Seeing:
Though Zedekiah's oath had been given to a heathen, a conqueror, and a tyrant, yet God considered the violation of it a most aggravated sin against Him, and determined to punish him for it.

he:
"And all¹ the princes,ª and the mighty men,ª and all¹ the sonsª likewise¹ of kingª David,ª submitted¹ ¹ themselves² °² ² unto¹ Solomonª the king.ª" {1Ch 29:24} + "Now¹ be ye not stiffnecked,ª ª °¹ as your fathersª [were, but] yieldª °¹ yourselves² unto the LORD,ª and enterª ° into his sanctuary,ª which¹ he hath sanctifiedª ° for ever:ª and serveª °¹ the LORDª your God,ª that the fiercenessª of his wrathª may turn awayª ° from¹ you." {2Ch 30:8} *marg. he shall:
