2 Christ diputeth with the Pharisees touching divorcement: 13 blesseth the children that are brought unto him: 17 resolveth a rich man how he may inherit life everlasting: 23 telleth his disciples of the danger of riches: 28 promiseth rewards to them that forsake any thing for the Gospel: 32 foretelleth his death and resurrection: 35 biddeth the two ambitious suitors to think rather of suffering with him: 46 and restoreth to Bartimeus his sight.

Getting 450 up, He *went 2064 from there 1564 to the region 3725 of Judea 2453 and beyond 4008 the Jordan 2446; crowds 3793 *gathered 4848 around 4314 Him again 3825, and, according 5613 to His custom 1486, He once 3825 more 3825 [began] to teach 1321 them.

¶ [Some] Pharisees 5330 came 4334 up to Jesus, testing 3985 Him, and [began] to question 1905 Him whether 1487 it was lawful 1832 for a man 435 to divorce 630 a wife 1135.

And He answered 611 and said 3004 to them, “What 5101 did Moses 3475 command 1781 you?”

They said 3004, “Moses 3475 permitted 2010 [a man] TO WRITE 1125 A CERTIFICATE 975 OF DIVORCE 647 AND SEND 630 [her] AWAY 630.”

But Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “Because 4314 of your hardness 4641 of heart 4641 he wrote 1125 you this 3778 commandment 1785.

“But from the beginning 746 of creation 2937, [God] MADE 4160 THEM MALE 733b AND FEMALE 2338.

“FOR THIS 3778 REASON 1752a A MAN 444 SHALL LEAVE 2641 HIS FATHER 3962 AND MOTHER 3384,

AND THE TWO 1417 SHALL BECOME 1510 1519 ONE 1520 FLESH 4561; so 5620 they are no 3765 longer 3765 two 1417, but one 1520 flesh 4561.

“What 3739 therefore 3767 God 2316 has joined 4801 together 4801, let no 3361 man 444 separate 5563.”

¶ In the house 3614 the disciples 3101 [began] questioning 1905 Him about 4012 this 3778 again 3825.
10:11
And He *said 3004 to them, “Whoever 3739 302 divorces 630 his wife 1135 and marries 1060 another 243 woman 243 commits 3429 adultery 3429 against 1909 her;

and if 1437 she herself 846 divorces 630 her husband 435 and marries 1060 another 243 man 243, she is committing 3431 adultery 3429.”

¶ And they were bringing 4374 children 3813 to Him so 2443 that He might touch 681 them; but the disciples 3101 rebuked 2008 them.

But when Jesus 2424 saw 3708 this, He was indignant 23 and said 3004 to them, “Permit 863 the children 3813 to come 2064 to Me; do not hinder 2967 them; for the kingdom 932 of God 2316 belongs 1510 to such 5108 as these 5108.

“Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, whoever 3739 302 does not receive 1209 the kingdom 932 of God 2316 like 5613 a child 3813 will not enter 1525 it [at all].”

And He took 1723 them in His arms 1723 and [began] blessing 2721a them, laying 5087 His hands 5495 on them.

¶ As He was setting 1607 out on a journey 3598, a man 1520 ran 4370 up to Him and knelt 1120 before 1120 Him, and asked 1905 Him, “Good 18 Teacher 1320, what 5101 shall I do 4160 to inherit 2816 eternal 166 life 2222?”

And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to him, “Why 5101 do you call 3004 Me good 18? No 3762 one 3762 is good 18 except 1508 God 2316 alone 1520.
10:19
“You know 3609a the commandments 1785, ‘DO NOT MURDER 5407, DO NOT COMMIT 3431 ADULTERY 3431, DO NOT STEAL 2813, DO NOT BEAR 5576 FALSE 5576 WITNESS 5576, Do not defraud 650, HONOR 5091 YOUR FATHER 3962 AND MOTHER 3384.’”

And he said 5346 to Him, “Teacher 1320, I have kept 5442 all 3956 these 3778 things 3778 from my youth 3503 up.”

Looking 1689 at him, Jesus 2424 felt 25 a love 25 for him and said 3004 to him, “One 1520 thing 1520 you lack 5302: go 5217 and sell 4453 all 3745 you possess 2192 and give 1325 to the poor 4434, and you will have 2192 treasure 2344 in heaven 3772; and come 1204, follow 190 Me.”

But at these 3588 words 3056 he was saddened 4768, and he went 565 away 565 grieving 3076, for he was one who owned 2192 much 4183 property 2933.

¶ And Jesus 2424, looking 4017 around 4017, *said 3004 to His disciples 3101, “How 4459 hard 1423 it will be for those 3588 who are wealthy 5536 to enter 1525 the kingdom 932 of God 2316!”

The disciples 3101 were amazed 2284 at His words 3056. But Jesus 2424 *answered 611 again 3825 and *said 3004 to them, “Children 5043, how 4459 hard 1422b it is to enter 1525 the kingdom 932 of God 2316!

“It is easier 2123 for a camel 2574 to go 1330 through 1223 the eye 5168 of a needle 4476 than 2228 for a rich 4145 man 4145 to enter 1525 the kingdom 932 of God 2316.”

They were even 4057 more 4057 astonished 1605 and said 3004 to Him, “Then 2532 who 5101 can 1410 be saved 4982?”

Looking 1689 at them, Jesus 2424 *said 3004, “With people 444 it is impossible 102, but not with God 2316; for all 3956 things 3956 are possible 1415 with God 2316.”

¶ Peter 4074 began 757 to say 3004 to Him, “Behold 2400, we have left 863 everything 3956 and followed 190 You.”

Jesus 2424 said 5346, “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, there is no 3762 one 3762 who 3739 has left 863 house 3614 or 2228 brothers 80 or 2228 sisters 79 or 2228 mother 3384 or 2228 father 3962 or 2228 children 5043 or 2228 farms 68, for My sake 1752a and for the gospel’s 2098 sake 1752a,

but that he will receive 2983 a hundred 1542 times 1542 as much 1542 now 3568 in the present 3778 age 2540, houses 3614 and brothers 80 and sisters 79 and mothers 3384 and children 5043 and farms 68, along with persecutions 1375; and in the age 165 to come 2064, eternal 166 life 2222.

“But many 4183 [who are] first 4413 will be last 2078, and the last 2078, first 4413.”

¶ They were on the road 3598 going 305 up to Jerusalem 2414, and Jesus 2424 was walking 4254 on ahead 4254 of them; and they were amazed 2284, and those 3588 who followed 190 were fearful 5399. And again 3825 He took 3880 the twelve 1427 aside 3880 and began 757 to tell 3004 them what 3588 was going 3195 to happen 4819 to Him,

[saying], “Behold 2400, we are going 305 up to Jerusalem 2414, and the Son 5207 of Man 444 will be delivered 3860 to the chief 749 priests 749 and the scribes 1122; and they will condemn 2632 Him to death 2288 and will hand 3860 Him over to the Gentiles 1484.

“They will mock 1702 Him and spit 1716 on Him, and scourge 3146 Him and kill 615 [Him], and three 5140 days 2250 later 3326 He will rise 450 again 450.”

¶ James 2385 and John 2491, the two 1417 sons 5207 of Zebedee 2199, *came 4365 up to Jesus, saying 3004, “Teacher 1320, we want 2309 You to do 4160 for us whatever 3739 1437 we ask 154 of You.”

And He said 3004 to them, “What 5101 do you want 2309 Me to do 4160 for you?”

They said 3004 to Him, “Grant 1325 that we may sit 2523, one 1520 on Your right 1188 and one 1520 on [Your] left 710, in Your glory 1391.”

But Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “You do not know 3609a what 5101 you are asking 154. Are you able 1410 to drink 4095 the cup 4221 that I drink 4095, or 2228 to be baptized 907 with the baptism 908 with which 3739 I am baptized 907?”

They said 3004 to Him, “We are able 1410.” And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “The cup 4221 that I drink 4095 you shall drink 4095; and you shall be baptized 907 with the baptism 908 with which 3739 I am baptized 907.

“But to sit 2523 on My right 1188 or 2228 on [My] left 2176, this is not Mine 1699 to give 1325; but it is for those for whom 3739 it has been prepared 2090.”

¶ Hearing 191 [this], the ten 1176 began 757 to feel 23 indignant 23 with James 2385 and John 2491.

Calling 4341 them to Himself, Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to them, “You know 3609a that those 3588 who are recognized 1380 as rulers 757 of the Gentiles 1484 lord 2634b it over 2634b them; and their great 3173 men 3173 exercise 2715 authority 2715 over 2715 them.

“But it is not this 3779 way 3779 among 1722 you, but whoever 3739 302 wishes 2309 to become 1096 great 3173 among 1722 you shall be your servant 1249;

and whoever 3739 302 wishes 2309 to be first 4413 among 1722 you shall be slave 1401 of all 3956.

“For even 2532 the Son 5207 of Man 444 did not come 2064 to be served 1247, but to serve 1247, and to give 1325 His life 5590 a ransom 3083 for many 4183.”

¶ Then 2532 they *came 2064 to Jericho 2410a. And as He was leaving 1607 Jericho 2410a with His disciples 3101 and a large 2425 crowd 3793, a blind 5185 beggar 4319b [named] Bartimaeus 924, the son 5207 of Timaeus 5090, was sitting 2521 by the road 3598.

When he heard 191 that it was Jesus 2424 the Nazarene 3479, he began 757 to cry 2896 out and say 3004, “Jesus 2424, Son 5207 of David 1160b, have 1653 mercy 1653 on me!”

Many 4183 were sternly 2008 telling 2008 him to be quiet 4623, but he kept crying 2896 out all 4183 the more 3123, “Son 5207 of David 1160b, have 1653 mercy 1653 on me!”

And Jesus 2424 stopped 2476 and said 3004, “Call 5455 him [here].” So 2532 they *called 5455 the blind 5185 man 5185, saying 3004 to him, “Take 2293 courage 2293, stand 1453 up! He is calling 5455 for you.”

Throwing 577 aside 577 his cloak 2440, he jumped 376a up and came 2064 to Jesus 2424.

And answering 611 him, Jesus 2424 said 3004, “What 5101 do you want 2309 Me to do 4160 for you?” And the blind 5185 man 5185 said 3004 to Him, “Rabboni 4462, [I want] to regain 308 my sight 308!”

And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to him, “Go 5217; your faith 4102 has made 4982 you well 4982.” Immediately 2117 he regained 308 his sight 308 and [began] following 190 Him on the road 3598.
