then thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maid-servant thou shalt do likewise.

Then thou shalt takeª°¹ an aul,ª and thrustª° [it] through his earª unto the door,ª and he shall be¹ thy servantª for ever.ª And also¹ unto thy maidservantª thou shalt doª° likewise.¹
