° into covenantª with the LORDª thy God,ª and into his oath,ª which¹ the LORDª thy Godª makethª° with¹ thee this day:ª ... shall he escape:
