Zechariah 7

1 The captives enquire of fasting. 4 Zechariah reproveth their fasting. 8 Sin the cause of their captivity.

 7:1 In the fourth 702 year 8141 of King 4428 Darius 1867, the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Zechariah 2148a on the fourth 702 [day] of the ninth 8671 month 2320, [which is] Chislev 3691.

 7:2 Now [the town of] Bethel 1008 had sent 7971 Sharezer 8272 and Regemmelech 7278 and their men 376 to seek 2470b the favor 2470b of the LORD 3068,

 7:3 speaking 559 to the priests 3548 who 834 belong to the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, and to the prophets 5030, saying 559, “Shall I weep 1058 in the fifth 2549 month 2320 and abstain 5144a, as I have done 6213a these 2088 many 4100 years 8141?”

 7:4 Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 came 1961 to me, saying 559,

 7:5 “Say 559 to all 3605 the people 5971a of the land 776 and to the priests 3548, ‘When 3588 you fasted 6684 and mourned 5594 in the fifth 2549 and seventh 7637 months these 2088 seventy 7657 years 8141, was it actually 6684 for Me that you fasted 6684?

 7:6 ‘When 3588 you eat 398 and drink 8354, do you not eat 398 for yourselves and do you not drink 8354 for yourselves?

 7:7 ‘Are not [these] the words 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 proclaimed 7121 by the former 7223 prophets 5030, when Jerusalem 3389 was inhabited 3427 and prosperous 7961 along with its cities 5892b around 5439 it, and the Negev 5045 and the foothills 8219 were inhabited 3427?’”

 7:8 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Zechariah 2148a saying 559,

 7:9 “Thus 3541 has the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 said 559, ‘Dispense 8199 true 571 justice 4941 and practice 6213a kindness 2617a and compassion 7356 each 376 to his brother 251;

 7:10 and do not oppress 6231 the widow 490 or the orphan 3490, the stranger 1616 or the poor 6041; and do not devise 2803 evil 7463a in your hearts 3824 against one 376 another 312.’

 7:11 “But they refused 3985 to pay 7181 attention 7181 and turned 5414 a stubborn 5637 shoulder 3802 and stopped 3513 their ears 241 from hearing 8085.

 7:12 “They made 7760 their hearts 3820 [like] flint 8068 so 4480 that they could not hear 8085 the law 8451 and the words 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 had sent 7971 by His Spirit 7307 through 3027 the former 7223 prophets 5030; therefore great 1419 wrath 7110a came 1961 from the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 7:13 “And just 3512c as He called 7121 and they would not listen 8085, so 3651 they called 7121 and I would not listen 8085,” says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635;

 7:14 “but I scattered 5590 them with a storm 5590 wind 5590 among 5921 all 3605 the nations 1471 whom 834 they have not known 3045. Thus the land 776 is desolated 8074 behind 310 them so 4480 that no 4480 one went 5674a back 7725 and forth 5674a, for they made 7760 the pleasant 2532 land 776 desolate 8047.”
