This saying therefore went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, that he should not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what [is that] to thee?

Thenª went²° this² saying² abroadª°¹¹ amongª the¹ brethren,ª thatª thatª discipleª should²° notª die:ª° yetª Jesusª saidª° notª unto him,ª² He shall²°¹ notª die;ª° but,ª Ifª I willª° that heª tarryª° tillª I come,ª° whatª [is that] toª thee?ª

And that word went forth among the brethren, that that disciple dieth not. But Jeshu did not say, He dieth not, but, If I will that this (man) wait until I come, what (is that) to thee?

And this saying went forth among the brethren, that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say, that he would not die; but, If I will that he abide here until I come, what [is that] to thee.

Ἐξῆλθεν οὖν οὗτος ὁ λόγος εἰς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὅτι ὁ μαθητὴς ἐκεῖνος οὐκ ἀποθνήσκει. οὐκ εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι οὐκ ἀποθνήσκει, ἀλλ' Ἐὰν αὐτὸν θέλω μένειν ἕως ἔρχομαι, τί πρὸς σέ;

It-had-came-out accordingly, the-one-this the-one a-forthee, into to-the-ones to-brethrened, to-which-a-one the-one a-learner the-one-thither not it-dieth-off. Not it-had-said moreover unto-it, the-one an-Iesous, to-which-a-one not it-dieth-off, other, If-ever to-it I-might-determine to-stay unto-if-which I-come, what-one toward to-THEE?
