1 Jehoshaphat in his fear proclaimeth a fast. 5 His prayer. 14 The prophecy of Jahaziel. 20 Jehoshaphat exhorteth the people, and setteth singers to praise Yahweh. 22 The great overthrow of the enemies. 26 The people, having blessed God at Berachah, return in triumph. 31 Jehoshaphat's reign. 35 His convoy of ships, which he made with Ahaziah, according to the prophecy of Eliezer, unhappily perished.

 20:1 ¶ It came to pass x1961 after x310 this y310 x3651 also, [that] the children 1121 of Moab, 4124 and the children 1121 of Ammon, 5983 and with x5973 them [other] beside x4480 the Ammonites, 5984 came 935 z8804 against x5921 Jehoshaphat 3092 to battle. 4421

 20:2 Then there came 935 z8799 some that told 5046 z8686 Jehoshaphat, 3092 saying, 559 z8800 There cometh 935 z8802 a great 7227 multitude 1995 against x5921 thee from beyond 5676 x4480 the sea 3220 on this side Syria; 758 x4480 and, behold, x2009 they [be] in Hazazontamar, 2688 which x1931 [is] Engedi. 5872

 20:3 And Jehoshaphat 3092 feared, 3372 z8799 and set 5414 z8799 x853 himself 6440 to seek 1875 z8800 Yahweh, 3068 and proclaimed 7121 z8799 a fast 6685 throughout 5921 all x3605 Judah. 3063

 20:4 And Judah 3063 gathered themselves together, 6908 z8735 to ask 1245 z8763 [help] of x4480 Yahweh: 3068 even x1571 out of all x4480 x3605 the cities 5892 of Judah 3063 they came 935 z8804 to seek 1245 z8763 x853 Yahweh. 3068

 20:5 ¶ And Jehoshaphat 3092 stood 5975 z8799 in the congregation 6951 of Judah 3063 and Jerusalem, 3389 in the house 1004 of Yahweh, 3068 before 6440 the new 2319 court, 2691

 20:6 And said, 559 z8799 O Yahweh 3068 Elohim 430 of our fathers, 1 [art] not x3808 thou x859 Elohim 430 in heaven? 8064 and rulest 4910 z8802 [not] thou x859 over all x3605 the kingdoms 4467 of the heathen? 1471 and in thine hand 3027 [is there not] power 3581 and might, 1369 so that none x369 is able to withstand 3320 z8692 x5973 thee?

 20:7 [Art] not x3808 thou x859 our Elohim, 430 [who] didst drive out 3423 z8689 x853 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of this x2063 land 776 before 6440 x4480 thy people 5971 Israel, 3478 and gavest 5414 z8799 it to the seed 2233 of Abraham 85 thy friend 157 z8802 for ever? 5769

 20:8 And they dwelt 3427 z8799 therein, and have built 1129 z8799 thee a sanctuary 4720 therein for thy name, 8034 saying, 559 z8800

 20:9 If, x518 [when] evil 7451 cometh 935 z8799 upon x5921 us, [as] the sword, 2719 judgment, 8196 or pestilence, 1698 or famine, 7458 we stand 5975 z8799 before 6440 this x2088 house, 1004 and in thy presence, 6440 (for x3588 thy name 8034 [is] in this x2088 house,) 1004 and cry 2199 z8799 unto x413 thee in our affliction, 6869 x4480 then thou wilt hear 8085 z8799 and help. 3467 z8686

 20:10 And now, x6258 behold, x2009 the children 1121 of Ammon 5983 and Moab 4124 and mount 2022 Seir, 8165 whom x834 thou wouldest not x3808 let 5414 z8804 Israel 3478 invade, 935 z8800 when they came x935 out y935 z8800 of the land 776 x4480 of Egypt, 4714 but x3588 they turned 5493 z8804 from x4480 x5921 them, and destroyed 8045 z8689 them not; x3808

 20:11 Behold, x2009 [I say, how] they x1992 reward 1580 z8802 x5921 us, to come 935 z8800 to cast us out 1644 z8763 of thy possession, 3425 x4480 which x834 thou hast given us to inherit. 3423 z8689

 20:12 O our Elohim, 430 wilt thou not x3808 judge 8199 z8799 them? for x3588 we have no x369 might 3581 against 6440 this x2088 great 7227 company 1995 that cometh 935 z8802 against x5921 us; neither x3808 know 3045 z8799 we 587 what x4100 to do: 6213 z8799 but x3588 our eyes 5869 [are] upon x5921 thee.

