2 Corinthians 1

3 The apostle encourageth them against troubles, by the comforts and deliverances which God had given him, as in all his afflictions, 8 so particularly in his late danger in Asia. 12 And calling both his own conscience and theirs to witness of his sincere manner of preaching the immutable truth of the Gospel, 15 he excuseth his not coming to them, as proceeding not of lightness, but of his lenity towards them.

 1:1 Paul 3972, an apostle 652 of Christ 5547 Jesus 2424 by the will 2307 of God 2316, and Timothy 5095 [our] brother 80, ¶ To the church 1577 of God 2316 which is at Corinth 2882 with all 3956 the saints 40 who are throughout 3650 Achaia 882:

 1:2 ¶ Grace 5485 to you and peace 1515 from God 2316 our Father 3962 and the Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547.

 1:3 ¶ Blessed 2128 [be] the God 2316 and Father 3962 of our Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547, the Father 3962 of mercies 3628 and God 2316 of all 3956 comfort 3874,

 1:4 who comforts 3870 us in all 3956 our affliction 2347 so 1519 that we will be able 1410 to comfort 3870 those 3588 who are in any 3956 affliction 2347 with the comfort 3874 with which 3739 we ourselves 846 are comforted 3870 by God 2316.

 1:5 For just 2531a as the sufferings 3804 of Christ 5547 are ours 1473 in abundance 4052, so 3779 also 2532 our comfort 3874 is abundant 4052 through 1223 Christ 5547.

 1:6 But if 1535a we are afflicted 2346, it is for your comfort 3874 and salvation 4991; or 1535a if 1535a we are comforted 3870, it is for your comfort 3874, which is effective 1754 in the patient 5281 enduring 5281 of the same 846 sufferings 3804 which 3739 we also 2532 suffer 3958;

 1:7 and our hope 1680 for you is firmly 949 grounded 949, knowing 3609a that as you are sharers 2844 of our sufferings 3804, so 3779 also 2532 you are [sharers] of our comfort 3874.

 1:8 ¶ For we do not want 2309 you to be unaware 50, brethren 80, of our affliction 2347 which came 1096 [to us] in Asia 773, that we were burdened 916 excessively 2596 5236, beyond 5228 our strength 1411, so 5620 that we despaired 1820 even 2532 of life 2198;

 1:9 indeed 235, we had 2192 the sentence 610 of death 2288 within 1722 ourselves 1438 so 2443 that we would not trust 3982 in ourselves 1438, but in God 2316 who raises 1453 the dead 3498;

 1:10 who 3739 delivered 4506 us from so 5082 great 5082 a [peril of] death 2288, and will deliver 4506 [us], He on whom 3739 we have set 1679 our hope 1679. And He will yet 2089 deliver 4506 us,

 1:11 you also 2532 joining 4943 in helping 4943 us through your prayers 1162, so 2443 that thanks 2168 may be given 2168 by many 4183 persons 4383 on our behalf 5228 for the favor 5486 bestowed 1519 on us through 1223 [the prayers of] many 4183.

 1:12 ¶ For our proud 2746a confidence 2746a is this 3778: the testimony 3142 of our conscience 4893, that in holiness 41 and godly 2316 sincerity 1505, not in fleshly 4559 wisdom 4678 but in the grace 5485 of God 2316, we have conducted 390 ourselves in the world 2889, and especially 4053 toward 4314 you.

 1:13 For we write 1125 nothing 3756 else 243 to you than 2228 what 3739 you read 314 and understand 1921, and I hope 1679 you will understand 1921 until 2193 the end 5056;

 1:14 just 2531a as you also 2532 partially 3313 did understand 1921 us, that we are your reason 2745 to be proud 2745 as you also 2532 are ours 1473, in the day 2250 of our Lord 2962 Jesus 2424.

 1:15 ¶ In this 3778 confidence 4006 I intended 1014 at first 4387 to come 2064 to you, so 2443 that you might twice 1208 receive 2192 a blessing 5485;

 1:16 that is, to pass 1330 your way 1223 into Macedonia 3109, and again 3825 from Macedonia 3109 to come 2064 to you, and by you to be helped 4311 on my journey 4311 to Judea 2453.

 1:17 Therefore 3767, I was not vacillating 5530 1644 when I intended 1014 to do this 3778, was I? Or 2228 what 3739 I purpose 1011, do I purpose 1011 according 2596 to the flesh 4561, so 2443 that with me there will be yes 3483a, yes 3483a and no 3756, no 3756 [at the same time]?

 1:18 But as God 2316 is faithful 4103, our word 3056 to you is not yes 3483a and no 3756.

 1:19 For the Son 5207 of God 2316, Christ 5547 Jesus 2424, who was preached 2784 among 1722 you by us—by me and Silvanus 4610 and Timothy 5095—was not yes 3483a and no 3756, but is yes 3483a in Him.

 1:20 For as many 3745 as are the promises 1860 of God 2316, in Him they are yes 3483a; therefore 1352 also 2532 through 1223 Him is our Amen 281 to the glory 1391 of God 2316 through 1223 us.

 1:21 Now 1161 He who establishes 950 us with you in Christ 5547 and anointed 5548 us is God 2316,

 1:22 who also 2532 sealed 4972 us and gave 1325 [us] the Spirit 4151 in our hearts 2588 as a pledge 728.

 1:23 ¶ But I call 1941 God 2316 as witness 3144 to my soul 5590, that to spare 5339 you I did not come 2064 again 3765 to Corinth 2882.

 1:24 Not that we lord 2961 it over 2961 your faith 4102, but are workers 4904 with you for your joy 5479; for in your faith 4102 you are standing 2476 firm 2476.
