And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, that [the king] cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

And it came to pass,¹ [that] when Jehudiª had readª° threeª or fourª leaves,ª he cutª° it with the penknife,ªª° and castª° [it] into¹ the fireª that¹ [was] on¹ the hearth,ª until¹ all¹ the rollª was consumedª° in¹ the fireª that¹ [was] on¹ the hearth.ª