 20:13 And all x3605 Judah 3063 stood 5975 z8802 before 6440 Yahweh, 3068 with 1571 their little ones, 2945 their wives, 802 and their children. 1121

 20:14 ¶ Then upon x5921 Jahaziel 3166 the son 1121 of Zechariah, 2148 the son 1121 of Benaiah, 1141 the son 1121 of Jeiel, 3273 the son 1121 of Mattaniah, 4983 a Levite 3881 of x4480 the sons 1121 of Asaph, 623 came x1961 the Spirit 7307 of Yahweh 3068 in the midst 8432 of the congregation; 6951

 20:15 And he said, 559 z8799 Hearken 7181 z8685 ye, all x3605 Judah, 3063 and ye inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Jerusalem, 3389 and thou king 4428 Jehoshaphat, 3092 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 Yahweh 3068 unto you, Be not afraid 3372 z8799 x859 x408 nor x408 dismayed 2865 z8735 by reason y6440 of x4480 x6440 this x2088 great 7227 multitude; 1995 for x3588 the battle 4421 [is] not x3808 yours, but x3588 Elohim's. 430

 20:16 To morrow 4279 go ye down 3381 z8798 against x5921 them: behold, x2009 they come up 5927 z8802 by the cliff 4608 of Ziz; 6732 and ye shall find 4672 z8804 them at the end 5490 of the brook, 5158 before 6440 the wilderness 4057 of Jeruel. 3385

 20:17 Ye shall not x3808 [need] to fight 3898 z8736 in this 2063 [battle]: set y3320 z8690 yourselves, x3320 stand 5975 z8798 ye [still], and see 7200 z8798 x853 the salvation 3444 of Yahweh 3068 with x5973 you, O Judah 3063 and Jerusalem: 3389 fear 3372 z8799 not, x408 nor x408 be dismayed; 2865 z8735 to morrow 4279 go out 3318 z8798 against 6440 them: for Yahweh 3068 [will be] with x5973 you.

 20:18 And Jehoshaphat 3092 bowed y6915 z8799 his head x6915 with [his] face 639 to the ground: 776 and all x3605 Judah 3063 and the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Jerusalem 3389 fell 5307 z8804 before 6440 Yahweh, 3068 worshipping 7812 z8692 Yahweh. 3068

 20:19 And the Levites, 3881 of the children 1121 of x4480 the Kohathites, 6956 and of x4480 the children 1121 of the Korhites, 7145 stood up 6965 z8799 to praise 1984 z8763 Yahweh 3068 Elohim 430 of Israel 3478 with a loud 1419 voice 6963 on high. 4605

 20:20 ¶ And they rose early 7925 z8686 in the morning, 1242 and went forth 3318 z8799 into the wilderness 4057 of Tekoa: 8620 and as they went forth, 3318 z8800 Jehoshaphat 3092 stood 5975 z8804 and said, 559 z8799 Hear 8085 z8798 me, O Judah, 3063 and ye inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Jerusalem; 3389 Believe 539 z8685 in Yahweh 3068 your Elohim, 430 so shall ye be established; 539 z8735 believe 539 z8685 his prophets, 5030 so shall ye prosper. 6743 z8685

 20:21 And when he had consulted 3289 z8735 with x413 the people, 5971 he appointed 5975 z8686 singers 7891 z8789 unto Yahweh, 3068 and that should praise 1984 z8764 the beauty 1927 of holiness, 6944 as they went out 3318 z8800 before 6440 the army, 2502 z8803 and to say, 559 z8802 Praise 3034 z8685 Yahweh; 3068 for x3588 his mercy 2617 [endureth] for ever. 5769

 20:22 ¶ And when 6256 they began 2490 z8689 to sing 7440 and to praise, 8416 Yahweh 3068 set 5414 z8804 ambushments 693 z8764 against x5921 the children 1121 of Ammon, 5983 Moab, 4124 and mount 2022 Seir, 8165 which were come 935 z8802 against Judah; 3063 and they were smitten. 5062 z8735

 20:23 For the children 1121 of Ammon 5983 and Moab 4124 stood up 5975 z8799 against x5921 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of mount 2022 Seir, 8165 utterly to slay 2763 z8687 and destroy 8045 z8687 [them]: and when they had made an end 3615 z8763 of the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Seir, 8165 every one 376 helped 5826 z8804 to destroy 4889 another. 7453

 20:24 And when Judah 3063 came 935 z8804 toward x5921 the watch tower 4707 z8677 y4708 in the wilderness, 4057 they looked 6437 z8799 unto x413 the multitude, 1995 and, behold, x2009 they [were] dead bodies 6297 fallen 5307 z8802 to the earth, 776 and none x369 escaped. 6413

