{Micah 6:1} Hear 8085 z8798 ye now x4994 x853 what x834 the LORD 3068 saith; 559 z8802 Arise, 6965 z8798 contend 7378 z8798 thou before x854 the mountains, 2022 and let the hills 1389 hear 8085 z8799 thy voice. 6963
ye:
"Hear,ª° all¹ ye people;ª hearken,ª° O earth,ª and all that therein² is:¹ and let the Lordª GODª be¹ witnessª against you, the Lordª from his holyª temple.ª¹" {Mic 1:2} + "Then Samuelª saidª° unto¹ Saul,ª Stay,ª° and I will tellª° thee¹ what¹ the LORDª hath saidª° to¹ me this night.ª And he saidª° unto him, Say on.ª°" {1Sm 15:16} + "Hearª° ye, and give ear;ª° be not¹ proud:ª° for¹ the LORDª hath spoken.ª°" {Jer 13:15} + "Hearª°¹ this¹ wordª that¹ the LORDª hath spokenª° against¹ you, O childrenª of Israel,ª against¹ the whole¹ familyª which¹ I brought upª° from the landª¹ of Egypt,ª saying,ª°" {Ams 3:1} + "Whereforeª (asª the¹ Holyª Ghostª saith,ª° To dayª ifª ye will hearª° hisª voice,ª ... Hardenª° notª yourª hearts,ª asª inª the¹ provocation,ª inª the¹ dayª of temptationª inª the¹ wilderness:ª" {Hbr 3:7-8}
Arise:
The manner of raising attention, says Abp. Newcome, in "Hearª° ye now¹¹ what¹ the LORDª saith;ª° Arise,ª° contendª° thou before¹ the mountains,ª and let the hillsª hearª° thy voice.ª ... Hearª° ye, O mountains,ª¹ the LORD'Sª controversy,ª and ye strongª foundationsª of the earth:ª for¹ the LORDª hath a controversyª with¹ his people,ª and he will pleadª° with¹ Israel.ª" {Mic 6:1-2}, by calling a man to urge his plea in the face of all nature, and on the inanimate creation to hear the expostulation of Jehovah with his people, is truly awakening and magnificent. The words of Jehovah follow in "O my people,ª what¹ have I doneª° unto thee? and wherein¹ have I weariedª° thee? testifyª° against me. ... O my people,ª rememberª° now¹ what¹ Balakª kingª of Moabª consulted,ª° and what¹ Balaamª the sonª of Beorª answeredª° him from¹ Shittimª unto¹ Gilgal;ª that¹ ye may knowª° the righteousnessª of the LORD.ª" {Mic 6:3-5}; and God's mercies having been set before the people, one of them is introduced in a beautiful manner, asking what his duty is towards so gracious a God, "Wherewith¹ shall I come beforeª° the LORD,ª [and] bow²° myself¹ before the highª God?ª shall I come beforeª° him with burnt offerings,ª with calvesª of a yearª old?ª ... Will the LORDª be pleasedª° with thousandsª of rams,ª [or] with ten thousandsª of riversª of oil?ª shall I giveª° my firstbornª [for] my transgression,ª the fruitª of my bodyª [for] the sinª of my soul?ª" {Mic 6:6-7}. The answer follows in the words of the prophet, "He hath shewedª° thee, O man,ª what¹ [is] good;ª and what¹ doth the LORDª requireª° of¹ thee, but¹¹ to doª° justly,ª and to love²¹ mercy,ª and to walk²°¹ humblyª° with¹ thy God?ª" {Mic 6:8}.
contend:
"I callª°¹ heavenª and earthª to witnessª° against you this day,ª that¹ ye shall soonª utterly²° perishª° from off¹¹ the landª whereunto¹¹ ye¹ go overª°¹ Jordanª to possessª° it; ye shall not¹ prolongª° [your] daysª upon¹ it, but¹ shall utterly²° be destroyed.ª°" {Deu 4:26} + "Give ear,ª° O ye heavens,ª and I will speak;ª° and hear,ª° O earth,ª the wordsª of my mouth.ª" {Deu 32:1} + "[[A Psalmª of Asaph.]]ª The mightyª God,ª [even] the LORD,ª hath spoken,ª° and calledª° the earthª from the risingª¹ of the sunª unto¹ the going downª thereof." {Psa 50:1} + "He shall callª° to¹ the heavensª from above,ª¹ and to¹ the earth,ª that he may judgeª° his people.ª" {Psa 50:4} + "Hear,ª° O heavens,ª and give ear,ª° O earth:ª for¹ the LORDª hath spoken,ª° I have nourishedª° and brought upª° children,ª and they¹ have rebelledª° against me." {Isa 1:2} + "O earth,ª earth,ª earth,ª hearª° the wordª of the LORD.ª" {Jer 22:29} + "Also, thou¹ sonª of man,ª prophesyª° unto¹ the mountainsª of Israel,ª and say,ª° Ye mountainsª of Israel,ª hearª° the wordª of the LORD:ª" {Ezk 36:1} + "But ye,¹ O mountainsª of Israel,ª ye shall shoot forthª° your branches,ª and yieldª° your fruitª to my peopleª of Israel;ª for¹ they are at handª° to come.ª°" {Ezk 36:8} + "Andª he answeredª° and saidª° unto them,ª I tellª° youª that,ª ifª theseª should hold their peace,ª° the¹ stonesª would immediately cry out.ª°" {Lke 19:40}
before:
or, with, "And the mountainsª shall be moltenª° under¹ him, and the valleysª shall be cleft,ª° as waxª beforeª¹ the fire,ª [and] as the watersª [that are] poured²° down¹ a steep place.ª" {Mic 1:4} + "For¹ the dayª of the LORDª of hostsª [shall be] upon¹ every¹ [one that is] proudª and lofty,ª° and upon¹ every¹ [one that is] lifted up;ª° and he shall be brought low:ª° ... And upon¹ all¹ the highª° mountains,ª and upon¹ all¹ the hillsª [that are] lifted up,ª°" {Isa 2:12-14}
let:
"Again he saidª° unto¹ me, Prophesyª° upon¹ these¹ bones,ª and sayª° unto¹ them, O ye dryª bones,ª hearª° the wordª of the LORD.ª" {Ezk 37:4}
