 5:1 ¶ But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that aught be written unto you.

 5:1 ¶ Butº ofº theº timesº andº theº seasons,º brethren,º ye haveºº noº needº that I writeºº unto you.º

 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

 5:2 Forº yourselvesº knowºº perfectlyº thatº theº dayº of the Lordº soº comethºº asº a thiefº inº the night.º

 5:3 When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.

 5:3 Forº whenº they shall say,ºº Peaceº andº safety;º thenº suddenº destructionº cometh uponºº them,º asº travailº uponº a woman with child;ºººº andº they shallºº notº escape.ºº

 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief:

 5:4 Butº ye,º brethren,º areºº notº inº darkness,º thatº that dayº should overtakeºº youº asº a thief.º

 5:5 for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness;

 5:5 Yeº areºº allº the childrenº of light,º andº the childrenº of the day:º we areºº notº of the night,º norº of darkness.º

 5:6 so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober.

 5:6 Thereforeºº let usºº notº sleep,ºº asºº [do]º others;º butº let us watchºº andº be sober.ºº

 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

 5:7 Forº they that sleepºº sleepºº in the night;º andº they that be drunkenºº are drunkenºº in the night.º

 5:8 But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

 5:8 Butº letºº us,º who areºº of the day,º be sober,ºº putting onºº the breastplateº of faithº andº love;º andº for an helmet,º the hopeº of salvation.º

 5:9 For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

 5:9 Forº Godº hathºº notº appointedºº usº toº wrath,º butº toº obtainºº salvationº byº ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ,º

 5:10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

 5:10 Whoº diedºº forº us,º that,º whetherº we wakeºº orº sleep,ºº we should liveºº togetherº withº him.º

 5:11 Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.

 5:11 Whereforeº comfortºº yourselves together,º andº edifyºº oneº another,º evenº asº alsoº ye do.ºº

 5:12 But we beseech you, brethren, to know them that labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

 5:12 Andº we beseechºº you,º brethren,º to knowºº them whichº labourºº amongº you,º andº are overºº youº inº the Lord,º andº admonishºº you;º

 5:13 and to esteem them exceeding highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

 5:13 Andº to esteemºº themº veryº highlyººº inº loveº forº theirº work's sake.ººº [And] be at peaceºº amongº yourselves.º

 5:14 And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.

 5:14 Nowº we exhortºº you,º brethren,º warnºº them that are unruly,º comfortºº theº feebleminded,º supportºº theº weak,º be patientºº towardº allº [men].

 5:15 See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.

 5:15 Seeºº that noneºº renderºº evilº forº evilº unto anyº [man]; butº everº followºº that whichº is good,º bothº amongº yourselves,º andº toº allº [men].

 5:16 Rejoice always;

 5:16 Rejoiceºº evermore.º

 5:17 pray without ceasing;

 5:17 Prayºº without ceasing.º

 5:18 in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward.

 5:18 Inº every thingº give thanks:ºº forº thisº is the willº of Godº inº Christº Jesusº concerningº you.º

 5:19 Quench not the Spirit;

 5:19 Quenchºº notº theº Spirit.º

 5:20 despise not prophesyings;

 5:20 Despiseºº notº prophesyings.º

 5:21 prove all things; hold fast that which is good;

 5:21 Proveºº all things;º hold fastºº that whichº is good.º

 5:22 abstain from every form of evil.

 5:22 Abstainºº fromº allº appearanceº of evil.º

 5:23 And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 5:23 Andº theº veryº Godº of peaceº sanctifyºº youº wholly;º andº [I pray God] yourº wholeº spiritº andº soulº andº bodyº be preservedºº blamelessº untoº theº comingº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ.º

 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.

 5:24 Faithfulº [is] he that callethºº you,º whoº alsoº will doºº [it].

 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.

 5:25 Brethren,º prayºº forº us.º

 5:26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.

 5:26 Greetºº allº theº brethrenº withº an holyº kiss.º

 5:27 I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the brethren.

 5:27 I chargeºº youº by theº Lordº that this epistleº be readºº unto allº theº holyº brethren.º

 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