 20:25 And when Jehoshaphat 3092 and his people 5971 came 935 z8799 to take away 962 z8800 x853 the spoil 7998 of them, they found 4672 z8799 among them in abundance 7230 both riches 7399 with the dead bodies, 6297 and precious y2532 x2530 jewels, 3627 which they stripped off 5337 z8762 for themselves, more than 369 they could carry away: 4853 and they were x1961 three 7969 days 3117 in gathering 962 z8802 x853 of the spoil, 7998 it x1931 was so much. 7227

 20:26 ¶ And on the fourth 7243 day 3117 they assembled y6950 z8738 themselves x6950 in the valley 6010 of Berachah; 1294 for x3588 there x8033 they blessed 1288 z8765 x853 Yahweh: 3068 therefore x5921 x3651 x853 the name 8034 of the same x1931 place 4725 was called, 7121 z8804 The valley 6010 of Berachah, 1294 unto x5704 this day. 3117

 20:27 Then they returned, 7725 z8799 every x3605 man 376 of Judah 3063 and Jerusalem, 3389 and Jehoshaphat 3092 in the forefront 7218 of them, to go again 7725 z8800 to x413 Jerusalem 3389 with joy; 8057 for x3588 Yahweh 3068 had made them to rejoice 8055 z8765 over their enemies. 341 z8802 x4480

 20:28 And they came 935 z8799 to Jerusalem 3389 with psalteries 5035 and harps 3658 and trumpets 2689 unto x413 the house 1004 of Yahweh. 3068

 20:29 And the fear 6343 of Elohim 430 was x1961 on x5921 all x3605 the kingdoms 4467 of [those] countries, 776 when they had heard 8085 z8800 that x3588 Yahweh 3068 fought 3898 z8738 against x5973 the enemies 341 z8802 of Israel. 3478

 20:30 So the realm 4438 of Jehoshaphat 3092 was quiet: 8252 z8799 for his Elohim 430 gave him rest 5117 z8799 round about. 5439 x4480

 20:31 ¶ And Jehoshaphat 3092 reigned 4427 z8799 over x5921 Judah: 3063 [he was] thirty 7970 and five 2568 years 8141 old 1121 when he began to reign, 4427 z8800 and he reigned 4427 z8804 twenty 6242 and five 2568 years 8141 in Jerusalem. 3389 And his mother's 517 name 8034 [was] Azubah 5806 the daughter 1323 of Shilhi. 7977

 20:32 And he walked y3212 z8799 x1980 in the way 1870 of Asa 609 his father, 1 and departed 5493 z8804 not x3808 from x4480 it, doing 6213 z8800 [that which was] right 3477 in the sight 5869 of Yahweh. 3068

 20:33 Howbeit x389 the high places 1116 were not x3808 taken away: 5493 z8804 for as yet x5750 the people 5971 had not x3808 prepared 3559 z8689 their hearts 3824 unto the Elohim 430 of their fathers. 1

 20:34 Now the rest 3499 of the acts 1697 of Jehoshaphat, 3092 first 7223 and last, 314 behold, x2009 they [are] written 3789 z8803 in the book 1697 of Jehu 3058 the son 1121 of Hanani, 2607 who x834 [is] mentioned 5927 z8717 in x5921 the book 5612 of the kings 4428 of Israel. 3478

 20:35 ¶ And after 310 this x3651 did Jehoshaphat 3092 king 4428 of Judah 3063 join y2266 z8694 himself x2266 with x5973 Ahaziah 274 king 4428 of Israel, 3478 who x1931 did y6213 z8800 very wickedly: 7561 z8689 x6213

 20:36 And he joined 2266 z8762 himself with x5973 him to make 6213 z8800 ships 591 to go y3212 z8800 x1980 to Tarshish: 8659 and they made 6213 z8799 the ships 591 in Eziongeber. 6100

 20:37 Then Eliezer 461 the son 1121 of Dodavah 1735 of Mareshah 4762 x4480 prophesied 5012 z8691 against x5921 Jehoshaphat, 3092 saying, 559 z8800 Because thou hast joined y2266 z8692 thyself x2266 with x5973 Ahaziah, 274 Yahweh 3068 hath broken 6555 z8804 x853 thy works. 4639 And the ships 591 were broken, 7665 z8735 that they were not able 6113 z8804 x3808 to go y3212 z8800 x1980 to x413 Tarshish. 8659
