And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

And Iª knewª° himª not:ª butª he that sentª° meª to baptizeª° withª water,ª the sameª saidª° unto me,ª Uponª whomªª thou shalt seeª° the¹ Spiritª descending,ª° andª remainingª° onª him,ª the sameª isª° he which baptizethª° withª the Holyª Ghost.ª

And I did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water, he said to me -On whom thou seest the Spirit descend, and rest upon him, he baptizeth with the Holy Spirit.

κἀγὼ οὐκ ᾔδειν αὐτόν, ἀλλ' ὁ πέμψας με βαπτίζειν ἐν ὕδατι ἐκεῖνός μοι εἶπεν Ἐφ' ὃν ἂν ἴδῃς τὸ πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον καὶ μένον ἐπ' αὐτόν, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ βαπτίζων ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ:

and-I not I-had-come-to-have-seen to-it, other the-one having-dispatched to-me to-immerse-to in unto-a-water, the-one-thither unto-me it-had-said, Upon to-which ever thou-might-have-had-seen to-the-one to-a-currenting-to to-stepping-down and to-staying upon to-it, the-one-this it-be the-one immersing-to in unto-a-currenting-to unto-hallow-belonged.
